Walt, I agree. The park should have some "nod to the history" of an attraction that stood for 47 years. Perhaps they could paint a red, yellow and black stripe on that central shade mast as a small tribute.

I believe they will renovate more buildings in the coming years. Which ones really need one? After the A frame buildings up front (behind Hurricane Hannahs and the main gate bathrooms, the first one that comes to my mind is the entire Disaster Transport refreshments building. You know the one that says FUDGE on the outside? I know they're going to rename it Gatekeeper Refreshements but the entire structure needs modern looking paint and updated. It just screams 70's and looks the same as it did when I was little, yuck.
They are re-doing it,
I know what they are doing, and if I was told correctly youll be impressed what it will be and how the structure will be for the 2013 season

They do during Halloweekends.
:)
If they did this all over the park, there would be markers and posts everywhere, and nerd-guments over which ones deserve a plaque and which ones do not.
Where is the Pirate Ride's "post"?
The museum would also be a nice place for some type of artifact.
Promoter of fog.
In this instance, I define subtle as "you might not know it was there, unless you know to look." Again, Mr. Toad is a perfect example. Unless you're a Disney geek, you wouldn't even know to look for it. I think this or this would be overkill.
Besides, in historical context, Space Spiral and Pirate Ride are like Jupiter and the space dust that orbits Pluto. :)
So you mean like how USGS survey markers, or "benchmarks" are everywhere and people never seem to notice them?

The new front gate is not only going to look amazing, but be amazingly efficient! I mean automated ticket machines?! Come on
Love the blog but not a fan of the middle range resolution pictures. Is there a direct link to the blog images that are a bit higher resolution?
We're limited by the photo size we can post. I'm viewing on a retina display and it's pretty crisp.
It's a trade-off so we can get info out there.

I understand, thank you.
Its just the geek in me that wants to right click, save and stare at them all on full screen.
Now, if we show a blog photo that everyone's like, "YOU SHOULD MAKE A WALLPAPER OUT OF THAT!!!81$*$!)," I'd be happy to provide a big version. ;)
So let me know if that happens. We plan on taking some great photos this year.

Hey Tony, that second to last picture, when the plaza is totally done, take it again and THAT WOULD MAKE AN AWESOME DESKTOP! Especially if a Gatekeeper train was in the shot!

Does anyone know if the new season pass center is open yet? It said on Cedarpoint.com that it was scheduled to open on the first of May pending on construction. Did anyone go yesterday to see if it was open or are there some finishing touches that still need to be added? I know processing is at Castaway Bay if the pass center isn't open but I really want to get up close to the front gate!
Sorry to post right under my previous post but it appears that the blue obelisk Cedar Point sign at the front has been installed!
^ Thanks for the update nycfann22. By the way, since everyone was ignoring what I said last night, I happened to find a picture of the new sign on Facebook this morning. You can see it here.
