It could be done if they move/remove some things, and still make it roomy enough for the trucks. But....that could be very costly.
On top of that, they would have to tear the dt building down, eliminate some parking spaces, move a wearhouse and several other storage areas, move some offices, piss off Mrs Kinzel, limit the room in that area by having several footers and low zones that have to fenced in. Seems like a lot of hassle and money involved.
In the back of the park, they could tear down mean streak and have all kinds of room to work with. Woulden't a nice new plug and play look nice back there?
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
So wait... in order to build a ride where DT sits, they'd have to tear it down? The hell, you say!
And the only other thing in that list they'd actually have to do is remove parking spaces.
Brandon
Ummm, yea.
It's a lot of work to tear down a building like that. Not a cheap or easy job. So add all of the cost's associated with just clearing the land and moving things around in this situation, your 15 million dollor coaster just became a 25 million dollor or more coaster.
There are several other areas in the park where a coaster could still fit. Areas where it would be cheaper and easior to build on. Why disrupt a bunch of things if you do not have to?

^ - where are you pulling the $25 million+ number from?
Maverick, which also involved removal of a previously existing ride, as well as preservation of sections of said ride, only cost $21 million.

Once again, I never suggested this area was the best candidate. I was simply pointing out that, contrary to your assertion, the area in question is plenty big for damn near any conceivable attraction.
Brandon
I am just pulling a number out of my rear for arguments sake.
Removing a fiberglass water flume is a hell of a lot cheaper than tearing down a large building and relocating/moving all the things I listed.

The "building" is a steel frame with some corrugated steel bolted to it, not some brick and mortar skyscraper than needs precise demolition. It can either be taken down carefully (dis-assembly) or quickly (wrecking ball). The second would be no different than WWL with the exception of there not being a building (original station) that needs to be preserved to be part of the new ride.

Yes it is.
You would have to relocate quite a few things. The wearhouse, happy jacks, disaster refreshments, secuity gate, the storage area behind disaster, parade storage area, loading docks, and several other offices and behind the scenes things.
Not to mention that you would have to re-route the trucks around low zones and footers.

Fixed it for ya. :)

How did this tread degenerate into a pissing match about what else can come down and future attractions? Seriously, what's the point? Next year they're building something called Shoot The Rapids.

Because it seems everything with dj seems to always turn into pissing match.
Anyways....back on topic.
I am curious why they are going to keep the color, name and the theme the same at knotts as is is at cedar point. It's going into the western part of the knotts.
Like said on coasterbuzz, why not theme it to a mine shaft or something western?

Why is it surprising for the news to show up in one of the park's biggest markets?
Goodbye MrScott
John
Because it's not a major coaster. Just kind of suprised it made the news here. Thought it was kind of cool to see.
Just this one station reported it. Abc, and nbc said nothing about it.

And the same story made the news in another big CP market:
Long time reader, first time poster. I am really bummed about the removal of this ride. I have a lot of good memories. It ate my keys on one account, had to call a locksmith to get into our car for the spare. Luckily before the locksmith got there, the keys showed up in lost and found. I felt bad when we bolted before the locksmith showed up, but I saved an estimated $90. Ever since that incident I have never left home without a clip for my keys.
^^Just so you know, CP will get you into your car for free. I have had it done on 2 separate occasions.
