I've never had an issue Parking in back with traffic but I come and go and random times, rarely staying till close, or waiting out rain so the park is dead afterwards for short lines. Avoid the crowds, go during the week. Also, don't go at all so there is more room for the rest of us.

Valid points made. Although, as Cedar Point has had to evolve to keep.up with changing guest interests, demographics, logistics, etc..then I'd like to imagine that there is a long term plan to evolve the parking situation. Again, I'm not saying the system is totally broken, but using the excuse that they are on a peninsula is getting old, if they can continue to creatively use land to fit more attractions, then surely they can evolve parking down the line.
And yes I did miss the other entitled thread. I'm a local with a platinum pass and I'll honestly say at least once a week I turn to my fiance and say how lucky we are to have such an awesome park in our backyard, one that our son equally enjoys going to. But I do think parking could be improved. I'm not the expert to say how though.
I've only been to Blossom once and that was to see DMB (What a surprise). Right after the concert ended a band of thunderstorms rolled through and we were in the grass lot. I would say we got lucky getting out of there in two hours because many just got stuck in the mud and had to take a cab at 2am. The damn thing is on a country road there's not much anyone can do about that. Other than SPAC it's the most beautiful venue I've had the pleasure of attending!
Most folks who have gone to their fare share of any big events begin to realize this is just a fact of life in these situations. At concerts, instead of leaving before the encore it's better to see the whole show, enjoy a smoke or two, enjoy a rather empty venue and then head to you're car. Even then if there's still traffic just relax by the car till it clears out. Most of us spend time in rush hour everyday because we have too, this crowded event nonsense can be avoided with proper planning. So can rush hour I suppose in certain situations.
For those couple hours that were deadlocked it's possible time would have been better spent somewhere on point till things cleared out. Should the park find a better way to control the flow of traffic? Sure why not but I don't have any experience with the issue because I stay at Breakers :P. However I can sympathize with having to wait that long to leave. The key is you know this is an issue now and I'll repeat can avoid it with proper planning.
Parking lot one looks too intense for me!
But in all seriousness, stuff happens. It's not like this is a daily issue. With only two ways out what else would you expect on a crowded day when every one tries to leave at once. Give them a break. Anyway, Most of the people directing traffic are minimum wage employees trying their best because the sooner traffic is gone they get to leave.
Haven't been to the point in a while. But since we all know how many lanes of traffic there are leading in and out, anyone complaining about traffic leaving is being selfish. Unless they can build a 3 lane express bridge from the point to route 250, not gonna happen. Even then, I will never figure out why anyone would think thousands of cars showing up over a 10 hour period, will ever be able to all leave within 15 -30 minutes on any given day. After my time working at CP, I ended up working in concerts part time. And we have the same issues with 28k leaving concerts. Everyone is in a hurry. We have 6 lanes outgoing, takes about 90 minutes to clear. CP only has 3 or 4 .
As far as parking attendants. There is only so much you can do, when dealing with tired, irritated guests, with large weapons (THE CAR). When these attendants try to be fair about clearing the lot. People just don't listen. Again, people are selfish and feel they have been waiting longer. And will honk and basically push these attendants by driving at them. I've seen it.
My only suggestion for CP, is when filling the lot, allow people a second option when parking. the normal parking line towards the gates, and a way to turn to the right immediately and park another bunch starting from the furthest spot in the lot also. Longer walk for guests, but closer to the actual exit. Otherwise plan ahead, leave earlier. Or have someone move the car towards the parking exit prior to closing. Again, you still have to walk. But the walk would only be 10-15 minutes, compared to 2 hours waiting in your car.
Wow, I come back after a day and see all the excuse makers and lynch mob whiners calling someone "selfish" because they didn't like being stuck in a parking lot for two hours. What you people seem to disregard, quite self-servingly, is that I stated QUITE CLEARLY that it was confirmed the reason we were stuck was due to the incompetence of the people (mis)directing traffic out of the lot, allowing everyone to gradually move on other than those trapped in the lot. And if any of you CP suck ups were stuck there and found it was not for a legitimate reason (inexperience or incompetence is not legit), you would not be so quick to crucify. I left the park when I did because I had things to get done that evening (which obviously didn't happen), not because I feared a few raindrops. It just seemed to coincide with people leaving because they saw the clouds approaching. The rain didn't even start until I was stuck in the jam for 15 minutes or so, and it didn't last long at all. So attack all you want.
Hell, as I've lurked here for a while I've seen it always becomes a pack mentality when someone dare say something approaching negative about the all-hailed CP because it's perfect and anyone with the slightest grumble, be it parking, food, staffing, management, condition of grounds, rides going down, or just anything else that someone may have the audacity to mention, the bullets begin to fly. Typical forum nonsense. I hope you kids are enjoying it and that it makes you feel like you're part of the elite majority group. Now, head back to the endless speculations about what Mean Streak is becoming and when might it be announced, because that's just so much more productive.

You realize we actually have been vocal against the park numerous times right? Food service ring a bell? Hell Jeff has even taken a few honest jabs at the park / chain a few times. We're not rabid fanboys. There are some, but def not all.
I hope you kids are enjoying it and that it makes you feel like you're part of the elite majority group.
Nah it just makes me realize more and more that maturity doesn't necessarily come with age and some adults can't act their age.
Like lets look at this objectively. You were stuck in a parking lot with thousands of other guests. We had negative weather, potential employee skill, and also guests themselves. Seriously they're not the brightest--I mean have you seen them walk through the park or sit on an OTSR? These people are now out trying to get out of the parking lots as quick as possible just like you, and they sit on restraints man!
Put all that together and sure it'll turn into a cluster. However the difference here is I would think it sucks, and instead of voice my mind and go into rage quit lunacy, I'd message the park to let them know because posting on a forum literally solves nothing other than turning into a rabid bitch fest back and forth usually. Secondly, relax. I get it sucks, I've been on the end of this stick a few times. Hell I was an employee once. Columbus day rings a bell big time. It sucks, but given the above scenario explained by you and others in the park, it's going to cause problems.
Now, head back to the endless speculations about what Mean Streak is becoming and when might it be announced, because that's just so much more productive.

It took us 1.5 to leave the park on the 4th of July from the Shores parking lot. I think the biggest issue with the traffic being held up leaving from back there is the stop signs and park exit by Valraven that they cars have to stop at and let guest walk across the road. Once we past that point it was smooth sailing

If you think you can do it better, Cedar Point is always hiring. They would welcome your expertise. You should try it sometime--I did. I highly recommend it.

How, exactly, was it "confirmed?"

It's widely known that whenever you're stuck in the CP parking lot to Facebook Message Pointbuzz and they'll come out and straighten things out. I know I've done that a few times and I got out much quicker...
It's also widely known that engaging your CAPS LOCK button on your keyboard verifies something you did, even if you quite clearly did not.

I was stuck in the SC parking lot a couple of 4th of Julys ago after fireworks on the beach. It took about 2 1/2 hours to get out. I saw some strange things that night. One guy in a truck must have had enough of the waiting, so he drove up over the sidewalk, took out a bush, and then got about 10 cars ahead of where he originally was. Minutes after, a minivan wanted to try the same stunt. Though it wasn't pretty, she succeeded. And then later I saw a male driver in a truck, with a female passenger slumped over him with her head bobbing up and down at a constant rate. I guess that's one way to pass the time.

Why is it that disagreement is always the result of a reading comprehension problems on the part of everyone, and never on the person trying to communicate?
