Only the people who want it to be torn down.

It seems odd to me that you think a park re-naming a ride is odd, but re-naming the park in support of an event is not odd. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Yeah, I know. I don't even know why it bugs me. I just can't help it, I guess. Oh, well.:)

Possibly, its on Mantis and BS midway today ;)
I'm wondering if that Mantis test paint might NOT be for it but for something else entirely different. Might find out soon...

I think this is a big hint to what ride will become the "King James" coaster. But could it also mean that the "Mantis" name might change for good, possibly to Rougarou?

Either that or because if it is a 1996 fact sheet, it may say something about the original name, Banshee. It was then to Mantis. But if Mantis does get changed to King James or Rougarou, then it will be the only ride at the point to have THREE different names! :)

I am thinking that next year we will see a new Mantis with floorless trains, a new color scheme and I am going out on a limb to say an actual theme as well. I can even see some sort of enclosed queue with some sort of pre ride show or presentation. Wishful thinking on my part on the queue but considering that the basic bones are already there and the investment amount will not need to be astronomical.
Oh and my other guess is that it will be named "King James" for Halloweekends.
I'm confused about this, if you don't like Mantis right now how are floorless trains going to help the ride and turn it into something special?
It would change it because it would no longer be a stand-up ride.

Because standing up on a roller coaster sucks. i would rather ride Mean Streak in the last seat 5 times in a row before riding Mantis while standing once.
^I completely agree.
And remember, there is the rumor that Mantis will be closing for an overhaul in September and will become King James temporarily before its closure.
I still take this rumor with a grain of salt, but maybe it does have to truth to it. We'll just have to wait and see. WE're bound to get an announcement within the next month so we won't have to wait too much longer to find out everything about 2015.

So its the stand up aspect, Ok. That was completely obvious to me when i asked the original question. If Mantis is boring and dull standing up, it will be boring and dull sitting down. I'm still not sure how its a great idea, and more importantly a good return on investment to make it floorless.
Only time will tell...
Well, if we rename it King James this season and Rougarou next season, then that makes FOUR name changes for the same ride experience!

I think coaster fans would be surprised how much Mantis' ride experience improved if were to be changed to a sit-down coaster, which would be the best way to enjoy the positive and negative G-forces! Making it a floor-less would just be a bonus, such a nice B&M twister with a nice first drop and first loop! It will be a comfortable/enjoyable ride for all guests and will be a new must ride at CP!! Give it a new paint job, theme, add a lil something to the queue line to add to the experience and you got yourself a legit/new attraction! I would be for the same to be done to Raptor as well! Crazy to say that the #1 park in the world still has so much potential to grow!
The other plus of converting the ride to floorless is that it can be marketed as a new attraction. It's similar to how EPCOT markets the "new" Test Track here in Florida. Transforming Mantis into Rougaru (sp?) could be one of the best, most cost effective ideas to date. You essentially get a new, marketable ride experience with very little capital spent.
That's if the ride can easily be transitioned. No one except the B&M engineers really know for sure if the ride can be converted or not.
