If you want to efficiently move a large number of people between those two points, you'll need to have two tracks between the peninsula and the mainland. Otherwise you'd only be able to have one train on the track, severly limiting the number of people being moved between each point.

So I have a question related to the parking lot discussions going on in this thread. We have platinum passes x3 in my family. My elderly mother just relocated to the area. She is not an amusement park person so it would be a waste of money to buy her a pass of any sort, but she loves visiting the ocean and walking on the beach. Lake Erie is a far cry from the ocean, but it's a good second option when you live close by. But other than Cedar Point, there aren't many decent beach options in Sandusky.
So if we decide to come to the park just to go to the beach (where mom can walk around for free as long as we have a platinum pass to get in through the parking gates) - do/can we tell the parking attendants that we are going to CP Shores and park back there? Without mom, we can always access the beach ourselves via the park entrance/exit at Windseeker. But with her in tow, I think the only option is to get there near or through Breakers.
Proud to have fathered a second generation coaster enthusiast destined to keep me young at heart and riding coasters with a willing partner into my golden years!

Eh. you could have one track and a two train operation. Each train would start off at each end and there could be a switching track at the halfway point where can pass each other. Even with that the wait times can be long. Figure between loading/unloading and travel time could be at least 30 mins between each train. at that point is it worth it to wait for a train than deal with traffic leaving the lot the car is parked in on the mainland? or just deal with the current situation and have real bad traffic those few times a year.
it just doesn't make sense to set something like this up.
The other option is would be to run ferries from a parking a lot on the mainland over the point, or like a water taxi type deal. They already have the marina
Was that an option they got rid of? I did not know that That seems like the best idea. Don't charge parking for the lot, just charge for a ferry ticket
The ferries do run everyday except Saturday.
Downtown, CP Marina, Put in bay, kelleys island.
Jet express ferries.
CP still owns the downtown ferry landing property that jet Express uses.

^I never knew they ferried to CP. That's great. Now if there's a place to stash the kayaks and take a trip to Kelley' s Island, we're in!

Rusty - yes you can. Just hang a left after the toll booths and head back there.
To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"
Why not just shoot a bunch of rainbows across the bay and let people glide across? Did that sound mean? It was a real idea.

Building a monorail to mainland parking isn't a serious response to parking issues. People tend to underestimate the amount of infrastructure and support needed for a monorail (much of the system would be built over water, a large maintenance facility would be necessary, such a monorail would require two tracks) that would only be used for half of the year.
Well, dang it. I thought the "/s" and additional comment would be enough to make it clear my new for 2019 was pure sarcasm.
To be honest, I spent way too long staring at the satellite imagery of the peninsula, and I failed to come up with anything that wouldn't be prohibitively expensive to solve a problem that doesn't occur very often.
How about a giant CP size Sky Ride along the peninsula? Benefit of being FUN as well. :)
Of course this wouldn't help out much during inclement weather conditions when some of these traffic situations arise.
All in all I think the prudent course of action for us day trippers is to have a cooler packed with drinks and snacks and some electronics for the kiddos and just tough it out if the traffic is bad.
I think I've come up with a great solution. Don't go to the park on days that are notorious for traffic issues! With a little bit of research, even a search of these forums can give you an idea of when those days are.

That is an excellent idea and there was a discussion about that on Coasterbuzz because apparently Disney is doing that. I believe Disney is doing a more conventional monocable system but a Doppelmayer 3S system would be awesome at Cedar Point. Totally solve the weather problem as the system can run in very strong winds.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Ask me to ride a 300 foot tall coaster? I'm there.
Ask me to sit in a cabin dangling from a wire? I'm petrified, wondering when the cable is going to snap and leave me plunging to my death.
I don't like sky rides...

But this would be a nice, soft water landing if the cable broke.

Well, then I would worry about dying by drowning. My mother likes to tell the story of how my parents, when I was young, decided to take a ride in a rowboat. She says the further they got from the shore, the louder I screamed.
I worry alot about dying.

From what you report, you seem to have avoided dying for a long time ;)
Besides I like your posts and would miss them if you were gone, like that hiatus when you moved.
