Front Gate Destruction/Construction

Anybody know if the second entrance where they scanned your tickets has been demolished yet? It's hard to tell from a far away distance.

^ Not Yet.

I am 100% sure, that like Disney, they have a tree farm off-site somewhere.

Sorry to burst your 100% bubble. But, no CP does not have a tree farm off-site like Disney. CP buys plants from local greenhouses every year. And think about it, if they did have a tree farm wouldn't you think they would plant bigger trees than the saplings they plant after doing construction? I mean we buy the same size ones at home depot.

I think that's more because there's only a certain size trees can get before the root system gets too big to transplant successfully.

Not true, PGA golf courses move 50 plus year old trees all the time. It just costs big bucks.

Maybe a different type of tree will go in the old spots? I don't know.

Trees are selected for the location they are placed. How tall and wide they will grow to dictates where there can/will be placed. Maybe the trees that were in that location might have interfered with the new construction. I would imagine they will replace them with site appropriate choices.

The whole front entrance is being redone and track is being put into place over the entrance. Those trees could not have stayed without being in the way of the work that was being done. They are just trees.

TREE MURDERERS!.... :)

Yes, they maybe are just trees. But, it amazes me how other parks try to keep their trees, while CP can't wait to fire up the chainsaw and clear cut the area.

Honestly, I don't care if they cut every tree down on the peninsula. I came to terms years ago with the fact that the park I loved and grew up with died in the late 90's. Not, that I don't have fun at the park now for what it is.

Do you really think they take joy in cutting down their trees? What are they, the Once-ler?

And despite what you read or hear, if plans call for a ride to be built in an area containing trees, there will be a number of trees that will come down. Parks like Holiday World and Dollywood like to boast about keeping as many trees as possible because their parks are known for their charm. Thus they evaluate what they don't have to take down while allowing for the ride to still be built.

The reality is that CP is not really known for its charm (sad I know). And despite having planted new trees in the case of Maverick, STR and Windseeker, it seems to not get noticed. Even when they're forced to cut down trees due to disease, there's always a few that take it personally.

You're going to have to accept that as Cedar Point changes, so will its landscape. But be glad that they at least try to make up for it with newly planted trees. They may be nothing now, but give them a few decades. It's all part of the bigger picture after all. Heck, be happy that there's still trees at all.

Don't mean to take this off topic but since we're on the topic of trees, has anyone seen the Outlaw Run POV? It's going to interact with the trees more than any ride I've seen before. The video isn't exaggerated either, if you look at construction pics, there is that many trees,

I highly doubt it is going to really be how it is in the virtual POV.

Adam, like I said I really don't care if they cut them all down, lack of trees does not deter from my enjoyment of what the point has become.

Can we just shut up about the trees they'll be replaced!

Seriously, it's not like the front gate area was as forested as Frontier Town.

Hey I only brought it up once. I'm over it now, but when I saw the rendering, I didn't think those trees would be in the way. As Adam said if you want to visit a park for it's landscape, you have to go to a park like Dollywood or Holiday World. Great Point by the way. :)

Well, the only reason I had that response was due to the fact that you seemed to contradict yourself and ignore certain points that have been made both from the park and from others. I mean how can you honestly suggest that they "can't wait to fire up the chainsaw and clear cut the area." ? That's a pretty bold statement imho.

So, like I say, be glad there's still tress AND that they make an effort to replant new ones after a construction project. I mean cut them a little slack. Just because the trees that were once there during your childhood are gone, doesn't mean your childhood is ruined. :)

Oh God, trees people? The quality of this thread just went downhill, quick.
