Except that it's not discrimination, with sexual orientation not being a protected class...

On what planet is it not discrimination? If I don't want pickles on my sandwich, I'm discriminating against pickles. I don't need a law to redefine the word. Furthermore, gay discrimination lawsuits are hardly new, and they tend to be settled out of court, like most discrimination suits of any nature.

KevinJ, I'm not sure 60% qualifies as "most". That's the type of language a politician would use. What then, is "most"? 51%? At what point does one reach "most"?

Secondly, can you provide any actual statistical evidence to back up your 60% claim?

So you want to redefine "discrimination," and "most?"

Your use of the word "discrimination" is just an opinion, and not fact-based under the rules of law in this great country.

Todays word is
discrimination.....that's discrimination.

So, we've come to this. We're now debating the meaning of one of the language's core words.

most - adjective \ˈmōst\

2. the majority of <most people>

majority - noun \mə-ˈjȯr-ə-tē, -ˈjär-\

3a : a number or percentage equaling more than half of a total

Thus, to answer your question, the point at which one reaches "most" is the point at which the percentage equals more than half of the total.

I was going to say that the last several posts seem like deja vu all over again. But I do not recall discussing the meaning of the word "most" earlier in this thread. Not sure I recall ever having discussed the meaning of the word.

Maybe its not discrimination if its against something you do not like? And its not most unless it includes you? :)

Did we ever get a solid definition of the word "is"?

This discussion is indecent and it still bothers me that the second I try to defend myself here against this vulgarity Jeff shuts me down. Was that months ago now. It still bothers me. I had to come back here and say it.

"My intolerance isn't being tolerated! Boo hoo!"

Anyway... seems CFA's tune has not changed, despite previous reports.
http://www.citizenlink.com/2012/09/20/chick-fil-a-sets-the-record-straight-2/

I especially like these comments:

...our sincere intent has been to remain out of this political and social debate...

Our intent is not to support political or social agendas.

...the Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect — regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.

Talk about doublespeak.

Isn't lying frowned upon in their religion? Or is lying just not as important as being anti-gay rights?

I think it's their attempt to separate CFA the privately owned company from Dan Cathy the private owner of said privately owned company. That somehow, if he takes the money that CFA would have donated to hate groups, puts it in his own pocket and then donates it to hate groups it is now somehow okay for CFA because it's not their name on the check.

And I'm not trying to imply he can't do that. It's his money, he can spend it how he pleases. I'm just not going to spend my money at a business who then turns around and spends that money to repress a segment of the population.

What are you talking about? No one shut you down, others just feel you're completely full of crap. Welcome to the Internet!

So just as before they'll treat me with honor, dignity and respect while collecting my money, but do the complete opposite with that money once they have it. I'm glad they set the record straight, but it sucks that so many news outlets ran the reversal story. What a crock!

I'm just distressed at the chaos happening throughout our armed forces, a year after Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed. Morale plummeting, unit cohesion falling apart, soldiers abandoning their posts left and right for fear of their sodomite brothers-in-arms. Cats and dogs living together.

The fundamentalists warned us. If only we'd listened, before we gave buck sargents the right to make privates their personal bitches/assistant mess hall interior decorators...

Edit: on second thought, I better make sure to add a winkie for this one, lest confusion reign.

;)

We know cats and dogs aren't living together.

That'll only happen when the Gatekeeper and Key Master get together and bring Zuul to this plane of existence.
