Even if they did take out Corkscrew there isn't much land to work with.

Let's Get Weird.

The corkscrew over the midway is iconic.

Just like Space Spiral.

The same coaster can run at a varying interval. Try riding Magnum on a spring morning and then on a summer night. It can vary a lot.

I prefer the Mantis trim over getting slammed to a stop in the safety brake when they stacked 3 trains. I believe it has been discussed in the past that the trim is computerized like Mean Streak's and operates based on prior train intervals.

Another one I was thinking about is Cedar Creek Mine Ride. I've never seen a long line for that in the last 5 years. The theming isn't great, it's not as great as I remember. That would make another great place for a flying coaster. I think CP should think about getting a flying coaster.

Seems like you want to get rid of every coaster at CP. I really don't think you get it Corkscrew is a great first inverting coaster for kids and CCMR is a perfect transitional coaster for the young ones. CP is a place where the whole family can go and have fun. It's not all about the biggest and best coasters.

^A flyer fitting in CCMR's footprint? Seriously?I for one agree with it not being as great as you remember; judging by the level of your posts, I assume you mean 2007. What a ride it was back then.

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

Man this thread cracks me up. For as many B.O. supporters as we have on here, it seems like most of you are allergic to change, even if it might be for the better.

Also, if I had a dollar for every Mantis getting floorless trains thread we've had, I'd be at least 5-10 bucks richer.

I am sure the vast majority of people would see this as a waste of money, but what about simply replacing corkscrew with a clone? Intamin makes a smooth looping model. They could surely be contracted to copy the Corkscrew layout and redesign the ride using modern techniques. Perhaps it could be made slightly taller with a steeper drop, smoother inversions, Maverick-style trains and maybe even air-time hills on the long straightaway prior to the station.

Also, I agree that roller coasters are not meant to ride like BMWs. The jolting of wood coasters and even some steel ones (Magnum for instance) adds to the fear facter. Every time I hit the turnaround on Blue Streak it feels like it's one loose bolt from flying off the track. But these things age and slowly change shape, even the steel ones. If I were running the business, I want people getting off every ride saying "That was awesome, let's go again." Not "Wow, that was rough!" I see nothing wrong or wasteful about spending money to change and maintain old designs to make them more enjoyable for guests, especially iconinc rides that I would hope last a lifetime like Magnum. Great ride expereinces are a major part of what keeps people coming back year-after year to ride the same rides.

If CP gets rid of CCMR, I will be sad because that was my first real coaster at CP and also because it's my grandma's favorite.
If CP gets rid of Corkscrew, I will be somewhat upset because it's iconic and I just love seeing it go across the midway.
I would love to get a newer updated Corkscrew clone built by Intamin! For some reason I feel it would be to similar to Maverick. I'm really hoping for a new woodie and a flyer in the future!

I don't want to get rid of every coaster there. I just think that if people aren't having a good time on them then CP should do something about it. I'm also not saying that they should build more huge coasters. I'm saying that the smaller kid rides such as CCMR and Corkscrew shouldnt have to be painful and should be updated.

CCMR and Corkscrew are not kid rides, which seems to be the point that you and some others on here don't seem to get.

^^^ I don't necessarily mean they are kid rides. More like family rides. But still you get the point.

Corkscrew is by far the least imposing of the loopers at the park, and a good entry point for younger riders. True, it features some of the infamous Arrow-transitions, but there's no good reason to remove it.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

If they were to build a better, smoother, less rough one, then why not?

I love the coasters there! I hope they keep adding more, but not destroying the others unless they need to be taken out! I love all the different types!!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

If people are still riding them and they are still providing a fun experience, then why?

I can already imagine. Intamin built Corkscrew clone with LIM launch (like Maverick). That would be awesome. Don't use similar trains to Maverick, use trains that have lapbars.
