Dragster cable snaps

They ran five trains with the yellow one still on the transfer track. The entire rear themeing element is still missing from all trains.
Honestly when your going 120 mphs do you really notice that your train doesn't have a spoiler tires or an engine? that was the last thing i thought of when i was 420 feet in the air, but it looks alot cooler when your on the ground.

It doesn't effect you anything when you are riding... but it sure does look kool when you are waiting to get on the ride, or just anywhere in the park looking at the trains.
From reading all the stories, did anyone ever think maybe the air pressure dropped, the brakes came on, and that caused the cable to snap? Interesting.........

I'm sure the cable is strong enough to pull the train through the brakes. I believe it is just the other way around. When the cable snapped, that triggered an Estop which caused the brakes to come up.

Each brake has a position sensor on it. Just guessing, but if a brake is out of position, I would think the launch would abort and the launch motor would stop. With all the sensors on that ride, I can't see Intamin designing it to continue the launch if the brakes were up.

Florida may have Disney World and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

wouldnt it just be scary if the rides train didnt make it up the first hill and the brakes didnt come up because something happened to the air pressure or something, does the track have a sure way of makin the brakes come up??
I know TTD reopened yesterday but looking on the webcam today, no one is in line right now. Are they testing again?

Race For The Sky!

Sigh, I'm sorry lpth5, but if you would do the tiniest bit of research you would learn that the brakes NEED air pressure to deactivate them, allowing the train to pass... So if they lose air pressure, they would go up and therefore stop the train.

Interesting how we run into a themeing scenario very much like Disaster Transport, is it possible that, since Cedar Point is an amusement park that some higher up power is preventing themeing? Or is is that I just really liked the movie Bruce Almighty?? I agree with Voodoo, yeah, nothing matters at 120 mph, but it kinda does when you're not moving that fast..

Cedar Point should stick to thrilling rides that dont really need theming. oh, and they should remove that horrible looking little tacky plastic-ish dragster in front of the station. im suprised some of the high winds havent taken it yet...

ohh i get it, the brakes always want to come up, but the pressure holds them down, ok now i get it.=)
Nothing wrong with that little Dragster in front. Just one more little thing that adds to the themeing... or, whats left of the themeing already.

I must say, the ride was a heck of a lot more scary when the countdown lights didn't work. When you know you are going to lanuch it's a joyride. an intense joyride that is...

I was there today and TTD went down about 12:00.
Wow!! Dragster is down!!!

It's a new ride that still has bugs to work out. They are in the process of working those bugs out. Downtime should have been expected before the season started let alone now. To ensure safety, every aspect of operation is though through to remove any loopholes. The actual operating time [more downtime] suffers some but that willl change with time. So far I've rode it once and it when down while I was in line and while I was on it.

The best chance of getting on Dragster if you can't come here a lot is wait till later in the season or come next year.

As far as that dragster in front of the station goes, it is not tacky plastic. It is a real dragster that they bought from a racetrack in Michigan. The only thing not real is the engine, which they replaced with a mock fiberglass one. Even so, it's hard to tell it's fake unless your up close.

Um Dragster doesn't really need themeing, if themeing makes the ride then the rides sucks to begin with, and Dragster with no lights no smoke no engines just trains and a launch make this ride, the tires engines and smoke are like icing on the cake. when i was on my launch i wasn't thinking hmm i wish the tower lights worked, i was thinking hmm i hope i get a rollback due to high winds lol!

About the theming: I love what they did with the theming, and I hope they solve the problem of how to keep the tires from ever falling off again. Please check out this thread for my theory on why this happened.
