Extended Closure

Jeff, sorry about that. I am just a little frustrated that we have a brand new ride that is not open. I know everybody else is and I completely understand safety, but I have been hoping to ride it more than just season pass preview if that makes sense.

I have been hoping to ride it more than the zero times I have gotten to ride it. I get the frustration, but from most peoples' perspective...

^ I dunno… At the STR commercial shoot, we were like 2 peas in a pod. Sonny and Cher, Laura and Urkel, herpes and Chlamydia. We were inseparable.

But on here, he sure has razzed me a bit.

But again great idea.

So this wasn't a joke?

^^ Only because the bond forged by sharing such a magical experience such as the STR commercial shoot can never be broken.

I myself am not confident it returns in 2024. The scarcity of updates is a clear indication something more serious is wrong.

Or it's a clear indication that there have been no updates.

Yes - there's a chance it's down for the season. But there's also a chance it reopens for the second half. The halfway point of the 2024 season is still 2-3 weeks away. Heck, if they get that thing ready to go (pun intended) at 4pm on Closing Day at the end October, I have no doubt they'll open it.

If it's not ready before Halloweekends, I think it might be best to hold it to next season.

Halloweekends are filled with their own promotion.

It’s open!

Just wanted to be there first to announce it. Might be too early.

Ummm...

Am I missing a joke going over my head?

Or is it just a bad joke? Because I'm taking family there soon on a Breakers trip and this would be great news.

Edit: ok I think it is a joke based on the sentence ‘It might be too early’. How disappointing.

As expected, we can at least now expect to not expect any expected updates from the IAAPA event.

Scrolling through that wkyc article, I came to the section addressing "free lockers". Well, it seems as though this extended closure provided ample time to install an appropriate workable process for this to be put in place. I realize the closure time-frame was/is a bit ambiguous, and providing free lockers is likely the least of their priorities in addressing the rides' issue. In fact, it's likely not even on their "things to do" list as they have a bank of "pay" lockers available. Hopefully they can get something in place over the off season, and get the ride functioning appropriately as well.

Usually my son and I are there together and I have my keys, phone, & cap to secure. No non-rider to leave them with and I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay for a locker.

^Hindsight is 20/20 and I would like to think that the park will eventually figure out a free locker system for TT2. But with the ambiguity of the closure duration, I'm not surprised that they aren't doing it during this time (assuming they haven't done it behind the scenes). It's likely not an easy solution depending on the queue layout. I wouldn't know, as... I've never been on it. :(

Was the part of the article that mentioned lockers new? Looks to me like they just added in some past articles about the ride after they discussed the closure and lack of update on it. But maybe not.

I believe you're right about the past articles. I read nothing that I hadn't already read months ago on Cedar Point's website discussing safety guidelines for TT2.

They need to make money back, so expect them not to create a free alternative to paid lockers till 2026.

Just call Intamin and have Red Force trains put on TT2. Problem solved. You're welcome.
