Jeff- I've had enough. Grow up.

There, I finally said it. I've had enough. Everyone says this is a "community" that's so nice and neat and close. Fact is, it's not. And the members are getting dumber and dumber.

GTTP used to be a great place. People used to be friendly. Then came "I shell out a grand a month for bandwidth" and everything went down hill. Jeff, I would hope to God that you realize how you have changed since GTTP started. You used to say that you and your site were here because of your love of the Point. Now all it seems you and your comrades talk about is the money issue.

I would hope you don't share the same ideals with your volleyball girls as you do with us. I hope you don't constantly remind them how much money you spend on bandwidth each month.

So with that, I finally bid a bitter farewell, along with encouraging others to do the same, to Guide to the Point.

Oh, just one more thing. Before everyone thinks I'm just blowing off steam, I want you to all know that I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Jeff- You used to be a nice guy. Then something happened. I miss the friendly Jeff. If he were still around, I would be too.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass!

And don't even bring my kids into it. You don't know a damn thing about me or what I have to deal with in real life.

The fact is, I doubt anyone here wants you around if you're going to call them dumb and dumber. It shows real class when you have to air out your frustrations in public looking for someone to jump on board and support you.

See ya. Can't say we'll miss you.

I'm afraid I don't really see what you're talking about.  What has changed specifically that prompted you to post something like this?  Oh, wait, you're probably not going to see this.

GTTP used to be a great place. People used to be friendly. Then came "I shell out a grand a month for bandwidth" and everything went down hill.

I think for the most part people here ARE friendly.  There's been a recent influx of people both here and on CoasterBuzz, some of whom have increased the noise levels, but that's what happens with the offseason.

And the "money issue" really hasn't been talked about here all that much.  It's been discussed some, both here and on the Buzz (especially on the Buzz, in light of the club), but it certainly hasn't been a major sticking point, nor does it signify a major turning point, at least IMHO.

You're welcome to your opinion, of course, but I'm afraid I really don't see the "problems" you do, and claim that "other members" do as well.

I respect your opinion, Greg, and I thank you for respecting mine. I've been around since the begining. My original member number was around 30 or so. I used to be known as Coaster Pants. And yes, things have slowly gotten less and less friendly to people just asking honest questions. Then came the search feature...

I just figured you'd do that for me, Jeff... Unless you're as entertained by this as I think you are...

You can delete it for him like the mods on Something Awful do, if someone posts a "last thread" they're automatically banned.  A lot of their forum rules are much stricter than here, heck their mods give themselves the right to basically delete a user's account whenever they feel like it.  And all new users pay $9.95 for a forum account there, period.  I think it's why I've started to get away from the 'net coaster community a little bit and lean more towards my geek side online.  With that in mind, bye Squishy, and next time, just delete your account after your first "goodbye" post, makes you more credible.

But was it all real fun?"

SquishyPants, I highly recomend you read the Libera Manifesto [http://www.lockergnome.com/manifesto.html]. It takes a LOT to run any website, especially ones like GTTP and CB. I for one am thankful for the sacrifices Jeff makes so I can stay abreast with the industry.

I also think it's pretty bad when you bring his personal life into this - if you and others don't like how someone's behaving online, then tell them. This kind of thing should have been taken care of via email (a simple "I think you're out of line" would probably have been a lot more effective than a personal attack in public).

Jeff, I've disagreed with things you've said/done before, but never strongly enough to criticize and attack your character in public. All in all, the sites you run are sites I read every day, and provide some great content I just can't get anywhere else and would sorely miss. Thanks for all your hard work.

Jeff grow up, you show us your ignorance when you post a reply like you did in this thread.  As for Squishy Pants, I understand completely!
Jeff, I respect your opinion, but as you just showed us, you cannot at least post something sensible. "don't let the door hit you on the ass!" where did that come from? I support you and your site, but sometimes I do think you need to stop and take a look around...Squishy, you too.

2002:Its gonna shock you!
Oh, wait, it already shocked me, its Tuesday..
The reason the world is in the shape it is today is that people cannot respect the right for somebody else to have an opinion.  That said, I wish we could all keep the discussion focused on what we love...Cedar Point...and leave the personal attacks out of it.

If you don't have something nice to say....

Well at least Squishy has finally left. (at least it looks that way:))

I found this site back in the early days when it was still UBB.

How has this site changed, just start with the forums themselves, which Jeff has redesigned and built POP FORUM for us to enjoy. (If there is a better forum software out there on the net I would like to see it)

Anyhow, each year we have seen an influx of new members during the off season, one thing we (those who have been around for awhile) have to remember is to be patient with the newbies. The new members weren't here when we had discussions on any number of topics (ie. CP has a space problem). But, that is also why we have moderators.

As for the money issue, it seems people forget that yes this is a labor of love for Jeff but it does cost money. At some point in time we all have "stopped doing something" we enjoy because of the costs involved. I know Jeff has NO PLANS to alter GTTP but please respect the fact we are guests to HIS site.

Now something CP related....First ride in 2002...MF or Wicked Twister or something else?

Mantis.. as it has been every year since it opened for me..

June 11th, 2001 - Gemini 100

I could really use a lullabye swing on Iron Dragon.  I think Gemini was my first ever, but that last bank really surprised my abdomen.  Mine Ride followed, but it was a little funky with the dip turn and drop on the hills.  I just went to heaven on Iron Dragon though.  I wish they had one of those that you can sleep on.  It's such a smooth journey.
-----------------
I've ridden the big ones, but Iron Dragon is still my baby.
My first 'stay'@ CoasterBuzz was...let's say...less than pleasant.  After posting a link or two on the existence (then rumored) of a 700 foot Arrow coaster and waxing poetic about the Magnum, I found dealing with few of the posters rather tiresome.

Then Jeff closed a thread I really liked.  At that time, that was the last straw.

But no one heard me whining and moaning like a baby about it. I didn't litter the forum with posts.  I just closed my account and left.

I don't see why anyone else would ruin our good time bellyaching like SquishyPants.  Frankly, the last thing you want to do is leave and leave and leave again.  People resent that...and don't welcome you back should you change your mind.

I may agree, disagree and strongly beg to differ with anyone here on this forum...but I still consider them my friends.  I'd like to keep it that way.

-CPlaya

PS - BTW, I still lurk and ocasionally post on CBuzz now.  I still pull up The Magnum Love Thread every once in a while on CBuzz, too....but I guess that's just me.  There's a couple of good tales if you get past the arguing...

*** This post was edited by CoastaPlaya on 11/29/2001. ***

I've been here since around the UBB days as well, and I don't see why SquishyPants was in such a tizzy. All I can say is "See ya!"

"Don't let the door hit you in the ass!" is sensible, it's a response to someone that's usually ungrateful, and that was my interpretation of SquishyPants' post.

But that might just be me...

Completely understand Matt2003 an Coasting along im on your side.
