I was able to get 3 rides on Banshee in one day..
My 1st ride, very back. The next ride in the middle, and the last ride FRONT ROW!
The front row, pressure on my face kept my eyes from opening, and watering like no coaster has ever done. The twist and turns seem smoother than Raptor, but I felt it to be a lot more powerful, and my son said it was weak.
The back was good, but first rides I miss things, so I can't rate the back.
The middle was fun, fast.
And to me the ride just kept getting faster, and faster, until the end.
Better - not necessarily, different for sure. :)
GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.
Oh I rode Behemoth and loved it as well... On a different note, Banshee is definitely worth making the trip to Mason for! Not as intense as your typical invert, but definitely no Gatekeeper as far as being an easy ride. Banshee is hard to explain.. To me it was like B&M really let the Invert trains go on this and it just opened up! If that made any sense? Great addition to our neighboring sister park!
In terms of what?
Banshee is a better all-around ride than Diamondback, but I like Diamondback better solely for the airtime.
I'm looking forward to trying it. It's hard to judge the intensity from the POV. I really want to ride Diamondback too. I'm hoping that changes my mind about the B&M hypers that I've been on.
Going back to what someone said about Gatekeeper being an easy ride. I agree completely, but for some reason, I've seen more protein spills on that ride alone the past two seasons than I have at Cedar Point for at least the past 10 seasons. Last Thursday being a perfect example. I have sort of a vomit phobia so I refuse to ride anything where I sit close to strangers (unless it's an ERT event with all enthusiasts). I generally wait for the front on all coasters for that reason. I'm weird, I know...
I havent ridden Banshee.. but I have ridden Diamondback.. totally different types of coaster experience though.. Diamondback is Airtime HEAVEN!!! Banshee looks like.. Raptor mixed with Gatekeeper....
Banshee is nothing like Gatekeeper, and I think it's better than Raptor overall, but Raptor does have that final helix of speed. Too bad that euphoria is destroyed by the choking stop that immediately follows.
Then there's Banshee's slow-roll invert. That's a brilliant element.

I hate to say it, but Diamondback is my favorite hyper. Amazing ride. Haven't ridden Banshee, so I can't comment, but I (unfortunately) have to add that Adventure Express has CCMR beat. The ravine makes a big difference. Still nothing that comes close to the excellence of Maverick, though. I could only ride that and be happy with my visit.
"Please note: Mantis is NOT open on Friday nights during HalloWeekends."
Another clue of its great popularity, or lack thereof.
It's never been open for Halloweekend Fridays, along with a lot of other rides. Does that make them unpopular also?
Better tear out the train and others.

Is Banshee <, =, or > Diamondback?
While I enjoyed Banshee I thought Diamondback blew it out of the water. I rode them for the first time on a trip this year back to back. A lot of its just preference. Some people prefer twists and turns more and some prefer hills and airtime. My personal preference, I'll take a Giga or Hyper any day of the week over a coaster with a ton of inversions.
Top 5: (1) Superman the Ride (2) Millennium Force (3) Maverick (4) Leviathan (5) Diamondback

They probably will :)
What I am saying is that of all the "major coasters" at Americas Roller Coast its odd that Mantis, a huge favorite with many riders, doesn't operate. Hmmmmm......Maybe because of its lower than average ridership.
The changing landscape of the "Jungle Larry " area has been fairly frequent in terms of eras. Could a Rougaroo concept of that unique Cedar Point wetland area, take hold so to speak?
Really if you ask me i dont think keeping mantis and changing its paint and name will really bring back the popularity. If you ask me a ride isnt new if they dont change the track. I think Cedar Point will not release a new ride for 2015 unless they open it up later in the summer. I think if they tear mantis down it will be like Kings Island where there was a big empty space and will build a ride for 2016. But who knows, I was shocked by mantis closing so who knows what else Tony Clark and Cedar Point will throw at us.
And also there is no way a dark ride is coming this year and disaster transport wasnt that great. And I dont know about you but has anyone thought about what a coaster after lebron would be named? For starters if you ask me to imagine a roller coaster called "THE KING" I think of big things. Maybe the clearance of mantis means good for the future.
