I'm a shareholder! But, unfortunately I don't know anything more than the average joe.

All I can tell you is that Cedar Fair needs to figure out how to stop their stock from plummeting like it has been for the past two weeks. Apparently the market didn't like to hear they are doing something with a perfectly good roller coaster called Mantis, because that announcement just cost me more money.

As a limited partnership, Cedar Fair has unitholders - not shareholders. There are key differences and tax benefits with this arrangement.

Exactly! Way to hit the nail on the head! Even though we are speculating what could happen, only Cedar Fair/Cedar Point know what's happening. I just hope It's for Mantis to be converted to a Floorless. We shall see though ;)

To Kyle: another giga or strata couldn't be unique? That would mean every hyper was the same as every other, and so with every <101 footer (whatever coaster that's called).

So basically macerick would be just the same thing as Gemini, like what was the point of maverick it's almost the same footage of Gemini. Don't get me wrong, they're both unique...

I would like to hear your guys' feedback on my cp to do list theory. Just about the whole CPRBGCB thing. Like, seriously? What are the chances guys and gals, that the first two letters are CP?!?!? Like 1 in 26 squared or something like that? And CPRB (record breaking), 26 quadded (fourth power).

Plus it's at least a bit peculiar he spelt Monday "MonDay"
And almost every word is capitalized.

Thanks cp and y'all

I understand all of this except one part.. What does MonDay mean?

I like to think I own the flowers at CP. Maybe a little of the soil their planted around.

Yupp. Does that mean you got something out of capitalized/un-capitalized words? ;)

You can spell rougaroo (however it's spelt) and centurion from the words, so unless they're making both haha then idk just a clue.

honestly, I see Mantis going anywhere. I think it getting floorless trains and possible retracking for the second half of the ride. The phantom said " EVER WHY YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO STAND ON MANTIS?" I honestly think it's too young to be removed already. Mean Steak or CCMR would be the first to go. not mantis. I think Mantis is becoming rougarou as a floorless.

Why have a 500 footer? To remain the coaster capital of the world.

That's not how billion-dollar companies operate.

Seriously? I have been a shareholder for ten years. Not all of us are in middle school.

Also a share/unit holder here. But really, it doesn't matter either way. Reports only ask for significant spending and when that spending is asked for, no one knows what it is going for. And most minority shareholders won't care to even attend or listen to the meetings/calls. Therefore, for the most part, many of us are in the dark about what is actually going on.

Guess all you want, but the saying "those that know don't tell" is for real.

You have never been a shareholder, the word "unit" is more acceptable.

^^ He isn't speaking like "it's the gospel". He is simply referencing basic physics.

Speed is created by a drop, and he is simply saying that the train will not have enough energy to travel the addition you suggest (albeit a launch is not added, but now we are really off track).

The layout definitely won't be added to.

Not at all true, taking out and adding or otherwise changing elements of the ride while keeping other parts the same is just as likely as adding new trains to the existing layout. Physics in general tells me that they can alter weights on the train, along with track elements while still only needing the energy supplied by the current height of the lift hill.

I was thinking the same thing. Mantis has a brake run mid course, which means that there is a reduction in speed and energy and lost potential. There are so many variables that could be changed to increase the length of the ride if they really wanted to. The question is...will they? I'd personally like to see them find a way to breathe some new life into the ride.

Someone asked earlier why we'd want to see Mantis converted instead of getting a brand new ride. I'd love to see a new coaster built from the ground up but that's not going to happen next year and it may not even happen for another 3 or 4 years. They might be saving the big guns for their upcoming 150th anniversary. If they remove Mantis completely then at most I think we can expect a flat ride or two. Converting Mantis into a different ride would at least give us a new coaster experience...even if it is somewhat familiar.

^^Yeah yeah, I know. They're both practically the same thing (so I don't get the big deal here really) but unitholders, legally, possess limited voting rights compared to the bigger, corporate shareholders (but that doesn't mean all the time). There's also the tax reason of course (the biggest difference). I only put share/unit up there so people didn't start asking what a "unit" is ;). Either way, part of a limited partnership held, sounds like a "unit" OR a "share" to me.

Unit holder or not, I have no idea what is going on with Mantis and I'm not going to act like I do. I want to know, but also know we'll have to wait.

Share and/or shareholder are perfectly acceptable alternatives to describe partnership holdings in financial circles. Only really anal people like to point out the difference.

^ Thank you.

Change "Record Breaking Giga" to...

Rougarou Break Ground. :)

Oh, and MD = Mantis Dead

Btw, anyone coin the term for a 500-footer yet?

CPRBGCB

Mantis is Dying. It needs CPR to Bring Good Coaster Back. ;)
