GOOD housing for partying..crazy people

Non safety related...?

Try food services, merchandising, janitorial, accounting, live E, administrative, public relations, maid service, hotel clerk, camp ground attendant, games workers, and landscapers... I am sure that there are more...

Every single job you just named has to be extra cautious when it comes to safety or alertness.

Ride on, MrScott!

Where is the heavy machinery (besides a slicer) in food services? And more importantly are food services employees using heavy machinery with customers? No...

Ride and ride related employees are a different kettle of fish. They should be monitored closely for illegal drug use.

I understand that since there may be legal issues involved with testing one group of employees and not another, FUN has to test all of them. I also understand that testing is a huge deterrent to illegal drug use.

FUN cannot condone in any way abuse of illegal drugs in and around the property be it customers or employees. Illegal drug use attracts the wrong kind of employees. Since FUN is a private entity with a P&L to protect, strung out employees open them up to bad customer relations and possible safety issues (with all of the attending liability). FUN has the right and the obligation to promote a drug free work environment. A drug free work environment is safe and productive.

This being said a hungover janitor is not going to be a safety issue. There may be a productivity issue however.

Employees know full well that they will be tested for abuse and will be expected to act in a manner befitting of the Cedar Point name if they are consuming alcoholic beverages in or around the property.

The late 70's early 80's were a different era with a vastly different legal/social environment.

Being 18 was a long time ago for me, but a typical day was about 10-12 hours of work and 4-6 hours of hanging out/dating/activities. I worked the marina in the summer and in a factory the rest of the year - excellent reviews with zero accidents. I miss having that much energy!

Insurance and liability concerns have greatly changed the way things are done now. Every corporation lives by CYA. How much longer before helmets are mandatory for auto drivers and passengers? Outlawing fattening french fries? Not letting people with even a moderate gut ride rollercoaters because they keep shrinking the already safe seatbelts (oh wait, that would never happen!)

<rant concluded> Anyway, have a great summer Jenny! It's a ton of work but you should enjoy it like many of us have.

Just say no to trims

Try food services (they work with fryers, stoves, knives, potential food borne illness), merchandising (lifting, forklifts, climbing), janitorial (isn't it rather obvious? chemicals, wet floors, tripping hazards from extension cords), accounting (there is a little safety involved in transporting hundreds of thousands of dollars...i mean, there is a reason they work behind bullet proof glass in cash control), live E (proper stretching for dancers, working in dark environments behind stage, safe walking for costumed characters), administrative (all have safety as part of their orientation including lifting, working with sharps, etc), public relations (these people sort of need to know how to handle and emergency situation...since they covey that information to the public and the press), maid service (again, chemicals, working around bioharzards, etc), hotel clerk (dealing with potential holdups, crime, safety deposit boxes, etc), camp ground attendant (see maid service), games workers (see merchandise), and landscapers (mowers, trimmers, chemicals, etc)... I am sure that there are more...

I'm not trying to be a smart a--...but if you think your job doesn't have anything to do with safety when you are working at Cedar Point...I'd prefer you find a job elsewhere.

Great point, Chief. I really hope I dont get a paper cut from counting those crisp dollar bills.

Back to the original point of this thread. Jenny....drink 'em if ya got 'em, just don't get caught.

I would also like to mention to anyone that I may meet this Friday that I am on an extremely tight budget until I get the first paycheck. That being said, please do not ask me to go out and drink. As much as I would like to I'm not even sure if I can keep myself in food for the next three weeks.

why are you busting this girl, she wants to have a good time, She did mention she was 18 give her a break.

Being 18 does not mean anything. Most 18 year olds are extremely immature. I'm 18 myself, and I can still say this.

yeah but she didnt say she was going to go sleep with a bunch of people, cause a ruckus, like most people going for the first time she wanted to find people to hang-out with. She wants to have a fun summer. how about we get this back on topic threadjackers im sure this is not why she posted this so people could bust on her wanting to have a good time.

Then don't publicly state that you're looking for housing for partying and crazy people. When you do that, you open yourself up for comments from everyone.

And as far as jacking the thread, I think its stayed fairly on topic. She's looking to "stay up all nite and do crazy sht" and then asked for suggestions. People then suggested she not do that or she won't be a Cedar Fair employee for very long. So yeah, I think its been on topic.

Goodbye MrScott

John

Hmmm...to all you negative downbeat employees..I was asking a simple question. If you know nothing about partying and having fun..you could of refrained. But I appreciate your kind thoughts<3
I still cant wait to be a cp employee! .

And there we have it folks....

That post sums up the entire 3 pages of this thread and kids today.

You can talk until you're blue in the face, but it will do no good.

Pink Floyd best summed it up I believe, See You On the Other Side.

EDIT: I are teh lame.

Ride on, MrScott!

If you stay up "all nite" too many times, you will end up quitting the point.

Live-E mentioned something about "balance"....

Loopy, I believe you're thinking of "see you on the dark side of the moon." Ozzy said "see you on the other side." Either one would apply in this case. :)

I would normally say something like, geez it took someone long enough, but yeah that was a total screw up by me.

Good call. :)

yo your from pittsburgh me too what part

Listen it's like this. Sure you're gonna be working all the time. But you usually get one day off a week and during the summer season when we're fully staffed, you really work OC's so you have time to chill out and have fun during the day or night as well.

Plenty of people go out and drink and have fun. I know a lot of people who rode on their days off or went to Soak City or stayed out on the beach. Plus if you have a good crew, you usually go out at least once a week together.

Jenny don't let some of these guys give you a buzz-kill. You'll have ample time to have fun and hell, you'll even enjoy yourself at work on most days. The big thing to remember if you do decided to drink is watch out for the CP Police. It's pretty well known that some of them are scumbags who look for any excuse to pull your tag and get you into trouble. Just remember to have fun. That's what's important about this job. Have fun, stay lose, and enjoy yourself. As long as you use common sense you are set for the summer.

Hope to see ya there.

The day Kingda Ka closes will be the greatest day in the history of Existence

I am 22 and I support drinking and even a little too many more things, but do remember that if your trashed at 3 A.M, and you have to wake up to work at 8 A.M you most likely will still be under the influence which is a serious problem when your working for CP.

But party on and don't forget to share the party location heh.
