Kind of hard to tell that from the webcam

I can guarantee the ride will go down in an hour or less... Nice line of Severe Thunderstorms are moving right towards Sandusky. Wind gusts in excess of 70 mph are associated with the storms. Could make for some interesting webcam shots.

^ Right you are. And now the lift hill lights are on.

I don't think Panda Express is run by CP, but correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct.. Panda and Chik-Filet are both independently operated.

Looks like that storm hit in Sandusky :P

I just made the trip from Orlando to Sandusky yesterday to ride Maverick.

I was surprised by all the rave reviews- I thought this small coaster would be Iron Dragon with inversions and a launch in terms of thrills and intensity. So when so many people were saying it is their favorite CP coaster, I decided to make the trip sooner rather than later.

I must say it is a well paced ride that packs a surprising punch.

However, I have one major complaint, and I am not one to complain. The OTS restraints (in conjunction with the ride dynamics) are the worst I have experienced. I am 5'11" -not overly tall- and the over the shoulder restraints were exactly neck high on me. What would have been headbanging resulted in the OTS chopping right into the side of my neck like I was going to be decapitated. It caught me off guard the first time I rode (in the back) and hurt like hell. From then on I reached my hands between the OTS and my neck to try to cushion the blows, but it was still uncomfortable and a major detraction from the experience. I rode again in the front and the neckbanging was a bit less but still highly unpleasant.

I find Arrow megaloopers and Vekoma hang-and-bangs less uncomfortable.

I think if they change the restraints I would place this coaster in my top five for it is otherwise excellent.

For now, my top five are:

1. Magnum XL-200. I like the height, the slow old-fashioned lift that gives time to appreciate the height and enjoy the view; the lake view, the long floater air on the 3rd hill and the ejector air on the bunny hops. There is also 18 years of sentimental history for me with this ride.

2. Millennium Force. It is a boring layout after the 2nd hill, but the first drop, speed, and height make this number two.

3. Boulder Dash. Incredible terrain and scenery, the illusion of greater speed, excellent laterals and air, and a smooth, relatively long ride make this number three.

4. Superman @ SFNE. For the same reasons it is often voted #1 in Amusement Today. A smooth hypercoaster with great elements, air, and pacing.

5. The Beast. The classic terrain coaster, a looong ride through the trees down a hillside, speed, hills, helix, etc. I think this ride is underrated today.

As of Last Saturday I rode Maverick and man I loved it. This coaster may only be 105 tall, but man it has a lot of punch to it. That 95 degree drop makes you feel like your going to fly out. I love the whole layout, the ride never lets up speed wise. In My Opinion it's like Millennium Force. Great Coaster and Great Job Cedar Point! Some of you might call me crazy but, I have Maverick ahead of Top Thrill Dragster, but I'll just go ahead and give yall my new top 5.
1. Millennium Force, yes I still love Millenium Force more.
2. Maverick, like I said Maverick's speed never lets up.
3. Magnum XL 200- Still a great coaster after almost 20 years.
4. Top Thrill Dragster - Adreneline Rush!
5. Raptor - Simply one of my favorites, awesome coaster

I went yesterday, and was impressed with how much twisting and flipping they could fit in such a small space, and the first drop was amazing ... but it's not the best in the park. My top 5:

1. MF
2. TTD
3. MAG
4. MAV
5. WT

I'll add another complaint about the restraints. I'm 6'3", 180, and had small bruises from the restraints on my chest. Nothing major... in fact, its a testimonial to the power of the ride, but it seems like there could be a better way to secure the riders than the OTSR.

As for the ride, it's great. The only thing to add is that the heartline roll replacement track seems too mild... like IntaRide deliberately under-engineered it to be impotent and unoffensive as possible.

Also, I think it's a great ride at night... the transition from tunnel to outside at night is particularly disorienting.

As fun as it is, Mav is still my #3 ride at CP, behind MF and TTD.

Giant Wheel alum from a loooong time ago.

I am in the airport in Cleveland now waiting for my flight home after three days at Cedar Point. I will have a trip report in another thread, but I got to ride all 14 of the adult coasters on my trip. I would definitely say Maverick is the best roller coaster in the park. It packs a lot of punch, but isn't visually intimidating at all, which makes it easier for me to ride over and over than Millenium Force, which is a great coaster too. Actually all the coasters there were great, but here are my top 5.

1. Maverick

2. Raptor

3. Millennium Force

4. Top Thrill Dragster

5. Wicked Twister (Most underrated ride in the park)

But the strange thing is, as great as the coasters were and as much as I love coasters, and Cedar Point has the best, my favorite ride at CP is not a Roller Coaster. Its MaxAir. That ride is really smooth, and its so much fun, and I highly recommend it.

I personally think that Raptor is still the best ride in the park just because its the most intense B and M inverted coaster that I have ever been on. Just the way it consumes you when you are on it and ,yes, I think its more incredible at night.Suspended is so intense.

Well, I went with the impression it was going to my #2 behind milli. After I rode it the 1st time, it quickly and I do mean quickly became my #1.

I haven't been on Maverick yet - but my next CP trip is in two days, so I'll definitely make it a point to get on! It sounds good from what I'm reading here. I've been to the Point 7 times (I know I totally need to get there more), and I've been on the Millennium Force 18 times total and it remains my favorite ride... so we'll see!

Hello All. I just stopped in to say 'Hi' and see how everyone was doing. My buddies went to CP last week and told me that they loved the new ride, but I haven't been there yet to try it out.

I hope your summer is going wonderful so far! Bye!

"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"

id say its one of my fav rides, but i love all rollercoasters, so its hard to chose

Top Rides-#1.Millennium #2. Gatekeeper #3.Maverick #4.Raptor #5.Dragster

Coaster Lover Forever

I just got back and I must say Maverick is an OK coaster it is not my favorite or anywhere close to being my favorite. I have a huge rash on both my shoulders because of the restraints.

1. Millennium

2. Magnum

3. Dragster

4. Raptor/ Wicked Twister

5. Maverick (maybe not even my fifth favorite.

I loved maverick it is my favorite ride in the park now

i kept my hands up for 8 rides and i can definitely feel it but it isnt that bad. cant choose a winner between maverick and millenium. but they are both amazing.
