Are the majority of people so stupid? No offense or anything, and I don't mean this in a bad way, just some of the stuff people say don't even contain any common sense at all. I've always wondered whether amusement parks are just way too confusing for some people to understand, or if there are select few (like everyone on here) that knows the facts. As funny as it is, it really drives me crazy how some people are.
Try working at the park. I have so many crazy stories from the last three years.

Haha well I want to work at the park in a few years so I guess I'll be able to experience tons of crazy stuff first hand.
There's really nothing that can prepare you for the idiotic things that people do / say that I just don't understand, nor think I will ever understand fully. Most of the things give me a headache.
Once, I found a kid with shoes stuffed with cheeseburgers from Johnny Rockets.

When it comes to lack of common sense, I think people are really smart when not at a park. They just do it for attention and because they are technically on a mini-vacation at cedar point, they think they can get away with stupid things. They expect park employees to do everything for them, as well as know everything. At home and at work, they are smart, but at an amusement park, they enjoy being dumb.
^ This
I like to explain it to my coworkers like this: when people go on vacation, sometimes their brains "check out". They want to focus on having fun, most people don't want to fret the details. I don't let it bug me when they come with the same silly questions.

^ how did you find out that he had cheeseburgers in his shoes? Where in the park did you work where you had the opportunity to see inside the kid's shoes?ok I read your signature, but how did you find out?
That kid's feet must have smelled nasty though!
Ride hosts are allowed to ask kids to take their shoes off. If you do know what to look for, it actually is quite obvious when kids have their shoes stuffed, some a lot more then others. This kid had done a really bad job of it, and yeah. He was waddling, feet halfway out of his shoes. Like really.

I was trained to look at children's feet and ankles. If their ankles are abnormally higher than where they should be, we have to ask them to take off their shoes.
Parents will do anything to get their child on a ride and then get mad when they get caught or denied. It's almost sad. Rules are rules...maybe next year.
Some of the things parents do are crazy, and I don't think that a lot of them understand that what we do is for their child's safety. My favorite is always when the parent tells me that I should let them ride because it's their kids birthday. Happy birthday, but you're still not riding, sorry, but I'm not sorry.

It's all fun and games until a child under the height limit is ejected from the vehicle.
.....Then it's a lawsuit.
^ I couldn't agree more! If a parent wants to put their child's safety in danger, by all means go ahead and do it at home where your rules are your rules. But, Cedar Point has rules and height requirements on their rides. So, to ensure safety, whether it pisses a parent off or not, your child isn't riding until they're 52" sir. Sorry :)
