If mantis does get transformed, I want the new name to be The Exterminator.

Cedar point does make amazing coasters, however, maintaining themeing, at least in the Kinzel era, was not a priority.
The big priority back then was that "people have to eat."
You know what's strange? When Mantis was Introduced, the commercials said, Ever wonder why you're not supposed to step on a Mantis? Fast forward to Tuesday, the reaper goes up the station and says the same thing? That's weird, but it leaves us clueless of whether or not this is Goodbye or not. Maybe this means that nobody has stepped on a Mantis until Lebron James came back around. Then it was squished! Since Lebron James is back, it makes me think there is a new King around and that Mantis is coming back in a new form.

How does Mantis have anything to do with Lebron? (You guys are obsessed with him) They're not gonna name a coaster permanently after him.. and i doubt they would waste this opportunity to have a good new themed ride/coaster on him.
LOL, I vacuumed my carpet this morning before reading the blog post and I'm one of those people that likes to get nice, straight vacuum patterns in the carpet. Tony would be pleased if he came to my house for coffee to spill the beans (pun intended)! I promise I won't tell anyone! 😀
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I think the King James idea was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
So you don't think Cedar Point will rename a coaster after him?

probably rougarou
Has anyone seem the page on the CP website entitled "mantis is closing"? If not its under whats new. You should check it out.
If CF trademarks a name...... In this case Rougarou, It will never be to rename a transformed, mid-1990's and mediocre Mantis roller coaster.. Unless it had something to do with an athlete like Lebron James or some other novelty that involved anything legal, CP would probably just re-name it! I can't see CP having this big reveal of their newly-themed, transformed floorless coaster that is 15 years late IMO and is no way up to CP's standards!
I find it hard to believe that in the year 2014, technology requires that extra 2 weeks for repainting/re-theming and to put new trains on an existing coaster! All I know is that Mantis was designed to be a Stand-up and that goes for it's size, length, style, supports, track etc etc! I'm sure the conversion to any sit-down version is possible, but there is no guarantee that it's gonna be this great success!
My say is that it's gone and off to a smaller market sister park like MiA or Dorney, where it'll be among the best of their line-up as a stand-up! Can't imagine CP making fans look at a closed Mantis, when it clearly could stay open the rest of the season! I think CP will ease our wounds of a lost friend with a new friend! Just my opinion, but only time will tell!
“It’s time to say goodbye to one of the park’s coasters, and it’s certainly been a different kind of ride for our guests,” said Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “But we’re extremely excited about what the future holds here at the Roller Coaster Capital of the World™.” To me this sounds like the coaster is what we're saying goodbye to, the actual coaster!

I would love for mantis to be floor less and in a building like a basketball themed thing. The first loop seems slam-dunk-esque to me somehow, I could see that looped being themed around a slam dunk or some kind of shot. And the arena would be with all those twisty parts and turns for the rest of the ride, it's almost like dodging around opponents with the ball to me.
QUESTION for someone who knows more about the engineering than me: If mantis was gone but they left the footers, could they use them for a new coaster (or something)? Someone said something about a dive machine going in it's place. Could a dive machine go on the same footers? Obviously have to pour maybe a few more, but maybe even use the old station.
Many reasons I could see a dive machine would be plausible.
For one, I know there's not many dive machines around, and most (if not all) dive machines are at non-cedar fair parks. There is a demand or a "market" for a record breaking dive machine, right? Also it's B&M.. cp's BFF ;) (poking fun). In my opinion it would really hitting that "variety" bell a lot of fans have been asking for.
Geography: I think where mantis stands today is one of the tops spots in the park for a diver. After all it has to be near some water, right? In that little lagoon a dive coaster would be lovely!
RougaroooO!
The boardwalk will be over 500 ft! W/ a coaster tunnel into LE
The reason they only were only as far as calling RMC a week ago is because it's for a season after 2015 cause RMC so busy this year! The "coasters are in our DNA" line is about Gemini gettin' RMC'd with the tracks corkscrewing/rolling around each other Making a double helix like DNA. Either that or they are building something awesome w the DNA shape, a pollercoaster?
Just real excited thinking about a diver being there. Never been on one.
I'm sure some things I said are on track, but most are off track, for the record
RougaroooO!!
I can't believe Mantis is still going to be Closed on Friday nights. I know they are short workers, but since this is the last season for it they should keep it open.

If Cedar Point does remove mantis (as in the entire coaster), which i think they wont personally, I would love to see the worlds tallest, fastest, and longest dive machine. Those things look awesome.
^ and do you know if they could use old footers from mantis? It would maybe be a diver with the smaller trains yet because I read that the steel tubes (track) had to be a lot thicker on dive machines to support the weight of the trains. I don't know anything or how strong those footers are or how tall the tallest diver could be though! Just wanna hear of anyone knows if they could use the old mantis footers. Maybe explaining the strange thing about mantis "randomly" closing 2 wks before this season.
The dive machine would (will❤️) be rougaroo! Like how we have the dive machines Kraken and Krake, two different divers at two different parks. Somewhere else (michigans adv. 2 hrs away from me 😍) would have the mini diver, Roo! And the other divers are already named after bad spirit anyway, it would follow that precedent for b&m's divers.
I'm sure some things I said are on track, but most are off track, for the record
to-do list 1-7 CPRBGCB=cedar point record breaking giga coaster build
No no not on the causeway! Haha that wouldn't be nice. How about that building between dodgers and Wildcat😝? Redo it. I'm sorry I don't care about the shows, for same reason I don't care for soak city. I know many many guests enjoy those things, but I can barely set aside time to eat when I'm at CP because I use every minute I can to get another ride on the worlds best coasters.
I fast on lemonade!

I love this guy.
