Sweet, the photos are up! Thanks Walt.:)

R.I.P. Mr. Scott

What is the new souvenior cup this year look like? And are the free refills back???

Did MF have all the cool lighting effects going on the lift hill last night? I looked at the webcams at about 9:30pm and I didn't see them.

Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless

^^Here's a picture of this year's cup...

I'm not sure about the refills though.

cdrptrks, Millennium's lights were on last night. *** Edited 5/13/2007 6:52:12 PM UTC by DBCP***

MF did have the lighting effects on, but I do not know exactly when they started

R.I.P. Mr. Scott

They were definitely on at 9:30.

How was opening day?

Cold. :)

It was fun. There were some glitches around the park (the poor people at Coasters in the morning.. their cash registers were totally on the fritz, and they didn't know what to do), but on the whole it was smooth and enjoyable.

Quick points outside of the typical "omg i luv ceder point":
- No trims on Magnum niiice
- The new cameras on Raptor are somewhat pointless
- Wireless internet in Donut Time works excellently
- The OSU band was a pretty cool addition
- Maverick looks like it's going to be increeddiiibbllee, it looks even better in person than in pics
- I loved the new gates to keep out people not Joe Cool/resorts.. I remember it barely being enforced last year
- Opening Day crowd + hundreds of bands/choruses for "Music in the Parks" = unnecessarily packed
- Although I missed the meetup (in line for MF with some friends), I ran into a few PointBuzz people throughout the day (the "magnum is sinking" shirt really creates a great conversation piece ;))

I'll probably writing up a TR later tonight or tomorrow for more info.

2010 - Season pass holder.

My son and I went yesterday and had a great time. We hit alot of rides we typically don't go on such as the Paddleboat Excursion, etc. We did Raptor twice, Magnum twice, MF once, WT once, Mean Streak Once, and a few other flats. We hada great time! We have season passes so i wasn't as pressed to get on EVERYTHING as fast as I could!

One other thing, the ride ops were definitely enjoying their job. The guy with short blonde hair on TTD said several variations of "enjoy your ride on Top Thrill Dragster, the best stratacoaster on the planet" and on Wicked Twister I definitely heard the classic "how was your ride? wiiickkkeeeddd" :)

The souvenir cups better be free refills, they are $7.95

If I'm not mistaking... I could have swore that I saw refills were $1.99

Season Pass Holder Since 1998!

Ride On Mr. Scott!

I think refills were only free last fall in an effort to try and sellout as many of the remaining Dragster cups as possible.

While riding Disaster Transport on opening day, I noticed that two of the big rooms in the middle of the ride were empty. There was just enough light shining through that I was able to notice the complete lack of scenery in those rooms.

^ DT has barely any theming anymore. It barely had any before too. They need to take that ride down. I go on it when its a hot day and need AC *** Edited 5/14/2007 2:23:38 AM UTC by Warriors20***

Ride On

Even if they removed all the themeing and made it just a dark ride I wouldnt complain too much. Its not an amazing ride, but its not a bad mid day escape either. I usually end up riding it when Im there just because.

When the park opened, I debated between Dragster or Millennium, and decided to go to Dragster with Joe Cool. When they opened the ride, they were loading 4 rows. The cool weather caused a significant number of rollbacks, so they only loaded 3 rows. With three rows, the trains were going "over easy" as some people I was in line with were saying. When the train I was on launched, going through the twist, I thought there was plenty of speed. But to my surprise, when I got to the top, the train stopped and started going backwards. I don't think I've ever screamed as loud on a coaster as I have then. (Screams of joy)

The PointBuzz BBQ went well too. Thanks to everyone who helped put that together. I agree that riding with the 8 or so people after the BBQ was a blast. One of the better trips I've had.

I will comment, that the staff seemed to be extra courtious and cheerful. Cedar Point seems to have good staff when it comes to customer service, but yesterday they seemed to be doing good, even for Cedar Point. Good job to the entire staff.

Overall a good day. Being able to do the early entry turned out to be a major plus due to the large crowds later in the day.

I didn't know about the 'music in the park' program; I simply called it 'Loud obnoxious teenyboppers get in free' day.

Very bad day to be an 'M' ride:

Down all day: Maverick, Matterhorn

Down at some point during the day: Magnum, Mean Streak, MaXair & Mine Ride (then when opened had absolutely terrible load times, many were 5+ minutes).

I know about new crews and all, but when Mantis comes close to making interval and Mine Ride takes as long to load as Monster, there have to be some other issues going on.

Another puzzler was the fact that the souviner maps werent avalible; I was told they "werent done printing yet" at a few gift shops. I collect them and have one every year going back nearly 20 years so that was dissapointing. My overall impression was that CP was off its game a bit, and I've done several opening days over the years.

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

Add Mantis to that "down for maintenance with a name beginning with 'M'" list.
