Alright, I see where you are coming from Ralph Wiggum BUT you also must realize that even though that Dragster has had downtime, the ride first off makes up for it. It's one of those rides you ride it once, you get a high and you wanna ride again. Many people keep coming back for this ride.

Also, I worked at Cedar Point this past season and I worked right next to it. This season it had the least amount of downtime. And if you are talking about Dragster being a mistake, I remember one point Millennium Force did had quite bit of downtime at the begnning of the season and about Mid-season Wicked Twister was down for two weeks.

Also, I think guests don't realize what all goes into top thrill dragster. And they get VERY angry over simple rules that are only there to keep safe. .. . and keep those below them from not going into a coma.

Thank you CampSnoop!! That's exactly what I've been trying to tell some of these people!!:)
You took the words straight out of my mouth.

I think Dragster Town has another citizen.
Now its up to 3!!:)

Well the CEO of the park called it disappointing...

Sure the ride experience is great, but the downtime and maintenance issues they have with the ride are at an unacceptable level.

True, but he also said he would change his mind depending on this years preformance, which should be awsome.

And yes, it's impossible to over look the amount of downtime and maintenance it has had....but that's all in the past. And like my grandfather says, "We must not dwell or sulk on issues of the past". Sadly, I know it may not be that easy for CP.
Dragster will always have a history of downtime but I'm sure, if we give it a chance, it will make it up to us this year.

Also you must keep in mind that Dragster is the first of its kind. The first 400 foot coaster or 120 mph coaster. They had nothing to look at or nothing to build off of. They were the first anywhere to try this feat. I'm not saying at all that the downtime hasn't been too much because it has been. Especially for something of this price. I'm just saying this isn't just another 150 foot boring coaster, it takes a lot more. I love the Dragster so I'm just asking you to please keep this in mind :) thank you

Arms down, head back, and hold on.....

Everyone wants over the top adrenaline thrills. I think whatever they do with that area they build something unique and fun. Cutting down some of the tree's there wouldn't be too bad since the resulting backdrop would be Sandusky bay.

X was rough? I don't know if you're just tiny and get thrown around a lot or what, but I found it far from rough. Intense, sure, but rough? Never.

TTD 120mph's avatar

Maybe its rides differ every day. Maybe certain weather conditions cause it to run differently. Like if Dragster's track gets cold, it could cause a train to rollback.
It's just a guess.

But I think height and how big you are could also determine your experience.

Disappointing and mistake are two very different words.

CP didn't expect the ride to get so much downtime. The overall reaction to the ride was and has been quite positive. Nothing to the scale of Magnum and MF were for the park, but TTD did a lot on CP's national attention.

I believe Mr. Kinzel said that the ride was a disappointment, but this kind of thing (downtime) happens when you press the envelope, and they took a chance and it just didn't work out the way they wanted it to. He then continued to say he'd be willing to push the envelope in the future. That is what brought CP to the place it's at in the first place.

There's so much negativity on here surrounding TTD, I really like to stay out of it. *** Edited 2/6/2006 2:45:04 AM UTC by Gomez***

Doing a good job so far.:) lol kidding

Oh and BTW, I'm having a little trouble reading that last sentence in your 2nd paragraph. "do so is what CP to the place it's at in the first place.".....??

Sorry, I fixed the problem. And I really do think I'm progressing quite well. I refrained from posting my feeling on the topic and kept to the facts. :)

TTD is an awesome experience, period. I have no doubt 2006 will be its best year. This year, aside from Halloweekends, it was running all day, every day, in 11 trips to the point. But, whatever...this thread is entilitled, Maverick, if Im reading correctly.

Personally, I think CP is annoyed that in this day and age, its damn...damn hard to keep a secret easily kept 5 years ago thanks to the internet.

TTD 120mph's avatar

Yep, thank god for the internet.:)

Well, I'm glad people agree with me when it comes to Dragster.

I will admit, I freakin love that ride. I worked there a few days this past summer and LOVED every second of it.

Also, I was there when it got stuck at the top with people on it. . . . don't believe me?? Ask any employees of 2005.

Amazing it twas.

Kevinj's avatar

So heres two questions.

1.Lets say that Maverick is the name of the new attraction. Will they change that now that there has been a "leak"?

2.Just how did someone ever come across this? Just happened to be browsing through names that have been recently purchased by companies?

JuggaLotus's avatar

Its not a leak if it is public information. The USPTO is public domain, there was just someone with WAY WAY WAY too much time on their hands who happened to find it.

I'm sure there is a way to search USPTO by company name. So that wouldn't be too hard to do.

Goodbye MrScott

John

Honestly, this isn't really a leak.

It was public info as JuggaLotus would say and it may or may not be the name of the new ride. Who knows? I mean Cedar Fair does have many parks. It could belong to anyone of them.

Plus, rumours spread like wildfire. . . I mean just look at this!

This isn't the first time this has happened. Patriot and Silver Bullet were both found "pre-announcement" by someone searching the database.

Wouldn't everyone istead of a $25million coaster that is 450 feet tall, have 3 coasters in 1 year thats totals 25 mil and they are all about 150ft and awesome?

If they were some of the best in the world then yes.
