yeah i just applied a few weeks ago. it would be my first year. i applied in rides but id pretty much do about anything. im looking for a roommate too! I think my app had a part time/full time option too but im not too sure! When will you be getting there? I will be getting there in early June and will be looking for a roommate too. Also, I know mine had a part/full time option. I hope that gets worked out for the people above who think they clicked the wrong one.
Ryan
Ill probably get there around the end of May/beginning of June once school is out
Yea the exclamation mark at the end of your first sentence kind of made it feel as though I was 'unwelcome'. It's cool though. I probably shouldn't have just assumed the tone in your post as being harsh. Sometimes it is hard to understand the tone in text.
Ryan
yeah the excalmation mark was prolly more me referring back to myself last year when I was a first year and all I wanted was a coaster. Come to find out I actually enjoyed myself the most at a childrens area. I never would have guessed. So take every ride as a something good. Not every ride may appear as glamorous as another but they are all just as good as long as there is a good crew to operate them.

Thanks for the words of encouragement and letting me know that having a coaster isn't the biggest thing in the world. Although I really, really want one ;)
Hopefully when I get up there after school is over we could hang.

Thats good to hear. Thanks a lot for the nice response. :)
I didnt mean for it to have a mean response. you took my words completely out of context. I just wanted you to know that its not the ride that makes your summer great. I dont want you to take me the wrong way. and sorry if you did.
Bahaha Kevin is that you?!?! you got a new name!! You're advice always comes off as rude. I feel like we've had this convo a billion times.

Don't worry tcgolfer, sir jerkface was you last year. He actually RUBBED it in my face when he got Raptor. But he also worked just about every dang ride in Area 1 (lucky), so he knows what he's talking about. Your crew will become your family (for better or worse lol). Trust me, the Twisted Bitch isn't the most exciting ride but my crew was definitely the greatest part of the summer =)

Hahaha that sort of makes me laugh.
Actually Wicked Twister is one of the coasters that I would love to work. Not the top one of course, but one that I would be happy with.

I'd definatly agree with the whole "crew makes the summer" motto that most ride hosts go with. When I found out that I was contracted to maXair I was kinda like "ehhhh, thats kinda lame" but in reality...I had the best summer of my life, cause my crew was UH-mazing! lol we had people from Millie,Top Thrill,Blue Streak, and a couple of other coasters that practically begged to cross train at maXair.
As for the part time/full time option...I definatly remember seeing that on my application when I filled it out online.

Since some questions were already being asked here, I figured it'd be easier to post this here instead of making a whole new thread. I really would love to work at Cedar Point this summer and applied very quickly after the application came out. However, I received an email today stating that if I do not live more then 4 hours away from the park I would be required to work at least 50% of the weekends in September and October. My college is a little over 3 hours away and I most likely will not have a car on campus next year, so this is something that really worries me. How strictly is this enforced? Also, the email stated I would have to start working 3 days after I get out of school this spring. I was hoping to delay working for a couple weeks because my brother is getting married May 21st- would I have to start working before this and just come back for the actual wedding date? Sorry for all the questions but I just wanted to clarify some things before sending a reply.
Talk with a manager when you get your interview. They are very helpful and I know my manager Debra is always willing to work with me and help me whatever way that she can. You will have to make some sacrifices for cedar point but if you talk to your manager they will do there best to work with you.

I'm with you sarahrachel. My college is just over 3 hours away too. Although for me school doesn't start till the 2nd weekend in September, I don't know how often I'm going to be able to get away from projects to work.
Ryan
They won't make you start 3 days after you get out of school. They will let you choose your process in date. Last year i had to wait until I graduated to process in, so I just chose to come up a couple days after that. They will ask you when you are available to start. As for working after the regular season...I never heard that. I went to school in Cincinnati, so pretty far but still do-able, and I did not work any weekends after September 9th. Who knows, maybe they actually got strict this year? I doubt it though. Yeah Wicked Twister was an okay choice for me too, what I found out sucks is standing around doing nothing for 60 seconds while the ride is running.

Honestly your contracted ride is not where you'll end up. It's quite customary for folks to show up expecting to be at their contracted ride, and BAM! Park Op hits you with Oh! you're on this ride.
Oh God Rian. Bahaha I just noticed.

Thanks for all your help. When the season rolls around and we're all processed in, assuming I get hired, we should all hang.

I applied for a ride host position. I just checked it at it still says "Your application will be reviewed for the job preferences for which you selected." So, it hasn't been reviewed by anyone yet.

When she calls tomorrow she will ask you questions like, are you afraid of heights, good with kids, ask you some questions about stress related jobs, and then basic questions like a normal job would ask you. Don't be nervous, Karrah is awesome. Good luck with the interview. Hopefully Ill see you around this summer.
