I finally got to ride Maverick on 06/25/07. This is a great addition for CP. I loved the first drop that made me feel like I'd be ejected from my seat, the horseshoe roll, and the launch in the tunnel. Overall, a great ride that can be enjoyed by many.
Best ride? Nah but its up there, for sure. MF is still better as many agree with. Call me crazy, but the Power Tower just might be my favorite ride in the park. For my money, nothing is more thrilling than sitting there, with your feet dangling, at the top of Power Tower, with a spectacular view of the entire park and Lake, knowing you're about to be dropped like a bad habit. :)
It ain't easy being cheesy but at least roller coasters don't make me queasy.
I'm going for my second trip this year next month on August 14th and 15th. As it stands right now, it's a draw between Maverick and Millennium Force.

Although Maverick and Millennium are two different style coasters i would much rather saddle up and ride Maverick than Millennium.
Top Coasters:
1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Sheikra 5. Magnum
ride on ride warriors, ride on
I haven't gotten to Cedar Point much in the last few years. I always have sports. But my signature has my coasters.
I don't know... It's so hard to decide, and rather unfair.
I've been on Dragster 6 times thus far, and Maverick only 2. Currently Dragster has a 3x lead, so I'm thinking that I need more testing before I can decide between the two.
I do know, however, that I find Dragster and Maverick to be two awesome coasters that I would not hesitate to ride (except maybe when waiting on Dragster's launch :) ).
Let me preface my comments by saying that both MF and Maverick are awesome in their own ways.
Heres the deal with MF. I can have an amazing ride on it or I can have a relatively boring ride on it. As said earlier in this thread, MF's claim to fame is the huge drop(s), along with the huge transitions, floater air, etc. Unfortunately after you ride it a lot, the height isn't quite as amazing as it once was, and if the weather is cool, or some other factor is present, the ride can run a bit slower and it is REALLY noticeable and makes it much less exciting. My first ride of the season was a number 1 coaster ride. It beat Maverick by a lot in my opinion. Today however I have to say that Maverick was a bit better. Millennium Force just seems to have its good days and its bad, and it also depends on how much you ride it. Most people that visit the park very infrequently still think its the best coaster out there. Also the ride is nearing 10 years old, so it is to be expected that it start to fall off of people's lists.
Your mood also has a lot to do with it. Sometimes I crave the height and gracefullness and speed of MF, and other times I want the quickness and intensity of Maverick. So really, at the moment, they are close to a tie.
Both Maverick and Millennium are really amazing. They are really different too, so I think it is hard to really compare them. Since I've only been on Maverick a handful of times, and the two are so close, I'm going to leave MF where it is... for now. It's my #1.
Thrills Around the Corner!
^MF just turned 7 years old a few months ago... I wouldn't call that "nearing 10." Also, it's not falling off people's lists... MF has been #1 or #2 since it opened. But you're right, it is definitely difficult to compare them. It's somewhat different coming from me because I only go to CP once or twice per year, but I don't forsee MF ever leaving my #1 spot. Perfect in every way if you ask me.

I rode Maverick and Millennium Force the same day when I went the 5th of July, and I gotta say i was impressed with my runs on both MF and Mav. Now if i had to run over the what I consider to be important for my overall ride experience, it would be like so:
Wait Time: Equal Wait time for both on my day
Shade in Line: Maverick wins that because of the WWL area ( i hate roasting waiting for a ride)
Speed: MF (duh)
Height: MF (another duh)
Comfort of Ride: MF ( no crazy out of this world moves) I hit my neck on the OTSR a few times on the quick turns of Maverick
Intensity: Maverick (not much for MF imo after the first hill)
Exciting all the way through: Maverick...
Sorry for wasting your time but it seems we have a tie here! 3 for MF and 3 for Maverick, i guess i'm going to have to go for another visit to sort this one out? Any other aspects you guys can think of for the overall ride experience?
I ride the coaster in my white tee...
I've always thought MF was "intense" from start to end. You're always flying right into the trims at the end. Just because it's not all in your face whipping around doesn't mean it's not intense - at least to me.
I dont know. Ever since Memorial Day, Millennium just hasn't been feeling.....Millenniumish to me. It just feels like somethings missing, or like something about Millennium's experience was stolen.

I lived in Cleveland for four years until I moved again a month ago, and I must have visited CP 100 times in those four years. When I first moved there, I thought MF was the best ride ever. I'd been on it in 2000 and rode it maybe ten times then, and it was by far and away my favorite then. Still was my first year in Cleveland. After that, it got very boring very fast. Aside from the first drop, it was fast but had no significant acceleration.
Maverick on the other hand is a much more reliably good coaster, in my opinion. Because it doesn't have far to go between the lift and the launch and the launch to the brakes, it is predictably fast throughout the course and has some sick snappy directional changes. That's the kind of intensity that you can't really adjust to and get bored with.
Maverick is definitely my #1 coaster.
^ Your right..MF does get pretty boring after a while..the first drop is pretty much all the acceleration and thrills you get.
With Maverick there is a new twist everywhere you turn.
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
I personally think that Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force and Maverick are almost as good as one another. However Maverick slightly edges out the other two as my top-pick. (sorry Millennium!)

Close call between MF and Maverick, but Maverick won out by a nose for me: it's just got more going on.

CP fan since 68.
If it's between Maverick and MF, I've definitely gotta give that title to....
* ... Drum roll please ... *
Maverick.
I'm with everyone else in that the intensity and relentlessness throughout are simply incredible. The theming is great and only adds to the ride enjoyment
While MF is a great ride, and I love the height and speed of the first hill, I'm siding with Maverick.
Now, if we were to involve Dragster in the matter, then things would become a lot more complicated...
Maverick is my favorite ride in the park. Finally there is a ride that offers more elements than just height and speed. Top Thrill Dragsters speed is awesome in the beginning, and it outshines the 420 foot hill for me. I hardly notice it until I start to spiral downwards, fun, but I wouldn't wait more than 45 minutes in line for it.
Millenium Force is so smooth, exciting and really takes me on an adventure. The ride seems to be so simple, but it moves me in all the right ways. But its second best when it comes to roller coasters.
Riding in the front of Wicked Twister is perhaps 3rd on my list. The launch is exciting and getting so close to the tip on the second launch foward. At times, before Maverick, I could decide if Wicked Twister or Millenium Force was my favorite ride.
It's probably the best ride in the park, besides Millennium Force...but that's just me saying that. I just joined today, so I probably shouldn't be posting too much yet, but I just wanted to reply to this thread. So hi, everyone.
Is the Magnum really sinking...or is it just getting shorter?
