A racing Gemini is actually one of my favorite rides in the park. It hardly "sucks". Yeah, it is kind of "bleh" when they only run red side, but that is usually limited to the fringe season and the first hour or two of the day during the main season.I go 2-3 Sundays per month, all summer long and I very rarely see them running both sides. And yes, it does suck. Anytime I have allowed anyone new to Cedar Point to talk me into riding it, I get the same reaction... They hate it. I actually love the headchopper airtime hill, but no one else does. And since those people haven't gotten to experience it racing, they don't even get to appreciate that aspect of the ride. I could care less if they keep it or tear it down, but of the 6 or 7 racing coasters I've ridden, this is, by far, the most boring one. An additional racing coaster that is more intense would be a great addition to CP's line up. Maybe even get RMC to build it with a wooden track. Lightning Rod and Goliath are pretty fantastic and Wildfire looks amazing.
Yes Gemini sucks when they only run one side. But they won’t need another RMC, as they have one that will be opening soon.

When I go to CP, I won't often go on Gemini unless it's racing or a walk-on. While it is easily my second favorite Arrow (Magnum is #1) with its good laterals, airtime hills, surprising smoothness, amazing capacity, and final helix, it doesn't hold enough of a punch to be a must-ride every visit. However, when it's racing, it makes the experience so much more fun; taunting the other side and begging the train to go faster to beat them makes the ride so entertaining.
Gemini doesn't suck. It just pales in comparison to the rest of CP's lineup.

So you would care if they tore it down then...

1) Unless you are riding it as soon as they open the ride around 11 or if there is a technical issue, Gemini races nearly every day in the summer from about noonish on.
2) You must be a barrel of fun to go to the park with if you "allow" the people who you are with to do things

Have you ridden an RMC wooden coaster? CP DOES tend to buy more than 1 coaster from companies. For example, but not limited to, Arrows in 76 and 78, B&M's in 94 and 96, Intamins in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007.

How considerate of you to "allow" them to talk you into riding it. You must be an absolute joy to be around.

This may come as a shock, but not every ride in the park needs to be intense and intimidating. That it appeals to people new to coasters doesn't mean it sucks, it means you have a depressingly-narrow view of fun.

Exactly, I find Gemini to be a very fun ride even though it is not a really intense ride. It has an excellent first drop, some nice pops of air time and a nice helix at the end. Many people love it because it is not the most intense ride in the park, not everyone feels comfortable on a super intense ride. The main point is that it is a FUN ride especially when racing and I think it fits in perfectly in Cedar Point's variety of coasters.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
When I'm in the back rows, I feel yanked over the first Gemini hill and I love it. The fact that Gemini is more of a walk-on is another thing I like about it - being able to ride a fun coaster without any wait. Same thing with Cedar Creek Mine Ride and the former Mean Streak.
And it is more fun when Gemini's racing. Always fun taunting the other train. I hope they don't touch Gemini anytime soon.

^Nope.
You might want to read what you wrote again if you still say "nope." How do people still get this wrong all the time?
I'm not a fan of Gemini at all, but in my opinion it really does serve a good purpose as being one of the less intense, but exciting coasters in the park due to the racing aspect. I'll make sure to get on it a time or two this year.
In two seasons and 17-20 visits I have yet to ride Windseeker at KI. It senses me and then goes down, but I see it operating frequently when I am on the other side of the park. Zoug68 must have a similar issue with Gemini, just dumb luck. After noonish on weekdays it races 7-8 or so out of 10 times in my experience. At least one side is usually open, could be worse.
I will always stick up for Gemini. That first drop is amazing and has a wicked head chopper, it has decent airtime, and who doesn’t love high fiving the other train on those turn arounds?

Removing SRF for a modern water coaster would fulfill the water ride obligation whilst requiring minimal theming. Do CF work with Mack at all?
RMC are warm in CF's bed now. A possible T Rex shouldn't be ruled out in the near future, especially if someone else takes the plunge first and gets the bugs ironed out. Either at the Point or KI.
^CF hasn't bought a headline coaster from Mack but they have bought Sierra Sidewinder and Coast Rider.
Fred Grubb interview. April 25th.
2:01 in the link:
Fred: "This is the first (RMC) project at Cedar Point".
Interviewer: "Would you like to do more projects here?"
Fred: "Oh yeah. The people here are great partners. They're great to work with. The staff is great. It's been a pleasure to work here at CP".
I like to think this means another RMC project, sooner or later.
I did not suggest a racing coaster has to be intense to be fun. Think more along the lines of dueling Mystic Timbers, not racing Lightning Rods. If they did decide on intensity, I would NOT complain.
As far as me "allowing" people to ride Gemini, when new people want to go with me, I let them control just about everything we do since they are usually paying for that visit and I go so many times per season that I really don't care. My main goal is to get them to what they want as easily as possible and to get them on as many rides as they can handle. Usually, after the first few rides of the day, I have a pretty good idea of what people will enjoy so, when they say they want to ride something I know they won't like, I usually try to discourage them from riding them. If they still want to, I agree. They usually end up not liking Gemini because it's pretty boring, especially if not racing, and it's much rougher than the rides they do like. Now, if they want to ride a spinny pukey ride, they can ride those all they want....on their own.
I would also bet that I'm a lot more fun to hang out with than with someone who argues against every single post someone puts on here.

I think he'd give this answer regardless...
One of the great things on Gemini, which I bet is what some consider boring, are the slow turns. It allows for great interaction with the other train and also lets you enjoy the view. A dueling Mystic Timbers would not have that and I argue that it would not be as fun of a racing coaster as Gemini is.

Y'all don't be dissing on Gemini! I love that coaster; my personal favorite Toomer design! Better than Magnum in my opinion. Such a well balanced coaster with the high slow turns, airtime hills, and helix at the end. Super fun ride to me.
My dream for CP's next coaster would be a GCI on the beach inspired by CP's old Cyclone wood coaster from the 20s.
