I'm an actor in Los Angeles and was suprised to see this project breakdown currently being cast.
Cedar Point seems so far away, but given the description and timing, seems like it's not just a coincidence. Perhaps they'll have some kind of commercial or promotional video for the new coaster.
Copy and paste doesn't work well with the breakdown, hope it all shows up.
CEDER POINT
Industrial
CATEGORY 2 SAG INDUSTRIAL RATE
Gunfighter - Lead - Male 25 to 35 - THIS GUY IS THE CLASSIC "FAST" GUN CHARACTER FROM THE WESTERNS. BESIDES HAVING THE RUGGED, WESTERN LOOK, HE NEEDS TO REALLY BE ABLE TO PROJECT THE CHARACTER AND HANDLE THE GUN. THINK DEADWOOD LEAD SHERIFF TIMOTHY OLDFANT, OR YOUNG DOC HOLLIDAY, WYATT EARP, SAM ELLOIT OR ROBERT DUVALL.
Calvalry Officer - Male 35 to 45 - THIS GUY IS BRAVE, STALWART CAVALRY OFFICER. HE EXPRESSES HIMSELF WITH A BIT OF FORMALITY. HE HAS SOME EDUCATION AND IS A BIT STERN AND PROPER, WITH A STRONG SENSE OF JUSTICE AND HONOR.HE WROTE FAITHFULLY TO HIS BELOVED, AND SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON . HE SPEAKS TO US FROM A HORSE OUT ON THE PLAINS. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE COULD HAVE THE CAMERA FOLLOW HIM AS HE RIDES. THINK JOHN WAYNE OR HENRY FONDA.
Prospector - Male 50 to 80 - THIS GUY IS THE GRIZZLED OLD PROSPECTOR OF THE WESTERN GENRE. HE COULD BE CRAZY...OR HE MIGHT BE ABLE TO LEAD YOU TO THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE. HE CAN PROVIDE ......A TOUCH OF COMINC RELIEF. WE FIND HIM PANNING FOR GOLD BY A MOUNTAIN STREAM WHERE HIS TRUSTY MULE STANDS BY LOADED DOWN . THINK EDMUND O'BRIEN, WALTER HUSTON OR WALTER BRENNAN.

If Cedar Point weren't misspelled, I might have given this a tiny bit of credit as possibly being somewhat credible.

This would pose a question from me. When was the last time Cedar Point used actors to promote a new ride theme? Other than the birds for Castaway.

I noticed the breakdown had some spelling errors which, unfortunately, is a fairly common occurance in casting breakdowns.
The fact that Cedar is spelled as "Ceder" did make me hesitate for a minute, but it seems so closely related to the new ride that I found it very interesting.
It might not have anything to do with Cedar Point at all, it may just be a coincidence, but figured it was worth a look.
I wouldn't be so quick to blow this off. I have no information to speak of but some of the promotional videos were cast with actors. Mantis comes to mind. It was some kind of "Mad Scientist" character. I think the Raptor video also had actors. I have both at home but haven't looked at them in a long time.
I see Cedar Point misspelled all the time so I wouldn't write off the story just based on that.

This IS Hollywood we're talking about. They have more important things to do like tell the rest of us how to live our lives.
I'll have to go with Chief on this, it wouldn't surprise me if this were the case. Although, there are no actors in the Raptor video. Its a computer animation followed by sound bites from various park management, an enthusiast and Claude.

Okay, I'll concede that much. Curious though - would CP's ad firm really have to go all the way to the West Coast for a couple of low-grade commercial actors?
Brandon
Why try and find them in the midwest when you can go to LA where its like shooting fish in barrel? There are so many actors out there who will work for next to nothing just so their face gets on something that you can't compete here.
Now, that's not to say you couldn't find some local community theater people to do it, but you have a much larger pool to choose from out there to make sure you get the ones you want.

I would give the Ceder a pass, but Timothy Oldfant? I think that the actor's name would be spelled correctly also. If not correctly, at least close. Not even looking it up, but I believe its Olyphant.
Okay, I looked, that is right.
Oh yeah, and Elloit? Looks like a five-year-old wrote this.

The reason I posted this was because I was curious, considering the information, if other people thought this was a project for Cedar Point's new ride. I am leaning more towards yes than no.
This is a SAG Industrial project, it's Union, and there are very few Union actors outside of Los Angeles and New York. The pay rate is also not too shabby. They also do various Industrual projects for Six Flags and Knotts.
If the debate is whether or not I made this up for some reason, I can forward someone a copy of the notice. After that, they can confirm that this is legit. Anyway, if I were going to make something up, I would do a much better job than this.
I thought Raptor had a kid on a bike trying to pedal away really fast as the Raptor swooped down. Maybe I am getting my Birds of Prey mixed up.

I think you do.
The Raptor promo showed a (CGI) nest on the very tip of a pine tree (I'm still trying to work out the physics). The tree was cut down, and the egg landed on the ground. It then grew about 3 sizes that day and a claw broke out toward the camera.
It then shows a flyby of the park from 1989 (Magnum existed and DT was uncovered) while flipping to images of the birds eye. Then it starts the sound bites while continuing a flyby of the future site. Then after the silhouette of the ride is shown, it starts showing CG footage of the ride in operation, very rough though, not as detailed as today's animations.
Goodbye MrScott

haha. I love the Gemini commercial. They make it seem like an evil monster who's going to kill you! Its pretty funny.

I have a little tangential experience with Hollywood, in that I have a screenplay currently represented by a production company and making the rounds at the studios. I've also taken screenwriting courses and have read up on the industry fairly thoroughly. That 'breakdown' looks and sounds authentic to me. I've seen plenty of scripts and treatments that are riddled with errors.
Most advertising work lands in either LA or New York, so if CF were indeed commissioning a commercial, that is the logical place for a casting call.
Also, I can guarantee that in every commercial of Cedar Point you've ever seen, virtually every person you see (at least in close-up) is a paid, professional actor.
I'm not saying I'm any more sure than any of the rest of you about this, only that there's nothing in the post to contradict its validity.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
Does anyone know where I can find the Skyhawk Commercial with the swooping birds? I've yet to see it, and I can't find it on the internet.
Here's another "interesting" view of the MF promo.
