Drove out on to the "Point" Friday after work with my son. We watched "Gatekeeper" going through its paces for about an hour. Just my observation. It looks great against a bright blue sky. It has a wonderful new sound to it. Nothing like Raptor, but a good solid roller coaster sound. I had my stop watch on it, about 26 seconds to climb the lift hill. 1:46 out and back. I did think, however, that it did not look all that fast. The train speed just did not seem to be there. It kind of limped into the station several times. Just being early test runs I am sure they were not letting it lose yet. The front gate is going to be spectacular. I just hope they get rid of the Dinosaur.

And you didnt take a video?!? Shame on you lol.

From my experience (5 years of running rides), there are 2 types of wheels on B&Ms, nylon and polyurethane. Nylon are the "fast" wheels and polyurethane are the "slow" wheels. They can mix the wheels as well. I know when X Flight started testing last year, they had polyurethane on cars 1, 2, 7, and 8, with nylon on the four middle cars. Then during the season, it was all polyurethane. During October, when it cooled down again, they went back to half and half.

I am actually surprised I haven't seen testing of Gatekeeper from some fans. I know employees can't take pictures or videos of the ride. I really hope the testing video gets released today.

Yeah this is getting old waiting...just release the video already.
All this coverage of the construction and once it actually runs theres nothing?
Weird.

Agreed, I know that we aren't entitled to see test footage, but Tony said that a high quality video takes a while to produce, when it really doesn't.

I'm predicting a new OnPoint post later today or tomorrow with footage of the ride. At least I hope so.

I can see the new Absolutely Reliable shirt now. Goes along nicely with the original. :)

Maybe not if you are simply uploading raw video to Youtube, but if you are actually going to do proper editing and rendering of a video it can take hours for just a few minutes of video.

We aren't here to torture you (is it really that bad?). I believe in high quality presentation, which is why you won't see a crummy cell phone video of GateKeeper from me. Ever.

There's a reason why the cams are off. There's also a reason why you won't see a full POV of the ride. There's a reason you don't see a clip of it testing from us yet, too. But unfortunately, I can't explain why at the moment.

It's nothing Earth-shattering, but it's not unimportant either. In fact, it's pretty cool for Cedar Point.

So, be patient, young Ride Warrior - you will get a PointCast and in it, you'll get video of the ride running. Soon!

Remember when you had to go to the library to use the Internetz?? That was AWFUL! ;)

Im glad were waiting. (not to sound like im sucking up or kissing A$$). I much appreciate quality and cant wait to see what the park releases. If its taking this long then it must be really cool to see and worth waiting for.

OH THE HORRROR!!!!!!! THE TORTURE, THE TORTURE!!!!!

It's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be, but everyone, including me, I believe is VERY eager to see the ride in action. Just something that gets us closer to opening day, let alone warm weather, will be very pleasing to us.

However with you posting here, it does tend to satisfy our hunger... for only short period ;)

Tony, are you ever going to explain the "It's nothing Earth-shattering, but it's not unimportant either. In fact, it's pretty cool for Cedar Point."?

hi everybody. I know you guys are very anxious to see that video & for the webcams to be back on. I don't blame you at all for missing thost webcams. But the park owns them. They have a right to do what they need to do with those webcams. they are into the importanant phase of the Gatekeeper testing. If anything bad should happen that way it will not be shown to the public. Also they have a propertiy process for testing the rollercoaster just like at an auto plant. I know what I am saying about the auto industries may not agree with you. In any auto plants we are not allowed to take any kind of pictures or videos at work without pior permission because erach automaker has their own production process. Same way with Cedar Point & all of Cedar Fair's parks. They need to protect themselves from their competetiors. So that they will continue to provide world class quality thrill rides. Relax the video will be available tomorrow. Tony tweeted me today that the video should be ready tomorrow. Only four & half weeks to go. it won't be long noiw. Please be patient it will be on soon.

He says he isn't here to torture us....

while at the same time torturing us.

Something tells me he missed this.

It may seems that he is torturing everybody. I do miss those webcams alots for watching the gatekeeper constuction progress. But Tony has a boss that he has to answer to. When his boss tell him that he has to shut those webcams off he has to comply to the order. Tony is not trying to be mean it just that he has to follow his bosse's order.
