The weather in October can get below freezing, especially at night, it has happened before. Yet even with that knowledge, the GP turn out in mass for Halloweekends. I don't think an April opening would keep people away, if they do something for the weekends.

Yes. I would also go in January, if they were open. They could have Christweekends in December.
That sounds way too goy for me.

Actually, April is colder than October in Sandusky. The average low temps for the month of April range from about 32F-42F, whereas the average low for October ranges from about 38F-50F. May ranges from about 38F-52F for its low temperature, which more closely mimics the average lows for October. Hmm... maybe the CP management has checked these numbers too? ;)
Its also noteworthy that snowfall finds its way into almost the entire month of April as well, but only about half of October's.

The reason people turn out in droves for Halloweekends is because people actually *LIKE* the halloween attractions.
Easterweekends just doesn't sound cool.
If cp opened in April, it would be extremely difficult to get enough people to work. But even those who could work, would have to be seriously out of their mind because I worked last season, and there were some days in May that it was sooo effin cold. I froze my balls off. Not to mention the wind. Those days were wretched. And granted I didn't work Halloweekends, but May was bad enough.
Notice on the CP.com banner how you can still operate the roller coasters, even though it is snowing, lol.

Theres a motto in the running community:
"There is no such thing as bad weather, you're just dressed wrong".
My wife and I would be there, and we're not "psycho".
We were at Stone Mountain in Georgia a couple of weeks ago and it was in the 50's. We were freezing our chestnuts off while riding their train and wished we were standing by an open fire.

Kevinj, the interesting thing about craziness, is that its not the minority that decides who is "psycho" and who isn't.....its the majority.

I'm sure all those people in New Orleans were dressed wrong at the beginning of September. ;)
I guess SCUBA gear might have been acceptable, but I still don't see how anyone could have held up against those winds.

Chief Wahoo, you were freezing in 50 degree weather? I don't wear a coat sometimes when its in the 50s. Of course, I'm used to walking to and from school everyday in single digit temps during the winter (I live almost right across the street). My cousins from Florida couldn't stay outside in the snow for more than 10 minutes whenever they came up for Christmas a few years ago.

MrBlueStreak64,
You will notice that as you get older, you are more aware of the cold. And dislike it even more as the years pass...Right Chief?

I think moving to Florida has more to do with me not enjoying the cold anymore rather than getting older.
But, even if I thought I could tolerate it I probably wouldn't subject my child to that cold April weather. Heck, I didn't enjoy walking from my car to the office in that weather.
I'll tell you another thing....When a hotel has been closed for 5 months without heat it takes quite a while to get rid of the chill.

Personally I like snow and cold. It means shinny season is right around the corner.

Hey Wahoo, where in Florida do you live? I'm here on the west coast in Fort Myers.
