Mantis Future

Sure, but don't you also want to keep old rides from deteriorating and becoming unenjoyable, or in some cases nearly unridable? Aside from that, I doubt these kinds of changes would cost anywhere near what a new roller coaster would cost.

Where is it written that every coaster has to be smooth as glass, able to be ridden comfortably by even the frailest of individuals?

You forgot about tallest, fastest and most inversions that a family can enjoy.

Wait, Mean Streak will never have a non-rough ride then...there is no such thing as the Summer Equinox.

Where is it written that coasters are supposed to vibrate the rider to the point of discomfort?

I'm probably in a minority, but I rather enjoy Mantis. It isn't the most comfortable ride, although I've never really had a "bad" experience on it. It's not a ride I would "marathon", or even get on again right away, as there is some jostling, head-banging, etc...but every once in awhile that's a fun change from Millennium's smoothness. For moi.

At Six Flags Great Adventure, I found that almost every coaster there is very smooth. It was a nice change from Cedar Point where many of the coaster bang you around and are rough.

Unfortunately, SFGA took out their massive headbanger GASM last year so you weren't able to enjoy that one.

^^^ But DJ I can honestly say I've felt that uncomfortable on it. But, I get it...many do. Perhaps most.

Ok, first of all GASM is a terrible abbreviation for a coaster. ;)

and second of all, Mantis is probably one of the smoothest rides in the park, IMO

And I'm not joking. I never got any headbanging on it ::knocks on wood::

I have never found Mantis to be rough or painful. Never found MS to be painful. But to me, Mantis just feels like it lumbers through the course. I prefer the quicker/crisper twists/flips of Raptor.

Look how Mantis used to run-

OR this - a modern - day video, but trims are off

Wouldn't you have to have an unusually high heartline for a stand - up, and therefore it would be hard to convert Mantis?

The video of the opening year was before the trims were installed, and I don't know the explanation for the other one.

I totally agree with you. I wanna see corkscrew to be taken out after Mantis got converted. They are both very painful. A new ride that would interact with the midway like corkscrew does would be really cool. Maybe a smaller flying coaster would be cool.

I'm 40. I've spent the majority of my life enjoying CP rides while wondering why the heck they have signs up at rides warning people about health risks. At 40, you start to understand why such signs exist. I therefore recluse myself from discussions regarding the physical pounding some rides have on some people. While CP is for everyone, it's mostly for the youthful generation. If Corkscrew, Mean Streak, or Mantis is an issue for you, maybe it's time to start paying attention to your health and those signs.

What's with all the hate? There is no reason to take out corkscrew it's a fun ride and the second hill gives great air time. Mantis is a fun ride again no reason for it to leave. Also don't forget no matter what your coaster lineup is you'll always have rides that a weaker than the others. I would love to have any of these rides in a park near me.
