Or the fact that this is going to be western themed...possibly in an old western town in the desert...which means it would cost a lot less to shoot it in an actual western town in the desert. Hence the reason for casting in LA.
That would be funny if he pushed it the wrong way. ;)

Coming Soon! Star Wars episode 7- The Fallen Hero
episode 8- The Republic in Crisis
episode 9- Victory of the Force
OK, this is confirmed. This is for Cedar Point and it is for Maverick. Now that I know this is definitely for Cedar Point, I will provide fun stuff and Walt will eventually confirm I'm not making this crap up.
I also have the sides, copy of the script, for this spot.
It's hard to decipher exactly what the ride will be like according to the script, but it seems like Maverick will not be a tall coaster. It will stay relatively low to the ground with a lot of twists and turns.
I'm having fun with this now and you will all owe me an apology when you see this promo video.
Woohoo for me for actually finding something fun and new regarding Maverick, I should be given a reward.
Possible tag lines....
The old west was never this wild.
It's a whole new breed.
Ride 'em cowboy
Pup, your story makes complete sense. I laugh that everybody brings up spelling. Didn't we just have a thread about a misspelled word on the Cedar Point website? It happens.
I think people are jealous that you could find some information they can't. Even if you made this up, most of the stuff posted about the ride is made up.
I'm guessing Walt won't be able to post your proof since it probably has a copyright issue involved. But if any of this is true, the annoucement might be way off.
Where the previous spots take place. With the invention of the green screen, most of it can be done anywhere. But I do know during my employment, they offered 4 different times (MF,TTD(twice),maxair) for staff to be in TV spots and picture ads. Granted there were no close ups. You still got to ride for 3 hours straight!

I like the last tag line, "Ride 'em Cowbow!" Simple, yet directive;).

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.
Prospector with his mule, Jack.
The prospector talks about "lookin' for it."
The settlers said if he found it, he'd regret it. But he did end up finding it.
"We come on this underground tunnel...dark as Tennessee Tar..."
He found the mother load, trains of gold, silver, and bronze.
He climbed on board and the trains came to life.

Watching that video of the gemini commerical made me think of the centruians from battlestar galactica.... not galactica 1980 though... i wish i could forget that horriable show

with that much right there it sounds like a lot of themeing will be going in place for Maverick.
If this is true, is this indication CP is planning to give themeing another shot? Kinzel has been outspoken about how they let the effects in Disaster Transport deteriorate, and they have shied away from heavy theming since. Considering Cedar Fair just added 5 major parks to their portfolio, how long can they say "We don't theme because we're not good at it."?
I would love to see the launch in a dark cave with a nice starburst lighting effect, flying out of the cave into the close calls.

I don't know about you guys, but I see the potential for some spectacular effects.
"Bustin' through trees-flyin by rocks-one close call after the next."
Sounds like they're at least adding some rockwork around the site.
If they do decide to theme this one, lets hope they keep it up better than the long-neglected trip to Alaska.
Dead Men Tell No Tales
I was hoping they would effort a little more than some shockcrete and vegetation, though. I'm not expecting Disney-caliber stuff, but if they pass up something with this much theme potential, then taking over the Paramount properties could have been biting off more than they can chew.
Dead Men Tell No Tales
I wouldn't read too much into this stuff. If true, they're filming a commercial. A commercial has to capture the imagination of people, and to do that you need excitement and so forth. So, the fact that they are using adjectives and nouns in the description of the commercial may not mean anything. Go watch the Raptor promo again - does CP have any giant eggs laying around Raptor? How about actual flying animals? Or perhaps a mechanically-controlled falling tree?

They did when it was built. Or at least Jungle Larry did. Just another piece of theming that was allowed to fall by the wayside.

Oh, man - Jungle Larry's. I really miss those days. In fact, I'd trade back TTD and MF (so they'd have room for PT) to get it back to that setup.

I understand that the promo must capture the imagination, but CP has an opportunity here that they did not have with Raptor: A working concept and theme that would translate into a compelling visual for the ride. Giant eggs and cartoon birds would have obviously looked goofy on Raptor, but just picture the concept for the promo video applied to the ride. P 2007 is replacing a FAMILY ride, so why not make it something the family can enjoy? Instead of getting the thrill from 300-foot heights and 100 mph speed, what about exciting darkness and theme effects?
