Will the very nearness of Wicked Twister's front spike to the plaza require netting on the spike to catch falling cell phones? Or is the spike far enough away that the trajectory of loose items won't make it to the plaza?
I was wondering that as well. It's hard to say, but it seems that in order to get a decent amount of horizontal travel, the offending object would need to be released at a time when the horizontally forward momentum is great. When that condition is met, the train is pretty low to the ground, meaning said offending object would not travel very far before hitting the ground. And in fact, the fence surrounding the ride might be tall enough to account for this scenario.

Also, Wicked Twister has the slanted metal roofs at the bottom of each tower to possibly catch/prevent that from happening. Whenever I had to do beach walks, I never found any loose articles from guests on the beach up by the front tower where Gatekeeper's plaza's beach sitting area will be, or on the beach by the back tower to the left of where the queue goes under the metal slanted roof. But that doesn't mean that it's never happened.
I doubt much stuff comes loose on Wicked Twister. It's not a ride that throws riders around too much except perhaps the initial launch. And I'll take this opportunity to say that I think Wicked Twister is a very underrated ride.
It throws riders around enough for us to find some very random items in the low zones, but you are right. And yes, it is VERY underrated, and I hope it gets the attention it deserves this season with Gatekeeper being it's neighbor. I just hope they do something with the queues after they removed all of the second set and messed them up in 2011.
I wouldn't say Wicked Twister is underrated... It's just not very well known. It's not on the main midway and has a small layout. It's a very "hidden" ride. But as you guys are saying, with GateKeeper opening, it's more than likely going to be busier this year.

I think the 3rd tallest roller coaster in the park isn't necessarily hidden since it stands at 215 feet, but with the minds of some guests, who knows
Yes, it's tall, but it doesn't have a huge structure like Magnum or Millennium Force has. It has two vertical spikes and no huge support structure around it. It's easily hidden, even behind a building, where as with Millennium Force, you can see it from pretty much anywhere in the whole park because it's a massive ride. Does that make sense?
All I know is, I'll miss Wicked Twister always being a walk-on. Haha.

^What you said about missing WT being a walk on, that's so true. I'm not looking forward to having to suddenly wait in long lines for it, which I'm predicting will happen once this area gets more crowded due to GateKeeper, as well as allowing easy acces to all the rides in this corner of the park.

The good news is the back corner of the park will not be as busy anymore :). All the buzz will be at the front.

I see what you're saying now. I think I read your first post wrong.
I thought Windseeker was going to bring more riders to WT too, but it really didn't from what I experienced.

It still drew more attention to that area.

I heard on CP rundown that Windseeker will be ready by Opening Day. Not sure if Cedar Point themselves have announced anything like that yet, but I trust this source. Anyway though, having Wicked Twister, Windseeker, and now Gatekeeper will draw big crowds to the area.
