Extended Closure

So, is it safe to say that Beech$@!ff Studios will not be able to ask pressing questions of Grumpy Tony?

It's called a non disclosure agreement

IAAPA doesn't have NDA's. The whole point of their education program is to share information. They're not going to be sharing "secrets." They will share boring things about IT systems and food distribution and labor difficulties.

I do think the radio silence speaks volumes. And I think the most plausible speculation I've seen is that that the anticipated fix failed and we aren't "inching closer to an announcement" anymore.

I dunno. If you're a gamer, you remember the debacle that was No Man's Sky. There were so many promises and so much hype leading up to the release and the release was...unreal. The game was nothing like it was promised. The smartest thing the development team did was stop making promises and go radio silent for a long while. Now, the game is great and they've recaptured a lot of their fanbase.

Enthusiasts are a loud minority and I don't think updates really serve anyone but us. The general public aren't keeping track of what's going on with the ride. And if Cedar Point is even a minute later than expected, enthusiasts will be up in arms about it. I think not committing to anything is likely the wises idea until they know the ride will be up without issue.

Not familiar with the gaming reference, but I agree that radio silence would be the prudent response if they still dont have a solid idea of when the ride will reopen, especially after seemingly unintentionally overpromising when Tony made the comment about inching toward an announcement and not a summer long closure.

Which makes me think that when Tony said that, they had a fix that they expected would test ok, but that the testing of the solution unexpectedly failed as per the rumor, and now they really aren't seeing a light at the end of tunnel.

And I also think it is interesting that nothing seems to have leaked out anywhere for a good while. Usually something leaks somewhere that later proves to be accurate.

What a mess.

Now I am waiting to hear a twangy banjo rendition of this while on Frontier Trail.

^Replace STR II with a Deliverance-themed river rapids ride. Perfect!

Or, during their onsite testing, they collected enough data to allow them to more fully validate a solution in their lab before bringing it back for a final onsite validation.

Or, as speculated by Ryan the Ride Mechanic, one of the issues they faced was premature wheel wear, in which case cure time would prevent them from onsite validation.

If they were still a long ways off from a viable solution, I would imagine there would be more onsite testing as they try to find one.

Brandon

Could be any of the above

Or, the planned fix failed in the prior testing, sending them back to the drawing board for a complete redesign as opposed to a comparably simple retrofit, and they aren't anywhere near testing and reopening.

If the fix was known and the delay is something well known like simply waiting for wheels to cure I would think a timeframe would have been out. Or at least some more communication. Only time will tell but to me the most plausible explanation is that the testing did not produce the desired results and it was back to the drawing board.

Or Maverick.

Maybe they could try using the Gemini or Mine Ride trains?

CoasterHawk, not trying to be mean or rain on your parade, but I hope you are kidding. It’s a great idea, nonetheless, but given the nature of the rides that those trains are manufactured for it probably would not work. But again great idea.

Jake, certainly you've been around long enough to pick up on the jokes.
