Yeah I did find that strange as well, but I am glad that the coaster will just be getting faster. There were definitely a few points in the ride where it looked like it was struggling to make it over the hill with some speed. I want a good airtime moment on that second hill!

Another thing I noticed in the animations is the trains go flying through the keyholes quite fast but in the video they kind of drag slower because of the soft wheels. Any estimates on how fast you think the trains are running in the pointcast?

I'd guesstamate that they are going about 35 mph.
I'll be Coasting for Kids on June 9th

I don't think it's that slow. That would nearly be half the speed the ride is supposed to operate at.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
I would say realistically, about 60. Also, the animations are always fast - You should see X-Flight's
Sit upright, hold on tight, and enjoy your ride!
She's gorgeous...nice video! So Tony, were you planning on coming back just in time for Gatekeeper all along? ;) Glad you're back.

I can't wait until the webcam page is back... I loved the PointCast that Tony made the other day.
If I'm not at Cedar Point, I'm blogging about it!
We don't speak of the webcams...

Keep in mind the keyholes are at a high elevation. The maximum speed of the coaster will take place at the lowest elevation, and usually at the bottom of the first drop.

I'd want the keyhole pass to be at a slower speed. At 60 it would be over before you had a chance to realize the pretend danger.
the webcams will be back on soon but don't expect to see any of them pointing at gate keeper or the front entrance until the park is open. I for one am not excited about this coaster, it looks great but if it rides like wild eagle it will just be an OK ride at best and Raptor will still be the best coaster in the park!

Wow! I thought this was to be a happy forum regarding the newly constructed and magnificent piece of engineering at the front of the park? Great choice CP!

This, and This.
... just to get things back on track a bit. ;)
The top of the keyhole maneuver will probably be one of the moments where the train noticeably starts losing speed. It will be made up for with the visual element of the keyholes, though.
I haven't been on a wing coaster yet, but I imagine the thing has to feel a lot faster than it looks.

ElLoco chose his name wonderfully.
Wild Eagle was simply wonderful, and yes, it certainly felt faster than what it appeared from the ground.
Cedar Point chose wisely. Wild Eagle was a breath of fresh air, and a very unique ride. Not only is this going to be visually stunning at the main gate, it will be a home run with the guests without a doubt.
Promoter of fog.
What he said. To add to that, I found X Flight to be just as enjoyable as Wild Eagle. Neither is a "HOLY CORN NUGGETS! THIS RIDE WILL BLOW YOU MIND" kind of coaster, but it's just what the park deserves. Gatekeeper is already a home run in my books.

The layout to Gatekeeper is more impressive than what Wild Eagle and X-Flight, mainly because it is longer. The other two looked like it was almost long enough, but just short. I have high expectations for Gatekeeper and am really hoping it lives up to them.
