I assume they're just random rotating ads on the PB pages. I got a Chick-Fil-A ad and I had to laugh because of this thread. Sorry. :) And I'm nor making light of this topic, so please don't take it that way.

Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!
The word that comes to my mind here more than bigot in regards to some of the rather insensitive comments eluding to "I support gay marriage but I am not going to stop eating at Chick-fil-A" is APATHY. And the apathy of parties not involved in the controversy is just as harmful to the cause of LGBT equality as downright oppression and bigotry. It seems to me that most of the people on this thread who are posting comments like this are crying that the people standing up with the LGBT community and joining in the boycott are bullying them. "I should be able to enjoy CFA and be able to distance myself from the actual bigotry of Dan Cathy and CFA's anti-marriage oppression" is a copout. Yes, you have the right to eat wherever you want, but expect others to think less of you because of your support, however minimal by just purchasing their food occasionally, for this company. Just as in the women's suffrage and black civil rights movements, that apathy is as much a part of delaying LGBT equality as the actual fight from the far right.
As far as CF franchising CFA in their parks, it's a similar situation. This won't stop me from going to Cedar Point or Worlds of Fun, but I do think a little less of the company now. Unless sometime this season Ouimet decides to terminate the association with CFA, Cedar Fair has an association with a company that actively seeks to prevent my pursuit of happiness by marrying my same sex partner. It's not as shameful as if CFA were associated with the KKK, but I do believe some of the people Cathy is giving money to would be trying to stop more than gay marriage if they could get away with it (do some research on Scott Lively, he BELIEVES we should be executed but preaches conversion therapy because very few others are extreme enough to call for the execution of "avowed homosexuals" in the 21st century.) If it were the case that Cedar Fair had an association with a racist hate group, I, a white male, would stand up and boycott Cedar Fair. It does no harm to anyone to stand up for someone else's dignity, so I would ask those of you who don't see this as a big deal to maybe look at it from the perspective of someone to whom it IS a big deal. Join us in the boycott people.
And I'm sure the Chick-fil-A "Vote whether you support or oppose" AD is here because the company hired google to track their name on websites. I just clicked the link on the CFA vote AD, and it goes to townhall.com, associated with Liberty University. Yeah, the right-wing bigots want your name and email address on their list folks.
It was not a CFA ad, it was one of those pointless survey sites that asks dumb questions about [insert political nonsense here]. They do the same thing about Obama this or Romney that.

I have been hearing a lot of radio commercials for a website showing studies on kids who grow up in different types of households. I just thought it could add to the discussion.
Let's Get Weird.
You do realize that the Witherspoon Institute is a religiously-based, conservative (FAR-right) foundation, correct? They have openly opposed same-sex marriage and stem cell research, etc., since their conception.
I'm sure you heard them mentioned on Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck.
I'm a social scientist. Trust me, this is crap. Crap designed to look legit, but the Witherspoon Institute has a very, very, very clear, well-defined agenda behind everything they do.
Let me explain a bit further. When we teach about how to critique articles, you always look at sample size, measures used, etc....but in this day and age I remind my students to always look at who is funding or behind the studies. Amazing who the results always go their way.
I will say two things. First, there does need to be a lot more research involving people in the gay community. Second, the majority of the research that has been done indeed shows there is no significant outcome difference. I actually offered a little review some pages back that included some references.

I actually heard it on my local ESPN Radio station. You would never catch me listening to political talk shows.
Yes, I realized who was funding it and promoting it. I thought I would bring it on here to watch it get torn to shreads like you just did. :)

Like Eminem or 50 Cent? ;)
EDIT: Once I got around to posting this punny phrase, you edited "rap" to "Crap." :(

Weird; my local ESPN radio station also has these tie-ins on it. Then again, it's their dollar.
And they definitely went out of their way to make the website look as benign as possible. I see no reason why anyone who is not an academic nerd like me would ever think twice. They sure haven't published much in 8 years of existence. :)

Gay families exist more heavily in the south for some reason where there are more of these restaurants. So I understand this a little bit. Politics making a spectacle of civil equality is ungodly and how it is playing out in the media is foul.
Personally this moment in history has brought me deeper into the Catholic and LDS faiths then I ever thought I would go. I had just become comfortable in life attending mass once a week when all this started (not just this latest event) and it somehow has caused me to find a unexpected refuge with LDS peers. So if people eating chickens to protect their marriages and fellow gay men and women kissing in the drive thru's helps me double and deepen my love/hate relationship with Christ then I guess it's a good thing. Joseph Smith said if we see the rainbow withheld then surely our savior is on his way!

Chick-fil-a sandwiches are the best I've ever tasted. The waffle fries I could take or leave. Regardless, they will never get another dime from me. Ever.
My right as a gay person to marry is a civil right, not a religious one, and that's where it should remain. You don't want to marry us in your church? Fine, we'll go elsewhere. Just don't deny me the freedom that other Americans have. And I mean basic freedoms like access, benefits, housing, the right to love and partner with whomever I choose, and the right to raise my family with my own values.
Shame on the Cathys, the organizations they support, and anyone else for using religious based so called family values to deny us our civil rights.
Access to what?
Housing? Have gay people been denied housing? Is there documented instances of this?
Do you not have the right to love and partner with whomever as long as they are consenting adults right now?
Are you unable to raise a family with whatever values you want right now?
Don't get me wrong, I don't think government should restrict or even regulate marriage. I think the idea of a government issued Marriage certificate is ridiculous, gay or straight. I just don't get your whole list of 'freedoms denied'
This is satan stirring up contentions among people. Jesus warns us in scripture that this is not his doctrine. But people like anger, it keeps the heart pumping. It would be wise for us to stay away from it even if it involves really good tasting chicken sandwiches as bait.
On the first and third points- Yes, right now landlords can legally deny people housing or evict them on account of them being gay. The fair housing laws currently do not apply to sexual orientation.
As for being unable to raise a family, that's very true in quite a few states. Lots of states have laws prohibiting unmarried couples from adopting children.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Is there any documented cases that people have been evicted because they are gay or denied? For living in 'backwards Oklahoma' I can't say my apartment complex would really give a **** if I was gay, straight, transvestite or whatever as long as I paid my rent and wasn't a nuisance to others.
Child Adoption is a huge crazy process. I'm not even going to pretend to be an expert on it. I hate kids and wouldn't bother adopting (or having my own) but it goes back to my last point - i don't think marriage should be legally recognized or marriage certificates issued, so the whole idea of adoption by unmarried couples wouldn't be relevant anymore either.
Well since it is legally identified by government, naturally people don't want one group of people denied the right, so your position is rather irrelevant.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This will certainly not keep me from enjoying their delicious food.
^It's not just opinion. They give millions of dollars to groups that support their views by attacking people who don't live the way that company thinks they should.
Money you give them supports these hate groups.
