I personally think it's impossible to rank coasters #1,2,3... Every coaster is unique and provides its own experience. (Even those cookie cutter SF coasters) The best way to rank coasters is the 1-10 scale. That way they are each rated individually and not compared to others. For me, MF is a 9-9.5. Maverick is yet to be determined :)

^ I'm with you on that. Rating is so much better than ranking.
I've had great rides on coasters that are are ranked low in the major polls. And I've had crappy rides on some that sit high.
Edit to add an "e" and stop the madness ;)

I've been riding Magnum since 1990. I was not tall enough to ride it in 1989, unfortunately. Man did that annoy me.
First Ride on Magnum

I went to Cp on Monday 6/4/07. We got there at around 915 am. The parking lot was empty. I thought this was strange, then I remebered they were calling for rain. They had the gates open when we got there as well, which I also found to be strange. We entered the park to find out they had barriers to block the midway. When 10o'clock hit it was caotic. People running like it was the end of the world.
Our first ride we went on was Raptor of course. We walked right on. No wait what so ever. My Uncle was dissappointed because his upper chest was to big to fit into the seat. The ride was great till the end. It jerked hard at the very end going up to the loading station.
Right after the Raptor we headed right over to the Mantis, Again Uncle wasnt able to ride. But I have to say is that the ride operator tried his hardest to force the belt to click on the seat but all the neede was like an inch or less. But The rest of us rode it, and again a walk on coaster. When we got off of the coaster the park was getting packed. So we headed to the Iron Dragon because we were determined to get my uncle on a coaster. Yeah I know its like one of the cheesey ones but he fit. Of course this ride had no line. and now its 11 . 3 coasters 1 hour. So we headed to Maverick. Before we got into line my uncle tried the test seat and he fit and had pleanty of room. As soon as he got out of the test seat the coaster goes down for brake issues. So we waited for appro 90mins in line. We didnt care if it was going to be down for 3 hours we were not going anywhere. We waited and waited and watched the line in the old wwl building dissapear. When the Coaster went up at approx 2pm we ran threw to get on the coaster we were the 3rd train to leave. Now what I have to say about Maverick might not make many people happy but I frankly dont care.
Maverick is a good little coaster with speed. The lift hill is awsome. The drop now thats like nothing i have ever felt before. Now siting in the back seat what a rush it feels like your going to flip over in the car. Air time OMG the airtime, The launch tunnel now thats sweet, so i was told, at that point of the launch I blacked out and zoned back in as we shot over the pond and again blacked out on the other side of the "s" curve under the lift hill. All I can say is this coaster is cool. Ok Its Awsome. My only thing I have to say is I hope they cleaned the silver train before they loaded it because that was the train behind us and the lady in the front seat vomitted. SO Yes MAVERICK is not a coaster for the people that sick easliey.
After the Maverick we headed to a stand to get a drink and snack. After we finished we went to the Mine ride. As soon as we get loaded on the train they tell us to get out of the train because its going down do to the weather. I was ok with that. The only thing I didnt like was after we waited in line to ride it they told us we would have to exit the station and go around and get in line again. I was So Pissed and so was the rest of my family, We had alrerady waited why should we have to wait again at the end of the line. I saw a PR guy and I gave him an ear full and he rolled his eyes, That pushed me over the edge.
So it rained rained and rained some more. So we headed to Panda Express To eat. Let me just give you all a hint. Dont eat there unless you want to leave Cedar Point Early with Food Poison. My Aunt and I both had to go to the Hospital for it. The Chicken wasnt fully cooked. So that was the end to a great start of a day. Cedar Point wont be seeing my family or I anytime soon untill they get their **** straight. Every one at work had asked me how my trip was and I told them that I had a good time besides food poison and rude ride operators. Need not mention the fact we smoked 2 feet away from the smoke area becuse there wasnt any room and we got told that we needed to get closer to the smokers, that was uncalled for. These people that work there need a reality check, we are the ones that pay them, if it wasnt for us. Cedar Point wouldnt be there. And I mean us as in everyone that goes.

The 5 Most Thrilling Roller Coasters at CP
#1 Maverick
#2 Raptor
#3 Mantis
#4 Maginum
#5 Millennium Force
1 - How did the Uncle and the You manage to lose an hour? Between 10 and noon you only had 1 hour in the park?
2 - Sorry to hear about the food poisoning. Hopefully the hospital reported it to the health inspector and they'll get it checked out. Question though, did the you stop eating the chicken as soon as the you noticed it wasn't cooked all the way through?
3 - Its not unusual for some rides to clear the station when they go down for weather. The ops were following their protocol, whether you liked it or not.
Goodbye MrScott
John
my bad forgot cousin and I rode MF from 11 to 12. Thank god we got our ride over with. When we were eating at Panda Express MF was stuck on the lift hill. It was stuck later on in the day to, and in the same spot.

CPCoasterFanatic, That post probly would have fit better with its own thread in Trip Reports. But, to get back on subject, I'll say Yes. Maverick is the best ride in the park. It's probly hard to believe that if you've never ridden it, and i gave it careful consideration. I went on Maverick and then Millenium Force, and it took a second ride on Maverick to convince me. It really is a perfectly executed ride. Not one dull moment, save when you realize its over :(

Shouldn't that have been in the trip report place?
.......geez.
BTW, MF is still my #1 or perhaps until I ride Maverick ?
You're welcome.
Why didn't you bitch at the guy that put his trip report in this thread instead of me?
I see YOU added so much value.
You're right, sorry.....but only he was only poked at once.
Sorry again ;)

I don't think Panda Express is run by CP, but correct me if I'm wrong.
When your ride went down because of rain, if you didn't get your ride, they should have opened the gates and let you exit the train to the left. What they did to you was the wrong procedure from my experience.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Is Maverick broken down? on the webcam it looks like the trains arent on the track and it doesnt seem to be running.

Looks down to me... I see at least 3 trains transferred off... but on the bright side, it looks like the hose is still working ;)
