Halloweekends 2012

Maybe I missed something, but who said parking when up to 15 dollars? I just got to the park and it's still 12.

Jason, on the park website it says $15. I was just at the park very recently too and the signs said $12.

Ah, Maybe it goes up next weekend at the official start of Halloweekends.

Is this a joke? Surely a billion dollar company like Cedar Fair can hire a better web designer than this. Check out that horrendously annoying navigation. "Rides and Attractions", uh... where are the rides listings? Oh look, a drop down menu making navigation easier by giving me the option to select another attraction! Wait a sec... there's only 3 attractions to choose from there. Halloweekends only has 3 attractions?

*end rant. :-p

Yeah... It's definitely simple. But at least it doesn't have code exposed and seems easy enough to navigate. I have seen worse websites than this. They probably had to code this site up rather quickly. (Sorry this is coming from an art major who had to make a portfolio website for class...)

"Simple" I can live with, that's not the problem. It's the incompleteness and the user unfriendliness of it all. I didn't even get into how it simply describes every attraction as "attraction" rather than haunted house, outdoor haunt, live show, etc. Sure we all know what their talking about, but the person visiting Halloweekends for the first time doesn't know this.

Is there a show for HalloWeekends at the Palace? Or am I just missing it?

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

The site is literally thrown up there. It will be copied repeatedly for coast-to-coast usage by all parks. The navigation bar is slow and clumsy.

They would have done better by just adding a page to the regular website. There is a generic page at halloweekends.com, but still. And even the descriptions are "blah." Two lines for your big, new haunt? It tells me nothing and doesn't get me excited for it.

And I know the parade isn't "scary" and is on the family page, but shouldn't that also be a focus? I dunno. Looks and feels like there's a big lack of effort.

It only mentions Breakers and Breakers Express as the resorts too. I had to go to the regular resorts page to double check that LHP was open for Halloweekends.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Not to mention the fact that the description for Breakers Express is actually that of the Sandcastle. That, or the Breakers Express is now an "all suite hotel."

I totally agree. The websites are not designed in house like they were in years past. Between this HalloWeekends site, and other park sites around the chain, it seems that they are sometimes very sloppy.

I keep getting random popups when I slide over something. The show list is also incomplete and the map isn't legible because it doesn't zoom in.

Oh, and "Invite Your Friends" goes to the "Dates & Hours" page, but I digress. :)

Hmm, good points Rihard and I wish I had thought of that.

The Web site is awful. The seizure-inducing background is almost as bad as the seizure-inducing navigation. I hate that mystery pop-up nav that disappears if you move your mouse the wrong way. What a mess.

The web site isn't just a bad site. Am I the only one that gets a bad vibe from the new haunt sites? The old ones were kind of freaky and fun at the same time, just like halloweekends. It had that creepy music, awesome background, and an easy and cool way to read and see what the haunts were. It set the mood for this time of year and really got me pumped to go.

This new site has no music, awful background, and zero atmost"fear". ( <--- You see what I did there. Clever, No?) Anyway, I hope that they change it.

With that said I cant wait to go!!!!!!

^I completely agree. I LOVED the music and cool "sliding" background as you clicked on the different things. I also liked how the old sites had lots of creepy pictures of each haunt. I would go on and every couple of days make a different picture from each haunt the background on my computer. Another thing I miss is the general halloweekends video showing screamsters in action. With the music turned way up, and looking at the cool pictures, I'd imagine myself there and it would get me all pumped up. This year's site just makes me was to exit out of it I'm so disappointed..

I was happy that the site was up because that meant that Halloweekends was right around the corner... but I agree with everything that has been said on here.

I liked the old Halloweekends.com site.

Did I miss something, or is Dr. Cleaver not returning this year?

The website's so weak it's hard to tell what's going to be there and what's not..... very little info about much of anything, short of hours and coupons.

I am wondering why the Edge of Madness isn't listed as a family show? I didn't think 80's rock was that scary.

It seems like the dragon show near Windseeker has been replaced, and the Palace Theatre doesn't have anything in it. I guess Skeleton Crew somewhat was the replacement show.

Here is a helpful map with all of the shows and haunted attractions on it:
