Keep in mind, KBF is arguably the most landlocked park in the chain. There simply aren't many areas left to put in a ride without taking something else out. In that context, DD going there makes sense in that it has a relatively small footprint for a significant attraction.

I'll be in SoCal in late April. I'll be thrilled if it's running by then. If not, I'll at least get some pictures.

Keep in mind, there's probably a little bit of Mr. Hyde in that thar Demon! A lung here, a retina there. . . it's kind of like 'Seven Pounds' for really big, metallic things. :)

I agree with you Dvo. If this is true, (which it probably is) they are probably going to move the building land forward into the parking area. They could make a parking garage like Disneyland has. If they wanted to even go back to the causeway and make the parking, just have a tram go back and forth. It would be cool to cedar point eventually bring back Oceania by making a boardwalk.

Knott's Swing was a bad idea from the get-go. It's a 4-seat swing, and with a $10 upcharge I don't think they can get enough people to ride it to cover its personnel costs let alone its operating costs. But with only 4 seats, it doesn't have the capacity to be part of the POP.
Demon Drop can easily fit into about a third of the Swing's footprint, move lots more riders, and generally be a better fit for the park. Meanwhile, at Cedar Point, everybody will notice that it is gone, but nobody will miss it because few people bother to ride the thing.
The remaining question: What fills that space at Cedar Point?

DD was one of the only thrill rides whose ridership went down last year. But, it still gave almost half a million rides last year.

Man, if DD goes. Next season is gonna be so weird! I mean, you just expect seeing and hearing that thing when you walk in. It's iconic!
It'll be missed, that's for sure. I actually prefer Demon Drop over Power Tower, but oh well! If it does get taken out for sure, it does not mean CP must use that opened-up land immediately. Could be for later use in another ten years. Could just be a grassy area or more maintenance area.

Seeing as how the ride has been for sale for a little over 4 years now, I'm thinking the land will be used sooner rather than later. I'm thinking 2011-2012. The park is typically working on about a 5 year plan with their larger ride installations. In addition Chaos is for sale. It wouldn't suprise me if when ever the new capital improvement comes to fruition, Chaos will be removed, Troika will be put in it's place, Disaster Transport will be removed and something much better will go in the place of all of it.

The combined footprint of all of the rides you just named makes for a very sizable area.

I think that demon drop is the most frightning ride in the park. The trip up it's lift, and the sounds the ride makes are scary.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
aww...I was always scared of that ride but I was finally going to try and ride it next season. It will be missed :(

Even with the heavy investment into the Toy Factory this year? I guess that part of the building could be saved, but that is very difficult work to do. Or, was the new haunt designed in a way that would be easily relocated to another building in the park?

From a good source I was told that a Sky Swatter from S&S will be replacing DD. Which is a really good thing. Best flat ride i've ever been on! : )
Well, it's been a good run. We shall miss seeing and hearing DD. I know I will, even though it's not my favorite thing to ride. I love the drop but everything after just makes me nervous. We should do a group "takeover" if this is indeed true. Who'd be in?

This really upsets me! I love the Demon Drop! It gives me a rush that is hust right! Power Tower scares the crap out of me! It seems like every ride I really like keeps moving! I am still recovering from the loss of my home park of Geauga Lake!!!! It is bad enought that I have to drive all over the country for some of my favorite rides like the Dominator and Thunder Hawk! I wish they would reconsider and just move it! That is a landmark for many!!!!!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
It is the only ride the frightens me in the park. There needs to be more rides like it.

I'm not saying there aren't other possibilities of what the end result of Demon Drop Leaving is. But I doubt the investment in Toy Factory would save Disaster. It couldn't have been that much of an investment. Don't get me wrong, I really liked what they did with the Haunt. But, it's just a bunch of games and toys. It could be moved to another building.
