First of all, a lot of your questions have been answered, even just recently. It just requires a little reading.
The drama that was being talked about was drama at Commons, not at Golds. I think you misread that. It's been talked about just recently that Golds does not open until Memorial Day weekend or a few days later, usually. You will need to live at Commons or Bayside until it opens. When it opens, however, you will be able to get right in, as most people who live in Golds get there in June. Also, there ARE a lot of two person rooms at Golds, so, it will definitely be possible to get one.
You should bring the normal stuff one would bring to college. Bedding (although, if you truly do not want to bring yours, you can get bedding and towels from housing; however, they are not the nicest)...a fan is generally a good idea...comfortable shoes (a pair or two for work, depending on what you want to buy...work shoes need to be at least 90% white. It's a good idea to have two pairs, because, being a sweep, you work out in the elements, and when they get wet, you'll have a backup pair. Also, a pair of sandals for shower shoes is good). Bring some clothes to wear outside of work; however, do realize that most of your time will be spent at work, and you don't have much storage space.
You should be prepared for long hours, hot weather, plenty of rain, but a fun summer. You will have time to just hang out and get to know your coworkers, which is nice. As a sweep, you will do a LOT of walking, so, make sure your shoes are comfortable. It all depends on staffing as to how many hours you will work. Most of the time, you will get one day off a week, but, when staffing is low, you may not get a day off at all. It's not rare at the beginning and the end of the season to work about 70ish hours, but, it makes for a good paycheck. In the middle of the summer, though, expect less hours...a lot of times, depending on staffing, like I said, you can work as low as 45-50ish hours.
Louies is like any bar, basically. Since it is so close to Commons, it's where a lot of employees go. You must be 19 to get in. As other people have said, there are a lot better bars to go to in the area, but, as for the convenience factor, you can't beat just walking across the bridge and a small field to get to it.
And as for drug tests...yes, you will have to take a drug test. It's the basic pee in a cup drug test. You will do this during processing in. Also, you can get randomly drug tested throughout the summer.
I hope this answered all of your questions!

Honestly, if you're taking summer courses online, Cedar Point might not be the place for you to work. The wireless connection in the dorms is iffy at best a lot of the time (depending on when you use it and how many people are on it), so, it wouldn't be wise to use that for classwork. Your other option would be to use the computers in the Rec Center, but, there's always a wait, and you have a short time limit. Compared with hours, you might not find a lot of time to do your work. I'm not saying it's impossible, but, it will be very hard to manage your time between work and schoolwork.
However, if it is just the spring semester of classes, that would be a lot easier to work with. Since, at the beginning of the season, the park closes earlier, you would find more time to finish up your schoolwork. As I said, it would be difficult, but, not impossible...and it would certainly be easier than taking summer courses.
Do remember, also, that you will get a day off most of the time. If possible, before your day off you will get out of work early, and will come in in the afternoon afterwards. If the work isn't TOO hard in the classes, and if possible for you, you could do a lot of it on your day off.

Its not that bad. I lived in gold the girls on point dorm. You can put an AC they charge you but well worth it. On point is much much quiter than commons which i prefer.

And if your friend is looking for cheap accommodations, you can always rent a room at the Dusk til Dawn.
All except that the Dusk til Dawn is now gone and a CiCi's Pizza and Aspen Dental has replaced it. As well as most of the other smaller cheap over night stay places. I believe the Mecca Motel is gone, the Bay shore campground is gone, well yeah. Let me tell you times have changed fast for this area. ;)
Just your usual come and go poster. One week I am here, then I disappear for a while.
I have been hired as an intern in the PR/Marketing department and will be moving in on May 3rd. What is the best place for me to try and get into and what are the chances of getting where I want to be? I know a lot of people have given their opinions on the different options but I was wondering what my situation should be at the beginning of May.
Commons will be open at least a week before opening day, if not earlier.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
the dorms are better than the apartments at commons. 16 people who dont clean up after themselves all summer just wont work.

its possible. Let the clerks up by the desks know that when you choose your room, its usually pretty easy to do
What size beds are in each dorm?
This one's tricky. You have to use imaginary numbers, like eleventeen ...
