I know according to the official calendar "Summer" lasts until the end of September however, in reality for families around here summer is when the kids are out of school. That is basically from the middle of May to the last week or so of August. The fact that Tony said this shutdown was a temporary thing and not a summer long type of thing is yet another piece of evidence that supports that they thought the fix that was being tested a month ago was going to work. In reality it is becoming more clear that it in fact did not work and we are actually facing a summer long type of thing and possibly a season long type of thing.
Cedar Point is still a good place to visit without TT2 but with the massive cut backs in other areas of the park it is obvious they had all of their eggs in the TT2 will carry us this season basket. Maybe Boardwalk Nights will impress me more than in the past, I'll hang my hopes on that as I prefer the hour drive to CP instead of the 3.5 hour drive to KI.
I wonder if Zamperla has considered, or is willing to to consider, or has already brought in a different manufacturer to consult with them regarding the issues. And if so, for the right price, will another manufacturer even consider helping them without thinking it’s competition.
A black eye is a black eye- and Zamperla has one.
The only thing that helps with a black eye is time and the story of how you got it.
New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus
I am really holding out hope the ride can open sometime in August. I already bought plane tickets and if I get a refund it’s credit. But that credit runs out in May 2025 :(. So I have to go to some park or that’s a lot of $$ down the tube.
I’m thinking of maybe going to Busch gardens Tampa instead. Or perhaps kings Island. If anyone has opinions on those parks I’d appreciate it.
I know some people will say come to the point anyway. I personally would prefer to come to the park when TT2 is open even though I know there are other amazing rides. Seeing it closed would be such a big tease to me. I specifically put off coming when the original had its accident.
^Both BGT and KI are fantastic parks and you'd have a great time at either of them, if TT2 being down is a deal breaker for you. And BGT is within 2 hours of Orlando, so you could make a big trip out of it.

Just a personal opinion here but given the choice to go to KI or Busch Gardens Tampa I would pick BG. KI is a great park, we just spent a few days there for the 4th and had a great time but it is relatively close to CP so you could hit them both on a future trip. Especially if you are planning on flying to Ohio to visit CP once TT2 re-opens you should consider adding a few days and make the drive to KI. It is about a 3.5-4 hour drive depending upon the route and traffic conditions.
Going to any park for just one attraction seems pretty weird to me. I mean, what if you "only" get to ride Millennium Force and Magnum and ValRaven and Steel Vengeance? If that's a bummer, I want your problems.

^^^ yep.
Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Mine Ride, Gemini, Magnum, Millenium Force, Rougarou, Valravan, Raptor, Gatekeeper is a pretty good line-up of rides even if/when TTD2 isn't running.

I can see how someone might not often go to a park and plan to go when a new ride opens up. (After all isn’t that why parks open up new rides?) but I do agree letting it ruin your whole trip is silly.
First ride; Magnum 1994
If Zamperla fixes the issue and there is no more extended downtime in the coming years, I think this will all but be forgotten.

Could not agree more....
That there Clark is an RV.....
My main point of contention was, where is the update? Kids summer vacation is more than halfway over. Tony said this will NOT be a summer long thing correct? If that has changed let us know because many WILL cancel their trip if that is the case. Different strokes for different folks.
At what point (and I don’t think we’re terribly far off) does it simply make the most sense to just postpone to 2025? I’m not sure a mid-to-late August opening moves the needle enough to give up the ability to once again market the attraction as brand new for next season.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

It’s a bummer because if I come this year I probably won’t be back for a minimum of 5-10 years.
it would honestly be no big deal if that wasn’t the case. But I’d rather use that money to go to a park where the big new ride is more likely to be open or has a chance to open. I understand it can never be GUARANTEED for a ride to be open of course. And it might be different if the ride was “lower caliber” instead of something so unique. IF SV was closed but TT2 open I’d feel the same way.
I guess it just depends on what people consider must ride. Still have fingers crossed for Zamperla

Cedar Point will be hosting an IAAPA event on July 25th that includes a session about Top Thrill 2.

Just to add to this it says in the email there will be a “latest update on Top Thrill 2”
But on the actual website it doesn’t mention this.
