Ital International and Cedar Point both list the manufacturer of the Free Fall Ride by Intamin.
It would be pretty important for the seller to list the proper manufacturer. Can you link me to something that lists the free fall as manufactured by Giovanola? *** Edited 5/23/2006 5:15:55 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***
Tony and Tyler say:
"we need to replace a part on Millennium Force. As soon as it arrives and is installed, the ride will re-open. We are expecting it to be up later in the week."
That's all I know.
It sucks because we're going there tomorrow for the 3rd time this year and my daughter LOVES the MF. It's her favorite ride. Oh well, we have season passes so I'm sure she'll get another chance sometime this year. I just wanted to be able to take advantage of the shorter lines during the week in May.
Nothing is more priceless than seeing the face of my 9 year old daughter the first time she ever rode a big roller coaster.
So is that saying they are expecting it to be up by next Tuesday/Wednesday. :-D I hope because that's when Im going to be there. That's good news to hear that it won't be too awfully long though.
I take it to mean it would be up by this Thurs or Friday. Of course, I'm heading up for Sat and Sun so I'm very hopeful for those days.
Best RollerCoaster in the World = Millenium Force
I have heard that the MF crew was told to not report to the ride untiul Friday.
This sucks, 'cuz I didn't ride it on opening day. I was hoping to get a ride in when I'll be at the park Thursday after work before heading to Holiday World's event this weekend. I haven't even been on Dragster yet.
Yeah I know there is more to ride and we'll still have a great time. But it's just disappointing to take five other people who've never been there. Im hoping for their sake that its up, and for my sake that Wicked Twister is up, because I havent gotten to ride it in the two years ive been going. :-(
Sorry guys, I too have verified with sources that the motor itself is shot, and a new one is enroute.
It seems marketing (Tony and Tyler) are not in touch with maintenance, due to the fact that people familar with the part say it won't be until next week that MF will be up and running.
We'll see, but it is indeed the motor.
The train made it up the rest of the hill with the diesel backup generator that was installed with the ride.

Me too. Oh well, gives me some time to do some laps on the Big Green Bird of Prey and my Moly Orange and Silver arrow creation. :)
That's what I planned on, until I walked over to Raptor and it too was down for the afternoon. I still had fun without them though.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I just got back from my One Day trip to cedar point. Was pretty bummed that MF was down all day, but it was ok... Lines were nice and short so i got to ride everything else in a flash and multiple times.
Anyway, I was back in frontier town (right by SkyHawk and the City Hall) and I did see something strange...
Today SkyHawk was down till noon on account they were shooting a commercial so I decided to come back later to ride it. When I returned, I rode it and it was great!
Here is the Interesting part, I had just got of SkyHawk and there was this Front-Loader type vehicle just driving through Frontier Town moving W to E and it had a LARGE mechanical part on it... Looked very similar to a gearbox type part. So yea... Could it be from MF? I cant say.
Read today's blog entry from Tony and Tyler. It was probably equipment for the commercial shoot.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I've been told the motor is being repaired. There was major damage to it, thats why the repair time it so hard to determine. Also they had not found a replacement as it is basically a one of a kind design. The original "up to 3 week" estimate appears to be as good a quess as any!

If Giovanola's site was up, you could see it. Those rides, Icluding Avalance Run, were *brokered* by Intamin, but they are Giovanola rides.
I don't know the exact time period when Intamin started doing their own rides, but there are even a few or more than a few Schwarzkopf creations that are credited as Intamin because they were sold through them.

edit: still can't get to info on them, but for reference, here's the 23 coasters that Giovanola is responsible for. Most of them you thought were Intamin, but they were just sold by them.

Do you know from what?
Giovanola was sub-contracted according to RCDB link you provided for Disaster transport. Big difference between brokered and sub-contracted.
Demon Drop was also sub-contracted as well as Mr. Hydes. however the designer is still Intamin.
Intamin still had something to do with it even if it was just "brokered" and like I said, I've been on this supposed "bandwagon" since I was about nine after one too many Demon Drop scares.
You could show me a perfect season with no downtime on TTD and I will still show you someone who does not think Intamin is a very reliable company. *** Edited 5/24/2006 7:57:33 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***
