Queen of American Watering Places has a short description of what it was like inside, but there's not much in the way of fine details. I believe it mentions most of the scenes were quite grisly and often depicted infamous murders and various torture techniques.

Maybe I misinterpreted you, DJ. I thought you were saying that censoring was dangerous and a harm to society in general? I found that kind of disturbing and was pointing out some extreme examples where a line simply has to be drawn, whether or not some people don't agree. But, I guess you were saying that haunted house violence and sexual acts should not be censored (in the case of Blackout NYC), but other things should be? I'm not sure. But, if you are saying certain things should be censored, then I'm glad we're on the same page! :)
"Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body. It can be done by governments and private organizations or by individuals who engage in self-censorship. It occurs in a variety of different contexts including speech, books, music, films and other arts, the press, radio, television, and the Internet for a variety of reasons including national security, to control obscenity, child pornography, and hate speech, to protect children, to promote or restrict political or religious views, to prevent slander and libel, and to protect intellectual property. It may or may not be legal."

I suppose with the exception of child pornography, I do not feel anything should be censored - not even depictions of actual murder, abuse, etc.. And in fact, that's how the internet (in most countries, anyway) handles it, and it's been working out just fine, I'd say.
I'm not sure what the point of that quote was. I understand what censorship is, I just don't agree with the practice. :)

I had found some pictures of a murder scene inside the original eden musee. really creepy stuff. i hope they put in some really wax figures in the house.

Has anyone been able to find the possible entrance for "Cut Throat Cove?" I've been looking inside the Maverick infield. I see a black path but it it just cut off and doesn't lead anywhere.
This is from the old eden musee at coney island. island.http://www.murderpedia.org/male.G/images/gray_henry_judd/display.jpg
kinda creepy.
DJ: My point to the definition quote was that illegal activities are probably censored most of all. And if you think about it, isn't making something illegal to be viewed censorship at its highest level? A governmental body is determining that something is obscene, harmful, or not morally right for people to see (even if these people feel otherwise).
So, to put this back into relation with haunted houses, I was saying that there should be a point where a governmental body deems a level of violence, abuse, torture, etc. as harmful for people to see or experience (whether or not these people agree). You disagree, and we'll leave it at that. :)
On that note, it's interesting to see such different interpretations of what's acceptable in an amusement park haunted house between the 2 sister parks, Cedar Point and Kings Island. KI's haunts tend to be much more gory and adult-oriented (in the case of their Club Blood), while CP's were always more family-friendly and jumpy. With CP, I wonder if Kinzel was quite the censor himself? ;) Think things will be taken up a notch this year now that his watchful eye is gone?

Nope. Maybe by Maverick's exit near Chick-fil-a?
Is the new terror island, or cut throat cove, going to be going under maverick's low zones? My friend worked rides and told me that there was no way they would allow any event or un authorized person to walk under one when a ride is in operation. If not, then where is exactly maverick's infield?
yes i know the old location under millennium was under low zones, but MF's were alot higher above ground and mav's are lower.
Every low zone has a fence around it, if my memory serves me correctly.
When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835
Yes, The area I think he is referring to is not technically a low zone. A low zone is any part of the ride that comes within a certain distance to the ground. Throwing out there a number of 10 feet but it could be more or less not sure if there is a set number.
Any low zone is fenced off and is not accessible while the ride is in operation. Though there are other area's of the ride that are more than high enough that you can walk under, there is also plenty of space between the track which is where Cut Throat Cove will be located.

A lot of Maverick employees seem to be confused as to what their lowzone areas are. I have been stopped by them numerous times while out in the Maverick ride area (not within a lowzone) and told by a ride host I can't be there. To which I correct them and explain what is and isn't a lowzone and that usually works, other times they still don't understand.
It's going to be neat riding Maverick while the Haunt is open. Due to its ground-hugging nature, I'm sure it's safe to assume that a majority of the ride will be under the fog line (when it's not windy, of course).
^I'm really excited about that. But I'm gonna miss riding MF at night during halloweekends. That ride was awesome with all the fog when you went over the island. But like you said Maverick should be fun since it's even lower to the ground. I can't wait!

How are you ever down in the Maverick infield during the season?? Or do you work there?
It's called jumping the fence, gawd.
All the cool kids are doing it. How else would I have gotten such a nice FB profile photo like that?
