That was the most ridiculous article ever!

What's funny about this hitting headlines is the fact that it opened later in the evening. If it was shut down the rest of the day and caused an accident, then it would be more news worthy.

Guess it was a slow news day in Michigan.

Someone threw their cup of Coke through my cracked open car window in the CP parking lot 2 hours ago, maybe I should call the TV station and get my 15 minutes of fame for being an amusement park crime victim.

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Kings Island took out their Togo stand-up over a decade ago. Rumor was that parts were hard to come by. I wonder how long the one at Kings Dominion will last.

I rode Shockwave at KD earlier (TOGO stand up coaster) this year and its not a bad ride, although very low capacity. Id ride it over Mantis any day. CW removing theirs doesn't surprise me, I wonder who is going to remove theirs next. :)

Almost certainly KD.

Alot more issues plagued Togo coasters..which is why it was removed @ KI..

Inferior metal, company going under, etc.

I rode Shockwave at King's Dominion a few weeks ago and the capacity sucked. The ride was very short too. The only reason I rode it was because it was my first KD visit.

Somehow KD has kept theirs working with inferior metal and company going under. I really didn't feel the TOGO was a bad ride at all, but not worth the wait. It will be gone soon, just like some other standups.

KI's was dismantled for those issues and to provide it's parts for the remaining TOGO coasters in the chains operation.

...and to make way for that great ride - Son of Beast!

Actually, it was still operating when Son of Beast opened.

If the ride will get a modified layout, there is a bit of evidence. There is a picture of green and teal track where the green corresponds to what is being painted onto Mantis now... (although this is unbanked track which shouldn't have to be replaced other parts of the layout are.) However, this looks more like station/brake/lift track with a weird spine... like the curves on a brake run, which wouldn't be replaced. This probably isn't for Mantis, but this would still be a weird coincidence. Very interesting.

That track at the b&m plant doesn't look the same as the small area on Mantis. Mantis also has silver on the sides of the test patch.

Last edited by JUnderhill,

Was the silver painted on or was that the underlying metal (I don't know why, but whatever.) I wasn't sure.

The silver was painted, from the picture it is hard to tell but riding the train gives you a quick, but better look at the spot.
