Cedar Point traffic nightmare!!

What the heck are wrong with these people?! A little rain comes and the traffic situation getting out of the park is inexcusable. I have been sitting here in the Cedar Point Shores parking lot trying to leave for one hour and have moved maybe 10 feet. Whatever morons they have attempting to direct traffic definitely need further training because everybody is pissed off at this moment. They should be prepared for such situations and paying customers should not have to be held hostage in a miserable parking lot unable to move for God knows how long until I actually get out of here. If one of the boneheads from Cedar Point actually read this message, get on the ball because this is ridiculous. And no, there is no accident. There have been security guards walking around and we've asked two of them what the problem is and they said it's just a back up of people trying to get out of the park. Absolutely inexcusable.

Is this an every day occurance? No. Chalk it up to "*** happens" and relax a little. Calling folks who do more than you could ever realize "boneheads" and "morons" is just going to make them want to help you less.

While I wouldn't go so far as to name call, we were sitting in that mess too. It was pretty stupid. We finally gave up, reparked, and we are now sitting at Melt. I'm hoping I can be home by midnight.

Siouxsie should not go to Blossom.

Been there. It was that bad.

According to webcam 3, it should be completely cleared up. Or there was an accident that was and still is blocking traffic.

The CP police were saying no accident just backup. We just went back into the park so I couldn't say right now for sure.

Two hours! Two hours it took to get out of the CP Shores lot. In that time we drove maybe 20 feet, but I noticed that the traffic from the Breakers road was moving slowly but steadily. My friend got furious after asking a couple of security people what was happening and just being told it was traffic and it was normal. My friend walked out of the car and up to the front of the traffic line and raised his voice to those "directing" traffic and asked them why the other road was moving and we were at a stand still for almost two hours. They barely said anything and he headed back to the car. SURPRISE! Literally within a minute of him returning to the car, the traffic in the lot began to move and we were at the exit in less than a minute. I stopped to ask a cop who was also there why it took so long. He walked over to me and sternly told me that 30,000 people were trying to leave the park all at once and there was only one road. When I tried to tell him that the traffic from the Breakers area had been moving steadily since we've been waiting, he cut me off and refused to let me say anything, so things got ugly. I don't know who this wannabe cop boy thinks he's talking to but I had no problem standing up for myself while he refused to listen to a single word I tried to say. Typical macho cop crap, always right and doesn't want to hear anything. Maybe by the time he's an adult he will learn a little something. When we hit the access road traffic was moving smoothly, which made my friend that much angrier. He insisted we stop at Guest Services, so we did. He vented to a woman there who immediately a knowingly responded, and I quote: "We've heard that complaint before. It's because the people who are directing traffic don't know what they're doing". Really!? So, I guess we were right when the robotic security drones blindly assured us that traffic is being directed by people who allegedly knew what they were doing. It was an absolute mess and the root was incompetence, which was confirmed by the park itself.

And I know some on this forum will defend the park no matter what the complaint is. I can't wait to see what the response would be if a train derailed and killed all onboard: "Oh relax, it's not like it happens everyday so quite complaining. You have another brother at home".

Anger management.

I was in the parking lot this evening for 2 hours trying to get out. Were you?

Employees that do more than you realize? Give me a break. They are amusement park employees, if they don't like the job they can leave. I blame management for not training the kids correctly and people like you that are defending incompetence.

You guys sound like a barrel of fun to go to the park with

I don't doubt there are plenty of people working in traffic control who have no clue how to effectively and fairly move traffic but my normal go to reaction to this sort of situation is to not bother turning the car on in the first place except for some AC if needed. I just don't enter the mess. I have occasionally napped in the parking lot waiting for traffic to clear or not left the park when everyone else was. Like when the water line broke and they closed the park early. Droves of people stampeding to their cars I'm just not getting involved in that. Fortunately they left the arcade open that night so I just kept sending the kids in with a few dollars at a time until the crowds cleared out.

New for next year , priority exit.

So it's not a surprise for people to wait two hours to get in the parking lot, but it's a travesty to wait two hours to leave during a storm when everyone is leaving at the same time?

I don't know why I'm even bothering to say this, but you defenders seem to disregard that I stated the extended wait was only because of those directing traffic since the road off to the side was moving along the whole time we were stopped. If you're going to respond to a thread, be sure you have read the complete contents and understand the complaint. I'm sure if you were stuck in that lot unmoving for two hours, you would be irritated as well. And there were plenty of people getting out of their cars, frustrated and trying to find out why we were deadlocked.

Between all of your name calling and bullying insults that culminate with you comparing an imaginary fatal accident with a minorly annoying traffic delay - you have lost any credibilty for any actual concerns you brought up.

I will never, ever forget leaving (or trying to leave) an Aerosmith/KISS concert at Blossom with my wife back in 2003. Ever. In fact, I will now and forever compare every traffic situation to that single life event. For those of you who have not experienced this wonder of engineering, well...I recommend trying it at least once.

That said, when you find yourself in a position like this, you have two choices; 1) remain calm and make the most out of a situation you clearly have no control over, or 2) become really angry and irritated and make the least out of a situation you clearly have no control over.

It's really that simple.

I'm not a defender, I've just reached a point in life that I've started assuming nothing will go as it's supposed to and if it does I'm pleasantly surprised. There's less disappointment that way. I'm not going to bore anyone with the woe is me act but honestly with everything that's been going on in my life at the moment I only wish I had the opportunity to be at the park today and have a long wait to get out of poorly directed traffic after a day of carefree fun. I really do.

Blossom...ha ha ha ha....Once waited at least 2 maybe 3 hours for traffic to clear after an Elton John concert. We just sat around, talked, looked at the stars and listened to Bob Dylan's Rainy Day Women over and over on a continuous loop because that's what the people passed out in the back of the station wagon next to us were doing. Not sure if they were napping or taking the song's advice. Also missed an entire opening act there once because of horrid traffic control. We tried to park in the lot closest to the road but they wouldn't let us. They made us creep all the way around for an entire hour before finally parking us in the lot we had originally wanted to park in when we had first gotten there.
