It is an interesting move no doubt. It gives Knots a new ride, and after so many years at CP, they know what the maintance cost will be.
What will go in the old DD location and replace it?
If MM gets their rumored coaster next season, do you think an Intamin Zac Spin replace DD? (sorry if this was answered before, but I couldn't find it)

Zach, if you watch the show "How do they do it" from 2007, you'll notice the architectural drawing for a Zac Spin on the wall of Rob Decker's Cedar Point office around the 17 minute mark of the show.

Hopefully a new Floorless coaster. That's still on my wish list, but who knows. To me though this move is a move for 2011. Cedar Point has something up their sleeves, but it's too early right now to create speculation. Hopefully they put some grass down in that area for now after demon drop is removed.
Why does anything have to go in its place?

Jeff what else would you do with it? Next year it already looks like it will be a grassy area. What would you do with it?
Let's Get Weird.
Jeff, you trying to throw us off? While nothing has to replace DD, land is still an asset, so through asset utilization, the old DD location will be used differently. I think that's the given, while a ride certainly doesn't have to go there.
With that said, given the plans for a Zac Spin were in CP's offices, they cost $7 million, and the footprint is ideal for the old DD location and que.
I think a Zac Spin is going to replace DD, though I'd prefer to see an Intamin plug-n-play woodie (bigger ET please)
I also think it may just "show up" next season, especially if MM moves forward with their 17th coster next season
My $.02 (take it for what it's worth)

No offense, but that's an awful lot of self-delusion for only two cents....
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
I almost didn't get to ride it yesterday cause it was closed till 8 due to wind. (However the wind got me my first Rollback on Dragster ;) ).
Gonna miss Demon Drop. As always I gave it my change. Rode it twice. Once with a dime, next a nickel. Sad to see it go.
also I can not see the ride in Brown....(they will paint it brown to fit into the theming..)
NO offense taken Ensign :)

As I already mentioned elsewhere, I personally think that Demon Drop is going to be replaced with...
...a fence.
They'll take down the fence down by the tower that went up a few years ago, and put up a new fence between the gift shop and the rest room/rental center building. The space now occupied by Demon Drop and its support building will be cleared out and become part of the maintenance/warehouse/back of house area that is already contiguous to the Demon Drop site. They might even get back some of the "inside the fence" parking spaces they lost when the administration building was built.
I have no particular inside information, but that's what I'm guessing is going to happen. Stay tuned to see if I am right...

Not according to the announcements. Its going to carry the same name and color scheme at Knotts. Which is really interesting since they have a chance to re-imagine the ride to fit in at Knotts.

Dave, why do you think DD will be replaced by a fence, since the DD location has amazing visability from the parking lot? I have no clue what will go there, and it certainly could be a fence, I just think something striking would go there, while a Zac Spin would look great by WT.
Time will tell.

My information came from the ride crew of Demon Drop. They said that they can't have it stay blue because it would screw the theming, and that they decided to paint it brown. Not sure how accurate the info is but I do believe they would have to re-paint it to match the theme.
Why on Earth would a Cedar Point seasonal employee know more than the destination park itself (assuming Knott's is responsible for the official announcement)?
