I wonder how different it'll look for the skeleton show. I'm really excited to see it.
I assume it will be similar to the set-up at Canada's Wonderland (here's a not-great video of their show last year), although Luminosity in theory has more to play with equipment-wise.

Titandwedebil, only because I let your photobucket slideshow play through did I notice you go to Clay High School. I gradutaed from there in 2010. Small world, nice pictures by the way.

Awesome, thanks for sharing that.

Haha, that's amazing. That screenshot was actually taken from my Brother's account, I graduated from Clay in 2011. We probably passed each other in the hallways at least at some point, haha.
I assume that this show in a sense will be replacing Sideshow: A Carnival of Magic. Sideshow was probably my favorite show Cedar Point ever has put on. In general, I like quality of entertainment offered during autumn. I am sure this one will be awesome on the Luminosity Stage!
That's not necessarily true. Sideshow was done in the Jack Aldrich theater and I've yet to see if it's coming back or not. Skeleton Crew is being done on the Luminosity Stage, so there's a chance of Sideshow, which is also my favorite show at Cedar Point, coming back.

I'd like to see them bring Chris Linn back one of these seasons, that was probably my favorite Halloweekends show.
They haven't for several seasons now. Poe was replaced with the Dr. Cleaver shows at the Palace.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
^You definitely are not missing anything. The Cleaver show lacks a plot. The Poe readings were very cool.
I miss the Poe readings as well; intimate venue & unique experience. I suppose though that the average amusement park guest is far more satisfied with samplings of pop songs amplified 10x above what is necessary.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
^^ I meant I hadn't seen the Poe readings. I think the last show I watched was the ice skating show three years ago. (Not counting Luminosity)
Let's Get Weird.
The Poe readings were also nice because they were one of the last bits of the original HalloWeekends to remain after the event became the considerably larger happening it is now. Those early HalloWeekends on the Frontier Trail were some of the most pleasant evenings I've had at the park.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
I know I'd love to see the Poe readings make a comeback. The guy who did them was absolutely fantastic.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I don't buy this crap for one second that they need the extra time for rehab.Based on your extensive experience in the wood coaster maintenance field, no doubt.
And based on your extensive knowledge of me personally, my background, and what skills or trades I possess, you wouldn't dare challenge me, no doubt.
Well it's good to see you've remained consistent with your wit and cleverness dj old buddy.
All joking aside though, and as you might have guessed, I have no experience in the wooden coaster maintenance field. Surprise ! But what I do have, and without trying to be "pointlessly cryptic" or "self aggrandizing" about any of this, is some common sense. And that very common sense tells me that whatever it is that they are going to do to the ride can wait til Halloweekends is over.
If your gates are open for business, then ALL of your attractions should be open as well.
There are over 60 attractions in the park. One of them being down still means that over 98% of them are running.
In addition, it says right on the CP website - and I'm sure at the gates as well - that all rides are subject to downtime.
I totally get that rides are going to be down once in a while due to mechanical reasons or whatever and that's fine, there are plenty of others to make up for it - but to close one (a coaster none the less) on purpose before the season is even over and then try to justify it by saying they need the extra time to rehab it, is ridiculous ! All that's basically telling me is that either CP doesn't have enough people working on the ride in the off season (and yeah yeah I know all about the 6 full time carpenters) or they're just flat out being too lazy on getting it done.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !

They never needed it before. What makes the last couple of years any different.Well, before they did the extended off-season maintenance, the reviews on the ride were not good.
Since the maintenance has been done, reviews seem to be quite a bit better.
So, it would seem that the ride does need this kind of extended maintenance, maybe not every year, at least every couple years to keep it rideable. Just because Cedar Point didn't do it before the last two years doesn't mean the ride didn't need it.
The ride has really NEVER gotten good reviews Juggs, extended maintenance or not. In fact, the only time anyone seems to have anything positive to say about it at all, is usually right after the new season begins. Then of course, shortly there after, it always goes right back to its rough, boring unrideable self ....
And it took them almost 20 years to figure out that they needed an extra month to work on it ???? Come on. I'll bet you 1 new shiny Gate Keeper that if you were to pitch a tent in MS's infield and then monitor it 24/7 during Halloweekends, you won't see a single bolt turned or a nail pounded.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !

Then by all means, send your resume to CP on the double! I've heard through the grapevine that the only thing standing in their way of ensuring all their rides need no maintenance is a dash of common sense.
Brandon
Thanks for the tip. I guess I just somehow missed the part of the grapevine where it stated that rides need "no" maintenance.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
Actually Super Stew, I believe the intention was to get a good head start on the retracking before winter set in. Though last winter was really mild so they were probably able to work on it more during the winter months than they thought they would.
