or maybe the tab labelled floorless?
Donno, I think the hyper trains match better with what they would be replacing. Floorless, floored, just a sit-down to me in either case.
Of course if they torn it down and sold the scraps in the stores I'd consider it an improvement. I liked the ride when it opened but after the scarf break was inserted into the first hill and just from the let-down the ride turns into after the first loop I didn't bother going back.

No matter what happens, I just hope they don't fill the rails with sand on Mantis. I love the loud roar as the train flies by. I honestly think Mantis is louder than Raptor. Who doesn't love a nice and loud B&M roar?
I 100% agree with that. Raptor and mantis wouldn't be the same without the roar. I think gatekeeper sounds kinda stupid. You can hear the roar wants to come out but it cant. It just lets out that dumb annoying clicking sound.
Yeah, I really like not having a conversation on the midway because the roar is drowning everything out. Not to mention that it gets annoying when riding also. I love the lack of sound on Gatekeeper, but maybe I'm just a throwback to the days when the Blue Streak and Satellite Jets were the loudest rides in the park.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

This statement may seem rediculous.. but It is TOTALLY Feasable to fit a 4 to 500 footer using Mantis' footprint..if they remove SRF.The questions surrounding a 400-500 foot coaster have never been about "where" or "how", but rather "why".
It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to build a lift hill that high, or even a coaster that goes that fast. Look at Maverick, consistently one of the most popular rides in the park, standing at a mere ~100 feet.
I often wonder if the "OMFG 500 footer FTW!!!" crowd isn't compensating for some shortcoming of their own. ;)
Is a 400, 500, or even a 700 ft coaster really going to make that much of a difference to justify its cost compared to a 300ft?
I also often wonder about compensation for certain shortcoming regarding certain people in this here forum. ;)

Me, I hate the loud roar.Back in the 90s, I spent dozens of hours trimming rose bushes and pulling weeds under Raptor. I got real good at tuning it out. :)
I wonder if Mantis's loud roar was why they gave it the original name, Banshee, since it howls like a spirit of the sort?
Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!...Arms Down!...Arms Down......
for those talking about the heartline being wrong, check this out. I did my best to try to scale these the same.

I think they are not removing the Mantis. If they were going to remove it, they would not have "shut it down permanently" on October 19th. They are going to remove the awful stand-up trains and replace them with floorless trains or traditional sit-down cars. That's why they are saying that the Mantis will be "squashed," as in "squishing down the seats." In the video, you hear the grim reaper say: "Ever wonder why you're not supposed to stand up ON THE MANTIS?" Their slogan is "take one last stand" for a reason...It all points to a re-theme in honor of Lebron James's return to Cleveland and major maintenance on the track and seats. No where in Cedar Point's video, tweets, or statements do they say anything saying that they are going to "demolish" Mantis. I really hope that if my theory is not correct and they do end up tearing Mantis down that they replace it with something for thrill seekers. I think we will be the first park to go over 500 feet, but I do not foresee that happening for at least another 1-2 years. Tony Clark may have jokingly put a to-do list on his Twitter saying things about AquaTrax, Tunnel into Lake Erie, a boardwalk, and going over 500 feet but I think those things are never completely impossible. I hope for a 4D coaster sometime as well but I mean, who knows what CP will come up with next.
It made sense that they didn't announce it until the day after Labor Day - it's part of their advertising for Halloweekends. If they announced it before hand, people would try to get into the park to ride Mantis during the off season because every thinks Halloweekends is always crowded.
But if you announce Mantis is going away right before Halloweekends, , it forces people to come during that time to ride it a few times, as well as check out the new haunts.
