I'm kidding. In all seriousness, yes, that's very dangerous.
That picture is real, however, but it was taken at Six Flags New Orleans, an abandoned park. Recently they were shooting a movie there, and because I knew some of the staff I was allowed to come in (legally) and explore while they were on break.
If anyone's curious, you can see some of the pictures I took here > Click.
I know this thread is about Halloweekends, but might I say that wandering around that park was much more creepy than any haunts I've been through. I can see why they wanted to film there, the atmosphere is pretty powerful.
I wouldn't imagine they'd close it, considering we now know the haunt is indoor and therefore shouldn't affect the ride (fog in the station wise).
There's got to be some other entrances into MR's infield, so I'd imagine they'd use that as opposed to "replacing" the ride's normal entrance, causing it to shut down.
Isn't there some sort of gate with a path behind it right by MS's entrance? Maybe they'll open that up and have the Haunt entrance be somewhere down there?
I sure hope they're not closing Mean Streak AGAIN for Halloweekends. I don't buy this crap for one second that they need the extra time for rehab. They never needed it before. What makes the last couple of years any different. 6 months of prepping should be way more than enough to get it ready for the new season. Besides that, they need to think about the people that may only get out to CP that particular time of the year - and that that may be their only chance to ride it. If your gates are open for business, then ALL of your attractions should be open as well.

Based on your extensive experience in the wood coaster maintenance field, no doubt.

There are over 60 attractions in the park. One of them being down still means that over 98% of them are running.
In addition, it says right on the CP website - and I'm sure at the gates as well - that all rides are subject to downtime.

I could have sworn I saw somewhere that last year was the last year of the extensive re-tracking project they were doing. If that is indeed the case, I suspect they'll keep MS open until the end of the year.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Hey everyone, I took a picture of the sign that is now on the Luminosity control booth for the new show that starts during Halloweekends.

Sounds quite exciting, I should have grabbed a couple of pictures for the tear-down of the stage, but it totally slipped my mind for some reason.

I'll probably be going in a bit later, I'll try to remember to grab some pictures of the stage area. It's nothing too exciting right now, as everything is laid out on the stage.
If I'm a guessing man, I would imagine that we'll see a new setup for the stage considering the amount of tear-down they're going through.

Well, before they did the extended off-season maintenance, the reviews on the ride were not good.
Since the maintenance has been done, reviews seem to be quite a bit better.
So, it would seem that the ride does need this kind of extended maintenance, maybe not every year, at least every couple years to keep it rideable. Just because Cedar Point didn't do it before the last two years doesn't mean the ride didn't need it.
