Christie, I'm pretty sure that you can buy an A/C for Bayside. Otherwise, it doesn't come with any of it's own :o)

Yes, you can have A/C in Bayside. You and your roomates have to pay so much a week to have it and the electrians are surpose to put it in. Which it also depends if all the A/C have been rented or not...

I believe you can use it as long as you get approval. In addition, I think they charge you a little extra out of your check for the power consumption.

It was a safety issue in my day because of the electrical load that an a/c can draw. Afterall that fine alminium wiring may not be able to handle more than a curling iron and a toaster

I am not kidding about the commons apartments! They were like jail cells without the bars! I did trash however my room and what CP called a kitchen.

I thought that rain gutters were required under Ohio building codes. And of course there are none, if you live in the commons apartments go up into the attic and look at the balsa wood construction, I did one time when I was very drunk and you could get into other apartments through the ceiling if so inclined. Not a very good idea as I am sure that security would not take kindly; thus I just looked around and marveled at the firetrap that I was housed in!

My apartment in Bayside had 2 bedrooms. One held 4 people and the other 2. I've lived in Gold dorms its not the hilton by any standards but it can be tolerable. Its old and the bathrooms are kinda nasty. But if you have no car and are underage then its a good bet. I kinda sorta also lived in Commons Apts once. It was ok.. Hot as Hell. And the bathrooms were alittle better. (Although i think 16 guys and 2 toilets is a little smelly) THis past year I lived at Bayside which i must say was awesome. Yeah it was hot and yeah its not the fanciest but i had my own bathroom and a full kitchen. The only draw back i think me and my roomate (we had the smaller bedroom) had was the procreation taking place in the living room. So it was either stay in our bedroom or leave the apt. But anyway I digress. I personally liked Bayside. Just wish it was Air conditioned.

A U-Boat during WW2 had 80 guys and one toilet! The smell of the cedars and the old dorms would bring back memories for one of those old blokes. It was really bad in my day and I am glad I lived in the what is now called the Commons Apartments. It was a steambath all year and I showered infrequently as cleanlieness was not needed for food service work.

I would clean up to go look for girls in the park after work though. When I worked at the Frontier Inn I would be allowed to take a "whores bath" in the bathroom to clean up after work. I would stand naked in the bathroom in a plastic 5 gallon container of hot water and soap to clean up because I arranged my break to be the last half hour of my shift. I would put on my grimy work clothes, go clock out with my hidden beer and some clean clothes and go play in the park.

I wonder how many others did this sort of thing as it was easier than going back to clean up and then go into the park. Now I understand the Brownshirts search everything that an employee may bring into the park which is wrong!

If you want to sneak in gin or vodka just put it in a Sprite or 7 UP bottle and put it in your bag. Just make sure you dont spill it on your clothes as it really smells!

None of the places are bad as long as you're not a slob and you clean it. If you live in a spot without AC, get it. The investment is well worth it. We never told anyone when we got ours, and noone noticed/cared. Fans help, but AC makes all the difference in the world- buy it. Believe me, when you're walking back from a shift in 90+ weather and you open your room and it feels like a fridge, you will be quite happy with your $150 investment.

As I said, none of the places really suck if you clean them up nicely and take care of your room. It sounds like a bunch of you have never lived in college dorms. Bring a few posters. Bring a little area rug. Make sure your slob roomies clean up too, and if they don't then get a white shirt and hint that they should- that's pretty effective.

I had a white shirt after me as well, and I had my room to myself for a month! Just imagine 200 beer bottles/cans on the floor and other assorted trash.

Ok i have a question for anyone who lived in commons or bayside last year. Do you know of any easy way to get a non employee into the dorm without going through check in. What works and what can u think of?

Steve, are you begging to get yourself (and your friend) in trouble? Just sign them in at the check in desk... it can't be that painful. And if your friend is looking for cheap accomodations, you can always rent a room at the Dusk til Dawn or bring a tent and go camping somewhere off-Point. I doubt your roommates (of which there would be many) would appreciate a non-employee moving in and taking up what precious space there is. Before long, you would be reported; it's just not a good idea.

Well if I had a friend who was just staying for a night or two, and me and my roommate both want them to stay, how could I get around this no overnight guests rule?

Please (to all) don't post on here asking about how to break the rules. You don't know who is reading this and it doesn't make you look good. Be smart; just get a hotel or go camping -- it will be stress-free because you won't have to worry about what will happen if you are caught.

Hi amanda....sorry but unfortunately there is just nothing really good to say about the on-point dorms. Plain truth....they suck. Sorry

Dont you just hate being a quarter short to do your laundry? My life in a nutshell!

Personally, I would have to disagree. I lived in Gold and didn't have a problem with it. Yes, they were small and old and look run down, but I only had to live with one person, I could wake up 15 minutes before I had to be at work, and it was really close to the Employee Cafeteria. Me and my roommate had an AC window unit and an antenna for the TV so we could watch A LITTLE tv. ;) Some might not like it because it's old and dumpy, but I liked it because I thought it had personality and felt more livable and home like than commons dorms or apartments. Everyone has their own opinion about it, but I personally liked it. :)

Steve its really simple:follow the rules in this area especially! Breaking this rule will get you fired and you and your freind arrested. I broke alot of rules my summer there, but never this one because it is enforced rather draconianly. Dont be a jerk/moron.

So if you live in gold u only have one other person living w/ u? how hard is it 2 get n2 the gold dorms?

Gold is easy, its pretty old. It has no heat or ac. Not many people want to live there. I prefer gold it is quiet and much less drama
