...with B&M you get amazing reliability but typically a ride lacking in overall thrill.
How many B&M's have you been on? I find your opinion completely absurd. Ride Banshee if you have any doubts.

Points to a 223 foot hill, 80 mph top speed, and details on the number of curves, inversions, etc. Compared to the video of such rides online it would be one of the bigger examples out there.
So much for the "dark ride" theories. This seems far more cool. However it does leave me thinking that they could still retool and add a third pipeline for foot traffic, give or take what they do with Cedars. But putting the entrance on the main midway side would make for a tight fit with heavy traffic.
Anyway, wonder what they'll call it. "Lake Erie Sink?"

Unless it's a hoax, which would be totally hilarious.

If by some odds those stats are true, in Cedar Point fashion this would break the record for tallest, fastest, longest and most inversions on a dive coaster

Given that Cedar Fair in general seems to suck at holding secrets anymore, I would not doubt one second that this is accurate.
Banshee and Gatekeeper were both basically leaked prior to announcement (blueprints), Maverick as well.
It won't be long before blue prints and other details come about, I am sure.
I am really excited for this though (if true). I love Sheikra, it's a blast.

“The Dive Coaster is one of the most exciting concepts to come along in coaster development in the last 35 years,” said Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services Inc.
I'd say that's a stretch. A lot of coaster development has happened since 1980. I'm not sure Dive Coaster is near the top of the list.

Ride On_17 brought this up earlier in the thread. But assuming it's accurate and ignoring other factors, I have to say that $15,000,000 sounds low. Who knows for sure, but there's no harm in comparing apples and oranges based on hearsay while making assumptions. :)
Other coasters (in 2015 dollars)
Griffon - $17,800,000
SheiKra - $16,300,000
GateKeeper - $25,300,000
Maverick - $23,900,000
Top Thrill Dragster - $32,000,000
Wicked Twister - $11,800,000
Millennium Force - $34,300,000
Mantis - $18,000,000
Raptor - $18,300,000
Mean Streak - $13,000,000
Magnum XL-200 - $15,200,000
He says it is one of the ride proposals they are looking at. Maybe they are looking at several ideas that could be swapped around different parks ultimately. That they are starting demo work at CP this year isn't shocking really, it is what it is.
They could turn around and build something else entirely. All told I'm curious if it will be the last major ride prior to season 150. They might just hype the anniversary alone without a ride, but I would think it goes better with one. Three years removed from whatever this could be in 2016 isn't too soon for another major ride as well.
