I notice, most of us think the bicycle seat is the problem with mantis. I feel that the biggest problem is the blood pouring into your legs from the serious G's. Also, I hear a lot of complaints of head banging. Cedar Point even has a sign on the Mantis line to remove all earrings because of the head banging. New restraints on a sitting or floorless coaster would do the job. Being only two years since Gatekeeper, this is a great addition, allowing for good marketing, while keeping expenditures low(er). If the ride is made floor less, that whole station will have to be redone.
New for 2018... RMC Iron Horse!!!
Cedar Point opened MF the same year but just before Steel Dragon, which was taller by 8'. Heck I wouldn't care about anything but being first! If it EVER was to happen it would more than likely solidify CP as the best park for several years to come, with zero comparison! Would go perfect with Mi expansion as a whole new area themed after it! Either way sounds nice but until it happens, it's only a dream! Also Could GateKeeper have been a replacement for Mantis as the unique coaster of the park? If so CP went all out on guaranteeing it a comfortable ride for everybody after Mantis! And how they Utilized it's structure as part of the new entrance and didn't take up valuable space, sounds like a job well done!
@ Tilt-a-Whirl..You are correct, most of us aren't 'middle school kids'. And if some guests to this site are, that's fine. As you read, you must of missed the IMO(that means in my opinion) close to the beginning of my post/ response. I wasn't stating fact or fiction-just my thought. Keep enjoying your share(s)/unit(s). I'll keep visiting & enjoying the park(regardless what changes are on the way)and bump up your bottom line..Is that ok?
Keep passing the fun along!

I don't know if this has been brought up already, but I thought it was interesting how in the video it said "Goodbye is never easy. In this case it is."Thoughts?
The only time a good bye is easy is if something better is coming. And that could be a transformation of the ride or a completely new roller coaster, which brings us back where we started.

Well that went magnificently.

Just a small news flash. Cedar Point is only voted "Best park in the World" buy one magazines poll, this is not the general consensus. Its a great park - but hardly the best in the WORLD.
One problem that all B&Ms, especially their stand-ups, is quite noticeable to those of us who happens to have a long torso. In other words, the seat to shoulder length for tall people is snug, although fortunately not tight for me except on the stand-ups. The only way I can have a comfortable ride is to have my knees slightly bent and push my shoulders into the harness.
Unfortunately this is not being fixed with the new vest restraints that have a maximum height of 6'4", which is not an abnormally tall height for a guy.

...then ending the press release with The Roller Coaster Capital of the World?? CP would never lose a coaster of Mantis' magnitude if it wasn't to be replaced with some form of coaster!
"The Roller Coaster Capital of the World" is a marketing slogan. It's like a soda pop declaring itself the "Official Soda Pop of Summer!" -- a great PR hook, but actually meaning little.
True..
However. CP started the whole roller coaster capitol of the world but when they had the record for most coasters.
We're pretty far behind now I think.

SFMM has 19 (including twisted colossus), CP is second with 16, (17 if you count pipe scream like the website does).
No, you're wrong. From the 1960's to the early 1990's, Kennywood Park used The Roller Coaster Capital of the World slogan, before CP ever did. And Kennywood only had around four coasters back then.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
There's still people out there who care what park has the most roller coasters? That is sooooo 1990s!

Not according to their financial results, which are more important than some silly ambiguous slogan.
Brandon
I love how the new regime is not concerned with quantity but rather quality.
Also---- IT IS CAPITAL, not CAPITOL. We aren't playing in the Hunger Games.
I was wondering if B&M might take what they can with the infrastructure of Mantis and transform it to a terrain hugging and slightly themed coaster similar to Holiday World's Thunderbird ( not including the winged trains).
Perhaps save the first 3 loops and gravity lift portion and then make a really nice long ride by a second launch into the "bayou".
I miss the old school cheesy themed areas of PWE. This could be a way to reuse that classic area. It would even give ya a place to park Jungle Larry's Jeep and have it fit right in.
Fully understand the logic of marketing, I'm in that business and it's exactly why I question it? I don't understand how it's good PR when in the same paragraph the park's GM talks about how they're removing one of CP's main coasters and then closes it off with the Roller Coaster Capital of the World!?? However that is to be interpreted coming from Mr. McClure? If there is to be no replacement, then I'd say he could of said anything else but that, unless he's got something in his back pocket that we don't know about?
My point is... CP in reality at one time was hands down, the Roller Coaster Capital of the World for both quantity and quality! Something that CF's flagship park has prided themselves with, and really is what made them/industry what it is today! Has nothing to do with the coaster count anymore, it's a title they claim because they believe that they have the best coaster collection.
On another note, I do see the reality of it being top-dog in the past and also see it coming back down to Earth today! Sucks but it is hardly the best in the World and I know everybody is gonna not like this, but MF is not the best coaster in the world! It's my all-time favorite but can't call it the best after riding Leviathan!
Who knows, but like DJ said... CF is getting it done in the accountants office! So with CF the possibilities could be endless?
