After getting three more rides on Maverick yesterday I have to say it is my new favorite coaster at CP.
But who knows maybe after a few hundred more rides it will become boring.... umm probably not.
One of the best things about Maverick is how vastly different the ride is when riding the front or back seat for such a short train. Very smooth and a sweet view from the front seat or great g's and many surprises in the back seat.
Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!

After my 1 ride Monday and 28 rides today I would have to say Raptor is still my favorite, but Maverick is definitely my 2nd favorite!!
Was it really not that crowded or something!?

I dont know where Maverick is on my list yet, but I do know this. The rides no Magnum, so I have to reply no.
No. Magnum is still #1.
And adam, media day was very empty today. It was ride until you can't ride anymore.

Peace Love Hope
I love Maggie, but when the wait for Maverick seems shorter than the wait for Magnum, somethings gotta give...
Maverick rules the sky.
And the restraint system is very forgiving for those of us who are GOES.
It's a tough decision, and I'm still undecided... but as much as I love Magnum, the direction changes, and inversions, along with the launch on Maverick make it a possible new #1....

Hah nice one Maverick now rules the sky instead of Raptor :) lol! and its because they are only running one train for Magnum. *** Edited 6/1/2007 5:02:33 AM UTC by Jerreus***
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
Maverick is a great ride but I still have to give my #1 to MF. Nothing beats the view of the first hill and then amazing drop. I love the speed of MF! It is amazing! I wasn't sure how much I really liked Maverick as a fav when I rode it monday, but after riding it today, it is definitely in my top 5!
I rode Maverick for the first time tonight with my 12yr old daughter. While we were loading I noticed the train going up the hill had a rollback. I thought crap, I missed a rollback. Then when it was our turn we made it to the top and then stopped. I cant believe I got a rollback on my first ride. What an awesome coaster. It definitley is my new #1.
I really do like Maverick, but with my 2 rides, it dosen't top my list. I rank it #3 on my top CP rides, with MF being my #1 and Raptor my #2. To finish off my top five, Maggie is #4 and TTD is #5.
Ralph
Top 5 woodies: 1. Voyage (Holiday World) 2. Legend (Holiday World) 3. Beast (Kings Island) 4. Lighting Racers (Hershey Park) 5. Raven (Holiday World)
I have the Maverick tied with MF at #1. Yesterday I rode each four times with my nine year old daughter and neither of us could choose.

Same here.
This may sound weird but it was almost too fast for me to fully enjoy the different elements before it seemed over.
Or maybe I'm getting too old and my mind is slower. ;-)
Favourite parts: Backseat flip over top, air time in loops.
As Josh M. said in his trip report from memorial day, we all got off of Maverick and headed to MF after a quick spin on Skyhawk. After we were done with our ride on MF Josh and I both felt that MF felt almost slower and less intense after riding Maverick.
Now maybe it was because we were just getting off our first ride of an excelent new coaster, but I still kinda feel that MF has lost some of its "punch" for me and that is why I am having the hardest time rating it in my top coaster list.
For the time being I am going to have to put MF and Maverick at a tie for first with Magnum nippin' at their heels in third.
Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!
THANKS BEN!!! That's what I like to hear! Not to say anything bad about Maverick, it is a kickass ride! I take a lot of things into consideration when choosing favorites.
Explaining Maverick to people at work, I said it is the crack-child of MF and Magnum! And when speaking of the horseshoe element, I have to quote Scott Short when he said it is the "Eye of the Hurricane". It is the calm and gentle part of the ride.
I actually did my top 10 list last night. Since I had got some new credits last week down south, I hate to say, but Maverick doesn't make the cut for me. There is only one Intamin in the list: Expedition GeForce in Germany. Some coasters are hard to explain the attraction. Like Montezooma's Revenge at Knott's. It is #10 - there is just something about those old Schwarzkopf shuttles! I also hate to say Magnum is the only CP coaster on the list. In case you're wondering, here is my personal top 10 steel:
1) Magnum - Cedar Point
2) Goliath - Six Flags Over Goergia
3) Mindbender - Six Flags Over Georgia
4) Kumba - Busch Gardens Tampa
5) Expedition GeFeorce - Holiday Park
6) Apollo's Chariot - Busch Gardens Williamsburg
7) Nemesis - Alton Towers
8) Dueling Dragons (Fire) - Islands of Adventure
9) Powder Keg - Silver Dollar City
10) Montzooma's Revenge - Knott's Berry Farm
B&M hogs the list with 5. But you can see a variety with Arrow, Schwarzkopf, Intamin, and S&S.
Now for mixing steel and wood together, I have to admit Magnum got knocked out of my top spot by Voyage. After riding it many more times this year, I had to face the facts. Those of you that know me well, know that it wasn't a decision I like!
Back to Maverick, there is something missing from the overall feeling of the ride. (oh yeah, there is something literally missing!). After riding, I will not complain about its removal. It would have been instant whiplash! It is one of the better rides at park. I would choose Raptor over it as well.
Just my 2 cents *** Edited 6/2/2007 5:00:01 PM UTC by Magnum "Candy" Man***
After riding Maverick 14 times, I would definitely consider it to be my new #1 steel coaster. The ride never lets up from beginning to end. It is amazing how the small elements look like nothing compared to what they really offer riders. The first airtime hill literally throws me out of my seat. From watching it I would have never guessed you even get that much airtime in that element.
Personally, I think the first drop on Maverick makes MFs drop seem less exciting. The way the drop throws you out of your seat from the 95 degree angle is intense. Though MF may still be incredible, I find Mavericks quick changes in direction, surprising elements, and sudden "pops" of airtime to make for a much more intense and thrilling ride.
My favorite part of Maverick is definitely the second Stengel dive. Though the train really flies through this element, it feels and looks AMAZING. Reminds me of Voyage's 90 degree banked turns by the way the train maneuvers the track. It looks and feels beautiful.
Maverick has taken TTDs spot for my new favorite steel coaster. Every time I ride it, it seems to get better and better.
What's life if you never get to the Point?
Mavvie - 164
Draggie - 306 (5 rollbacks!!)
Millie - 306
Maggie - Too many times
CP trips this year - 24
