If someone came to me and said, "Dave, we're going to build you a coaster. What is it like?" I suspect the result would look a lot like the Voyage.
In fact I kind of remember saying so once... 8-)

^ Hey Rideman! How you been? Anyway back on topic here. Anybody seen the new picture from CP rundown today? In this picture, perimeter road looks really not the same at the moment.
Watching the Carowinds entrance come together, I can see it merely as a redo of the CP entry but also see the bridge/tunnel as maybe a prototype of a new pirate ride esque new marina entrance.
I dont want to see a coaster diving into a fish mouth, coal mine, etc. but I do like seeing the nice architectural esthetic.
Not trying to kill the subject or anything but It's been a while since I've posted and I love this community. In my honest opinion I think there will be a dive coaster in 2016 but I don't think it will be a huge record breaker. I was just wondering from you guys what do you think are potential possibilities for the space being cleared out? Coaster wise or any attraction really. I'm asking for realistic stuff as well. Not a 500 foot coaster that goes all the way to Cleveland and back.

I see a dive coaster and a Triotech dark ride fitting well into this area with still a little room to spair. I however, think that if they went with the dive coaster it would be a record breaker in typical Cedar Point fassion, though nothing earth shattering(tallest, fastest, longest). These records really would not be that hard to obtain, seeing what the dive coaster record holders are now. Plus they are very compact coasters. It is Cedar Point we are talking about.
Maybe, maybe not. There is a different mentality in the head office now. Just because that's how it was done in the past doesn't mean that is what's going to happen now.
My only concerns are the price rumors which could be complete BS. A dive coaster does seem to fit though.

I must say I haven't seen Cedar Point start clearing area this soon in a while.

We have to remember that it was a "rumored" memo between Cedar Point and B&M. That would suggest that the suggested price was for the coaster only, not the entire project. I realize that Cedar Point has new management, but I firmly believe that it would be a mistake to stray away from their past ways too much. I must stress "too." It is their identity. But they won't be adding a huge headliner every other year. I love how they have been focusing on fixing up weaker parts of the park.
Yes it is just a rumor but you have to remember that rides such as WT and TTD started as rumors and were fairly accurate. I honestly think that 2016 will bring us a dive coaster over 200 feet tall, and the blue streak midway stretching under it. And I think I am going to have to hang on to that until further evidence and speculation or maybe even an announcement.

I was trying to stress the, between CP and B&M, not the rumored. I actually pray that 2016 brings a dive coaster.
There are rumors every year to cover every possible scenario. Of course someone will get it right.

To be honest, I would have to agree with the few who have said they hope it isn't just a coaster in that area. That footprint is too big to not incorporate some family flats or anything else.
What I have always hoped for with Cedar Point, is a section dedicated to rides that have been retired throughout the chain. Examples of this area would include refurbished rides such as: The Rotor, 1001 Nacht type ride, Huss Top Spin, bring the scrambler out of Camp Snoopy, etc. Spreading these rides throughout that area could possibly add more foot traffic in between the BS midway and Celebration Plaza. But, the odds of that happening may be slim.

Maverick construction started around this time as well back in 2006.
I've said it many times and I will say it again. There is more than enough room for more than a dive coaster. Yes, at first it might just be another coaster, but that will just be the centerpiece. If we have learned one thing the last several years, it is that Cedar Fair is taking too much care to plan in depth and develop certain areas to just add another coaster. Yes, Gatekeeper for what it literally is is just another coaster, same with Fury 325, but it is and does so much more.

Are you kidding? So far there's 22 pages here full of what everyone thinks. There's also several hundred responses to another thread "Calypso and Turnpike Land".
