We will have video soon.
We know you're excited to see it. And I'm just as excited to put something together for you. And in high quality. And that takes time.
This is "geek Tony" speaking: I'm still in awe watching it run. It was definitely meant to be at Cedar Point and destined to be in that location. I assure you, you will love it. And if you don't, I'll buy you a corn dog.*
*Corn dog offer only valid on select Mondays from 8:48 a.m. till 8:59 a.m.

How loud was it? I'm slightly disappointed that it's filled with sand to mitigate the classic B&M roar (which is one of the main sounds I think of when I think of amusement parks), but I can always walk by Raptor when I wanna hear it lol
Tony, change your offer to some fried cheese or fries and I'll tell you I don't like it just for the free food ;)
Or Tony could give you some more free chips from Chippery. Only this time, 6 at once. It'd be the perfect "treat" for fakely hating GateKeeper. ;)
Well yes, looking forward to seeing the video, but I'm actually "Jonesin" to get the webcams back.
Chris
We probably won't have webcams til next week. If I ad to guess, I would be relocating them right now because there is no point in taking them offline twice.
We're not relocating them just yet. Soon, though.
We do take them down for various reasons, but unfortunately, it's a big conspiracy that I can't share with you. ;)

Am I right that they changed their mind and decided not to fill the supports with sand?
While we are talking about cameras Tony, you mentioned in the blog that there is going to be a video webcam for gatekeeper, do you have any additional info on that that you can share yet? Such as location or quality?

It will probably be the same thing as last year. They had one streaming webcam. As far as quality, it was a low bitrate 720p video. Being that the camera was still, it was good enough quality.
August Lococo stated.
“The trains ran [Thursday] for the first time, and they ran really well. We’ll be running them eight hours a day, seven days a week for the next four weeks,” Mr. Lococo added. “From a safety standpoint, we want to check all the safety devices, and we’ll be on the lookout for 600 faults that could happen and try to simulate them on our tests.”
Will this mean we will not have webcams until after the 4 weeks?
He also said.
Cedar Point has fitted a train with a “rider envelope” and sent it down the track. The device measures the distance cars are from objects on the ride that could present rider hazards. The maximum height of a rider on the GateKeeper will be limited to 6-foot-6,
I would love to see how the "rider envelope" looked on Gatekeeper.

I watched TTD run the first few trains until one finally made it over the hill into the brake run. That was a much bigger risk of a ride because it was fairly new tech. I'm pretty sure B&m and CP have 100% confidence that the ride can complete circuits without incident or else they would not even start running it. I'm pretty sure the blackout of the cams is for some of the finishing touches they will be putting on the ride that they don't want people to see until they are ready to open.
I'll give you an update: They ran the ride all day. Nothing else happened.
Repeat that status for the next four weeks. Glad I could help!

^^^ Forget daily updates, why not hourly or every 20 minutes? Why not install webcams on the test dummies with live streaming rotating from every single seat position so they can broadcast every last inch of the ride before it opens to the public?

This once or twice a week stuff is for the birds. I wish we had daily Gatekeeper updates to keep us going...
Really? With all the photos, and not to mention 3 webcams that were rolling for months, this is the most coverage I've ever seen on a new roller coaster at CP. The park doesn't have to do all this, could've just announced the coaster like they did last summer and make you wait to see and ride it on opening day.
